“I wouldn't mind being away from civilization for a while,” Amanda said, smiling. “And I could use a little water and air and forest. Plus, I'm just in the mood for a long, long drive.”
He kissed her. “What do you say, Tommy?” he asked, unlatching the harness and lifting the baby out. He held the precious boy against his chest and kissed the top of his head. “I think you'll like Maine,” he told Tommy. “I can teach you how to fish.”
Amanda smiled. “Let's go before I start bawling.
And as they left the brownstone and walked up Seventy-fourth, Ethan carrying Tommy, Amanda slipped her arm through Ethan's, and the family headed for home.
