After he had killed the girl, he finished having his way with her anyways; she was still warm after all. It did not concern him in the least. He could never tolerate disobedience. It was no more than these people after deserve being traitors to the pres

Settling in for the night, he grabbed the book off the table in the living area and brought it to the neatly made bed. He had set a fire in the small wood stove in the bedroom. He lay down and opened the book and started to read about the man named Ross that he had killed earlier. About halfway through the book, he grew tired.
Well, Captain Ross
, Carson thought, you’re dead now.
No one gives a damn about you or who you were
.
He tossed the book into the fire. Carson smiled as he stared into the fire, watching the pages curl and blacken.
Not only a worthless adversary, but a worthless writer as well
.
At least the journal will provide a bit of warmth,
Carson thought as he drifted off to sleep.
