She
turned and looked up at him, her green eyes seeming even darker than before.
Her tongue flicked out across her lower lip and he tracked the movement,
wanting to kiss her again, to taste her one more time.

“Would
you like to come in? I could make some coffee or tea,” she offered.

It
was on the tip of his tongue to refuse, but he found himself nodding, idiot
that he was. He followed her into the quaint house and closed the door, turning
the lock. Warded or not, her home really needed more than one deadbolt. It
wouldn’t be enough to keep out a determined wolf, much less a lion, bear, or
something bigger, like a dragon. She should take her safety more seriously, but
it wasn’t his place to say anything. It wasn’t like she was his, even if the
idea was becoming more and more intriguing. He had no place in his life for a
woman, never had, but it didn’t mean that he didn’t spend some lonely nights
wondering what it would be like to have a woman at his side. Something told him
a woman like this witch would keep things interesting.

“Coffee
would be great,” he said as he followed her into the kitchen.

The
yellow walls gave the room a cheerful look, accented by the white cabinets and
lacy white curtains at the window. It was a feminine room, but it suited her.
The whole house did. He wondered how often she brought strange men home with
her, invited them in. He inhaled deeply, taking in all of the scents, and was
pleased to note there wasn’t even the hint of a male in the house. If she had
someone in her life, he didn’t come here.

He
watched her putter around the kitchen, filling the coffee maker with water,
scooping grounds into the filter. After she pressed the button to turn it on,
she faced him, bracing her hands on the counter behind her. If only she knew
what a delectable picture she made, with her breasts thrust out like that, he
doubted she’d be in that position.

“I
guess I owe you an apology,” she said. “I don’t know why
Sauren
chose your house, but it does this sometimes. Last time, it went to the history
museum and broke some antique dishes, a whole display full. Needless to say,
I’m not welcome there anymore.”

“No
worries,
witch.”

Breena
.”

“Excuse
me?”

Breena
.
It’s my name.
You know, as opposed to witch.” Her lips lifted in a smile, transforming her
face from cute to downright adorable. Her eyes flashed with humor and he found
himself entranced by her.

If
he didn’t know it was impossible to place a spell on him, he’d have sworn she
cast one. He’d never been so taken with a woman before. Something told him
she’d stay on his mind until he had another taste. No, maybe a taste wouldn’t
be enough. He needed more, much more than that. He needed a night of wild,
sweaty sex to cleanse his system of whatever this was. He was certain that
would take care of it.

“Don’t
look at me like that,” she said softly, her voice having turned husky.

“Like
what?” He prowled a little closer.

“Like you want to eat me up.”

He
smiled. “Maybe I do.”

She
swallowed hard. “You didn’t seem to feel that way at your house. As I recall,
you kissed me, then slammed the door in my face. I offered myself freely to
you, but you didn’t want me.”

“Oh,
I wanted you. I just didn’t want to want you.”

Her
brow puckered, as if she couldn’t quite figure that sentence out.

“So
what do you say, witch?
Breena
.
Are you ready to be forever changed?” he asked.

She
snorted. “You’re mighty full of yourself, aren’t you?”

“After
two hundred years, you learn a few things.” He shrugged. “I’m just being
honest.”

Okay,
so maybe he was bragging a little. Every woman he had ever been with told him
he was the best lover she’d ever had. Things like that could go to your head
after a while. And even if he didn’t want the witch—
Breena
—under
his skin, he had no doubt things would be explosive between them. He just hoped
it wouldn’t
literally
be explosive.
If her magick was as wonky as her wand, anything could happen. He was willing
to risk it, though.

“And
if I say yes?” she asked.

“Then
I’ll make you mine, for tonight. I make no promises. I’m not a commitment kind
of guy, but I can promise you a good time tonight.”

She
licked her lips and seemed to be thinking things over. He had a feeling she
wasn’t a one-night-stand kind of woman, but maybe she’d make an exception, just
this once…for him. Goddess, he hoped so! He wanted her so bad his teeth ached,
and he wouldn’t even think about his dick. It had been hard the moment he’d
gotten a whiff of her again, and didn’t seem to be going down anytime soon.

“Okay.”
She said it so softly, had he not been part wolf, he would have missed it.

Not giving her a chance to back out, he
reached out and jerked her into his arms, his mouth crashing down on hers. Her
hands curled around his biceps as her body molded to his. Cade thrust his
tongue between her lips, wanting more of the cinnamon flavor that seemed to be
uniquely hers.

Breena
pulled away,
panting hard.
“Bedroom.”

He
swept her off her feet and began the hunt for her room. Getting inside of her
was his top priority at the moment. His skin felt tight and itchy. His fangs
had lengthened and now dented his lower lip. The moon might not call to him
like it did others wolves, but this witch did. The scent and feel of her
surrounded him, drawing him in, making him hunger for her even more. If he
didn’t have her soon, he’d go insane.

He
just hoped he could control himself enough to not make a big mistake. His wolf
wanted to bite the witch, mark her as theirs. Stupid canine didn’t realize what
it was asking of him. No, he wouldn’t bite her, no matter how tempting it might
be. He’d just have to make sure he held on to his sanity, even in the heat of
the moment. Cade wouldn’t even think about what it would mean to lose control.
His nice, orderly life would be forever changed, and so would hers. There were
things about him that she didn’t know, things he didn’t want to tell her.

He
wanted her to want him for him, and not because of who he was in the paranormal
community. Women threw themselves at him left and right, all because of his
name. She’d asked his name once, but he hadn’t given it. His wolf scratched and
pawed at him, not wanting him to hold anything of himself back from her, but it
was too risky to reveal everything. Not now.

Kicking
open her bedroom door with his foot, he let her slide down his body. The lights
were off, but the moon had come out from behind the clouds and now shone
brightly through the bedroom windows. The silvery light caressed her face,
illuminated her fiery hair, and he couldn’t help but trail his fingers across her
soft skin. Not willing to wait another moment, he began to undress her, needing
to see all of her, to taste her, touch her, make her his.

No.
He cursed himself. Not make her his, just…borrow her for a while. His beast
would have to be sated with this night of enjoying the delectable
Breena
, because it’s all it would have. There was too much
going on in his life at this moment. Too much could go wrong if he laid claim
to her. It would put her at risk, and he wasn’t willing to take that chance. He
might not be actively at war with anyone right now, but there were always
people out there, paranormals, who wanted his blood, or to bend him to their
will. If he allowed himself to care for the witch, allowed her to become more
to him, they would use her against him.

Shaking
the dismal thoughts from his head, he cupped her cheek with his hand, his thumb
sweeping across the silken skin. Cade lowered his head and kissed her, gently
this time, wanting to savor every second with her. He felt her hands against
him as she unbuttoned his shirt and then his pants. He pulled away only long
enough to get rid of his clothing, then wrapped her in his embrace once more,
her soft curves pressing against him so sweetly.

As
he nibbled the skin beneath her ear, then trailed kisses along her neck, he
felt something settle inside of him, a calm he’d never felt before. It was like
a piece of him, a piece that had been missing his whole life, clicked into
place. He worshiped her with his hands and mouth, wanting to give her as much
as pleasure as she brought him just by letting him get close to her.

The
wolf gloated, doing a victory lap in his head. Whether Cade wanted to admit it
or not, this witch meant something to him, was a part of him. He was fooling
himself if he thought he could walk away. Even if he didn’t mark her, even if
he never came back, she would always be with him. There was no denying the
truth when it stared you in the face.

He’d
found his mate.

Chapter Three

Breena
threaded her
fingers through the wolf’s hair. He was doing wicked, wicked things to her,
making her want things she’d never wanted before. She wasn’t inexperienced, per
se, but it had been a good, long while since she’d been with a man. Before her
time in the realm of giants, she’d been too busy to have a man in her life and,
for obvious
reasons,
she’d been celibate for
twenty-five years. She’d only been back a few months, but men hadn’t been her
top priority.
Until this man.
Wolf.
Whatever.

She
wondered if he’d howl when he came. A smile tugged her lips at the thought. His
lips found her nipple, drawing on the hard bud, and she couldn’t hold back the
gasp that escaped her. Pleasure zipped and zinged through her, making her pussy
tighten. Her magick swirled around them, enveloping them in a warm cloud. She
felt it spark along her skin as desire coiled tight within her.

Breena
tugged on the
silken strands of his hair, pulling him away. She felt bereft without his
touch, but there was something she needed to do before they went any further,
something she was curious about. From the moment she’d inhaled that delightful
musky scent of his, she’d wondered what he would taste like, and she didn’t
just mean his kiss.

She
licked the tanned, muscled flesh of his chest before taking his nipple in her
mouth. He hissed in a breath and cradled her head with his palm, holding her
closer. She curled her hands around his ribs, sinking her nails into his flesh.
Part of her wanted to mark him in some way, to leave him with a reminder of
their night together. She drew her hands down his sides,
then
slid them around to his tight, perfect ass.

She
licked and kissed a path down
those
rock hard abs of
his, then sank to her knees and took in the magnificence of his long, hard
cock. A lesser woman might have been afraid of the big monster, but
Breena
was damn near dripping she was so turned on. She
curled her fingers around his shaft, not surprised when they didn’t meet.
Giving him a few tentative strokes, she looked up to see his reaction.

He
watched her with heavy-lidded eyes, his chest rising and falling rapidly. She
licked her lips and focused on his cock once more, leaning forward to lick the
pre-cum off the tip. His salty flavor exploded on her tongue and she went back
for more. As she fit her lips around him, easing the length of him into her
mouth, she felt his hands on her hair. Not pulling or demanding, just touching,
petting…encouraging her to keep going.

A
low groan erupted from him as she swallowed him down, taking in as much as she
could. His skin felt like satin against her tongue as she twirled it around his
cock. She sucked so hard her cheeks hollowed out as she pulled back. Her tongue
stroked the head of his cock and then she swallowed him again. She bobbed up
and down on his length, feeling empowered as he growled and thrust his hips in
time with her motion.

She
was really getting into it when he pulled her away, dragging her up his body.
His mouth slammed down on hers, his kiss demanding and intoxicating. He backed
her across the room, stopping when her thighs brushed against the bed. Her
heart raced as she thought about what was coming. Being filled by him,
dominated by him,
sent
butterflies tumbling through
her stomach. He may not be
the
alpha,
but he was still very much an alpha male. And for the moment, he was all hers.

The
wolf fell to his knees before her and she tumbled back onto the bed, her thighs
spread on either side of him. His calloused hands slid up her legs, spreading
them further, his shoulders bracing them apart.
Breena
moaned when his mouth latched onto her pussy, his slightly rough tongue
laving
her sensitive folds. As a witch, she was hairless
everywhere but her head, and that tongue of his was wreaking havoc on her.
She’d always been sensitive down there, but she seemed more so tonight.
Breena
wasn’t sure if it was because of her abstinence, or
something more. His tongue swirled around her clit, teasing her, before he
lapped at her cream once more.
