David himself was standing up at the front
of the tent, across from Grimaldi and next to his father. He looked
proud and a bit nervous. They were both wearing tuxedos, with
bowties and cummerbunds and gardenia boutonnières, and David looked
like a miniature version of Rafe.

Rafe...

Well, he didn’t look nervous. And of course
he was stunning.

Yes, he looks good naked. But the tuxedo ran
a close second. And later I could take him from one to the other
and get to enjoy both.

Where I’d been a bit concerned that he’d be
uncomfortable—with the monkey suit, the mansion, the whole big
production number in front of everyone in our old hometown—he
looked perfectly at ease.

I was the one who couldn’t get my feet to
move, while the wedding march reached the end and started for a
second time.

Audrey leaned across the sheriff to Aunt
Regina and whispered something.

Rafe raised his voice. “Don’t dawdle,
darlin’. Let’s get this over with so I can get outta this
suit.”

The audience tittered. I could practically
see Mother’s brows wrinkle through the back of her head.

I grinned and headed up the aisle to claim
the man I adored, the man who was everything I’d ever wanted, even
if he was nothing I’d been told I should have. In front of God and
Mother and everyone in Sweetwater.
