I love Boston. It’s very manageable. You can walk or take the T almost anywhere. There are tulips in the spring, Swan Boats in the summer, and miles of twinkling lights hanging from tree branches in the winter. And let’s not forget Fenway franks, peanuts, and beer at the ballgame.

The Esplanade in the summer is incredible. People running, dogs playing, sailing lessons on the Charles, concerts at the Hatch Shell, and fireworks on the Fourth of July.

What’s the deal with Storrow Drive? It seems that no matter which side you merge onto, the exit you want is always on the opposite side, across two lanes of traffic.

The Harry Houdini Bridge

Also known as the Harvard Bridge, the MIT Bridge, and the Mass Ave Bridge. It’s measured in smoots (look it up!), and Harry Houdini performed a daring escape here in 1908.

Cambridge is just across the Charles River from Boston and is home to Harvard and MIT and was the hometown of Robert B. Parker.

Lizzy and Diesel took Mass Ave several times on their quest for the Luxuria Stone. They never once stopped at Crate & Barrel. What were they thinking?!

Houses in Boston’s Back Bay

I’ve spent lots of time walking these streets, looking at the houses. I think it would be great to live here … maybe not forever but for a while. I’d choose Commonwealth Avenue because it has a grassy median running the length of it and I’d have someplace to take my dog to poop.

Beacon Hill, Massachusetts

When walking Beacon Hill, always wear sensible shoes. Not only is it a hill, but heels and uneven brick sidewalks don’t mix. I know this for sure because I once saw my daughter running down Mount Vernon Street in four-inch heels in the rain and it wasn’t pretty.

This is a good place to live in Boston, if you can afford it. All the houses have parking. I suspect that’s what makes the houses so expensive. Have you ever tried to find a parking spot on Beacon Hill, much less a spot where you don’t have to worry about your car getting sideswiped by a delivery truck? Good luck!
