Some of
Kaitlyn’s music played and Ruth, Toby and Amy, the girl from the first show
walked out. They sat on three chairs in the centre of the stage and Kaitlyn
walked over to join them. I took over Kaitlyn’s speech while she braced herself
for what was coming. Aaron came on and drew a curtain around all four of them.

“Now, this
is big secret number one. Kaitlyn was mugged when she was fifteen, this is what
happened to her. Remember that this is hard for everyone over there.”

They dropped
the curtain and the four of them stood in there swimwear, we had a spotlight
land on each of them individually so that every detail was highlighted for the
world to see.

Someone from
the crew handed them all a microphone.

“I was
pushed onto broken glass when they mugged me.” Kaitlyn turned slowly to reveal
every scar on her body. She pointed to Amy, who stepped forward.

“I was on a
tube during 7/7.”

As Amy
Stepped back Ruth stepped forward. “I was in a house fire when I was four.”

Ruth helped
Toby who still had bruises and recent wounds from the crash. “I was in a car
crash.”

Kaitlyn
thanked the others and Ryan came onto the stage and handed each of them a gown.
Kaitlyn slipped into a dress and came back to join me. She explained a bit more
about what happened during the mugging and her ex-boyfriends words when he
broke up with her and how they both inspired her music and in particular the
song
Blood and Roses
.

“Wow that
must have taken a lot for you to do that tonight.” Howard started a round of
applause and the noise was deafening. “That’s some inspiration.”

“Actually
that was only inspiration for me to live to the full. My family, in
particularly my Mum is my true inspiration.”

I nodded to
Graham who sat near the tech crew and they started showing some photos of
Kaitlyn and her family. Kaitlyn choked and her dad motioned for me to continue
for her.

“Kaitlyn’s
mum died when she was nine. We’d rather show you this than explain.”

The screen
changed to video clips of news broadcasts detailing her accident. One clip was
actually filmed on Kaitlyn’s street.

Here this
weekend tragedy struck. A young woman, described as a pillar of her community
slipped in the bitterly winter conditions. For two days her children sat in
that house there, alone and scared, just meters from her body

They showed
various other clips and newspaper cuttings. Kaitlyn wiped her eyes as did a lot
of other people.

“So this
song is something I haven’t played for anyone before. This is for you mum.”

Kaitlyn went
over to a piano and played the most beautiful song I’d ever heard. It was bound
to go viral, just like her first single. When she began to sing I think my
heart actually stopped. I’d never met anyone like Kaitlyn before and I doubted
I’d meet anyone like her again.

While you brush my hair

I can feel the love

And I love you too

‘Cause I always will do.

“This was
Kaitlyn
Fox: uncovered
on the Howard Collin’s show for our very first celebrity
takeover. Thank you for watching and goodnight.”

The audience
applauded and the entire front row made up of our friends and family invaded
the stage to congratulate me and Kaitlyn. We thanked the crew and producers of
the show and headed back stage. Earlier my parents had had the idea to hire a
coach to take us to
Zinc
and we were all excited to get out and grab a
drink.

“I don’t
think I’ve said it yet.” Ryan said from behind Kaitlyn.

“Said what?”

“You’re
whipped. Jamie Stark is whipped.” I laughed and threw a nearby script at him.

“You are
though.” Kaitlyn said as she skipped ahead of me.

“Really? I
disagree.”

“You would.
You’re to macho to admit I rule your life.”

“You think
I’m macho?”

“I rule your
life too, did you not hear that part.”

Kaitlyn went
to put on her scarf and jacket and I stopped her. She looked at me then walked
over to the bin and put them in.

“You’re
right. I don’t need to hide anymore.”

“You never
did Kaitlyn. You’re beautiful.”

“I love you
Jamie Stark.”

“I love you
too Kaitlyn Fox.”
