Just like Frankie didn’t care that he was littered with scars - the ones you could see and the ones you couldn’t. Because that wasn’t what was important.

What was important was what was on the inside - what was in their hearts. Their hearts were scarred too, but now that they were together, they had a chance at healing them.

“I want to give you something,” Wreck whispered in her ear. She leaned over and kissed him gently and he pulled her up, much to Olivia’s dismay. “Come with me.”

“She’ll be back,” he said to Olivia, as the owl scooted over and snuggled against Oliver, the two of them sitting back and watching the party like a couple of Gods themselves. The only thing missing was their cuts.

Wreck led Frankie to his room and pulled open his bedside drawer. He pulled out what till now had been his most prized possession - the picture of Frankie and her mother. He didn’t need it anymore. He had the real thing right in front of him.

“I’ve had this for years,” he said, handing it to her. “It’s yours now.”

Her eyes filled with tears when she saw it. She ran a finger over her mother’s face, shaking her head.

“I can’t believe you have this!” she said, her voice quivering with emotion.

“I took it from your photo album one night when we were in your room,” he said. “I never told you. I’m sorry.”

“Sorry!?” she cried. “Are you crazy? It’s the best gift I’ve ever gotten! Thank you so much!” She sat on the bed, her eyes filling with tears as she stared into her mother’s eyes, the eyes she never thought she’d see again, the face she thought she’d lost.

“Do you wish I still looked the way I used to?” she asked him. “I guess I could always get my dad to change my face back.”

“Nope,” he answered, holding her face in his hands as he smiled gently at her. “I fell in love with
you
. I fell in love with that face back then and I’ve fallen in love with this one now. I don’t care what you look like. You’ve always been you, my beautiful Frankie, and that’s all that matters to me. I don’t care what’s on the outside.”

“Should I have your dad fix my face?” he asked, after a moment.

“No way, you earned those scars,” she said, reaching up and kissing the one on his face.

“Then I guess what you see is what you get,” he said.

“What I get is everything. I love you so much,” she whispered, throwing her arms around him, squeezing him hard.

“I love you, too, babe,” he whispered with a smile, leaning down and kissing her with all the love in his scarred, wrecked heart.
