Epilogues:

Angelica Elizabeth Ferrano

We got married in a beautiful little church with his family around us. He wore a tux. He was beautiful. I wore a white strapless wedding gown and a veil and left my hair loose and curly. He’d also bought me a new necklace for my birthday a few weeks before, which I wore on our wedding day. It was simple, white gold, and consisted of three chains with a pendant of two hearts linked together. When he lifted my veil he fingered a curl and gave me a dazzling beautiful smile as he gently poked the side of my nose on the tiny diamond. I had put my nose piercing back in the night before.

Maybe after everything I’d been through I wasn’t Angie Macleod any longer but I was looking forward to being Angel Ferrano.

The wedding happened a month after he’d proposed. He’d been busy with work during the day and at nighttime he was always there, always attentive. Sometimes we played rough and sometimes we played gentle. He seemed okay with the rough, okay with my submissive tendencies. We were very compatible sexually.

I was thinking about my future. I wanted to get back to teaching, maybe. Dare asked me to hang tight while he finished sorting out some business stuff. He didn’t know how long until they’d be free of Kruna. He said there’d been complications with a few business areas that he was trying to get out of but was kind of tight-lipped about it. I didn’t push. I was busy trying to find myself in my new life after being a sex slave. I didn’t ask him about the partner summit but that date had come and gone.

I took an art class a few blocks away. It was only once a week but it was fun. I walked there and back alone and I often walked to the library, to the park to watch kids play, to feed the ducks by myself, and occasionally I stopped by the office to bring Dare lunch, a cup of his favorite coffee, or just to give him a kiss.

One day just a few days before our wedding I walked through the park at lunchtime and saw Dare’s ex there. She was sitting with a few girls eating lunch. It was the same place I’d seen her the first time. She glanced at me. She recognized me. She looked to her lap and said nothing to me. So I kept walking. I glanced over my shoulder when I was almost past her and saw her looking at me, a sad look on her face. She really screwed herself when she screwed him over. At least she was smart enough to heed his warnings to stay out of our lives. Poor stupid girl. But it was my boon. If she hadn’t shredded his heart he’d never have been at Kruna, picking up his birthday gift.

Me.

Lisa wasn’t at our wedding. She was away at a retreat but she and I had been texting. She phoned me the night before our wedding, when I was having a girls’ night in with Tia, Tess, and Luc for my bachelorette party. Lisa phoned me and I slipped into a bedroom at Tessa and Lisa’s place to have some privacy. She said the therapy was helping and said that she wanted me to do the same, to not bury what we’d been through. She said she was getting so much out of it that she was thinking that after Dare and Tommy were clear of the Kruna world maybe she and I could start up a charity of some sort to help those who’d been through what we’d gone through.

I didn’t know how soon the guys would be clear of Kruna. I didn’t know if it’d ever happen, and if it did I doubted we could be so public about our truths but I didn’t want to burst Lisa’s bubble. She seemed confident we’d find our way out. She told me she couldn’t get into details about how she knew we’d get out but said for me to think about it. She wished me a happy wedding day and said she’d be home as soon as she could be.

The wedding was a dream come true. We had a little reception afterwards where we danced together to the song “Make Me Do Anything You Want” as our wedding dance. It was perfect for us. And then the music got upbeat and me and Tia and Luc and Tessa danced our asses off until my new husband whisked me away after the reception to a hotel nearby for our wedding night, which had a whole lot of loud and energetic drunken marriage consummating. And for some odd reason there was nothing submissive about me
that
night.

The next day when I woke up my Master, my husband, the love of my life was coming into the hotel suite.  He sat down in front of the window looking like the weight of the world was on his shoulders.

“Good morning, hubby,” I stretched and smiled, wondering where he’d been, “Guess what?”

“What, baby?” he didn’t look at me.

“I did something as a wedding present.”

He looked at me but he wasn’t smiling.

“When I had the stitches out from my leg and I told you the doc referred me to that plastic surgeon? I didn’t tell you everything. I also got a referral to another doctor and the day Luc took me to the appointment for the plastic surgery consultation I had another appointment, too. I had the doctor take my IUD out. Surprise! Never know… we might’ve made a baby on our wedding night.”

He was looking very troubled.

My heart sank, “I thought you’d be happy. Is it too soon for that?” I couldn’t wait to give him babies. Maybe I shouldn’t have made that decision on my own.

“I
am
happy. I’m gonna be so happy when we start our family, my baby. I’m sorry for my anticlimactic reaction but I got a call a little while ago and had to go down and meet with Zack in the lobby. What I’ve gotta tell you is gonna be hard. I can’t keep it from you. That wouldn’t be right.”

I sat upright.  He walked over, sat, and put his hand on the back of my neck and squeezed reassuringly, “I wanted to find a way to get you and your sister in touch safely like. So I got Zack’s team on it. Told him to look her up and feel out the situation. Would’ve loved to have had her here for yesterday, baby.”

My mouth dropped open. I felt the panic trying to set in. I pushed it back.  He kept talking.

“Zack couldn’t find Holly in Alaska anywhere so he did some looking. As it turns out, her grandmother got sick and your mother got wind of it and called CPS and CPS had returned her to your mother before the Kruna scumbags had people kidnap her.”

“She…” I could barely breathe, “She’s not in Alaska?”

“Whoever picked her up from your mother didn’t return her. Your mother never reported her missing. The grandmother didn’t get better. Died a few months later. Your mother figured Holly ran away. Holly has been gone for almost as long as you have.”

The world stopped turning. Holly. Oh God.

“We think we know where she is, though. I’m gonna find out, Angel. I’ll do everything I can to find her for you.”

He pulled me into his arms and I grabbed him and held on tight.

Tia

Tommy has to be here for now so we’re staying and I’m totally okay with it. We’re going back to Costa Rica soon for a week to close up the house. Now that Dare’s wedding is done we’re leaving in a few days. He and Dare are working together at Ferrano Enterprises. A few of the subsidiaries were sold but they haven’t finished their clean-up. Tommy rented a house a few doors down from his father’s house. It’s just for now, while we figure things out but I love the house and love that it’s just down the street from family.

He’s doing therapy and he really seems like he’s doing better. He’s busy with work, he’s on the webcam with Oliver three times a week. I see a difference in him. It’s good. Really good.

I’ve been hanging out with the girls and with Angel, too. She had me and Tess and Luc be bridesmaids and it’s been nice to have friends again.  Now that I know we’re staying put here for at least a while, I’ve called Ruby and she, Mia, and Beth are coming for a girls’ night while Tommy is out of town on business. He’s going to be gone three days and then when he gets back we’re going to Costa Rica. While he’s gone he’ll have Nino and Dex doing shiftwork staying with me here (and had a state-of-the-art security system put in); and even though that’s overprotective, believe me, for Tommy it is huge progress.

The day after Dare’s wedding when I woke up I felt something warm on top of me and something wet on my face.

I opened my eyes and was greeted with a big pink tongue. I winced and then realized it was a puppy’s tongue. I reached forward and grabbed the big yellow fluff ball and saw my husband sitting on the edge of the bed, a huge smile on his handsome face. The puppy was a golden retriever, maybe about six or eight weeks old, and he was furiously licking the air and whining while I held him at arm’s length. He had a big pink bow around his neck.

“Oh my gooooodddd!” I squished the puppy against me, “Tommy!”

“Like him?”

“I love him! I love you!” I put the pup down and threw myself at Tommy.

“Follow me.” He backed off the bed, putting me on my feet.

I scooped up my puppy and followed him downstairs and out the front door. Our house was similar to his father’s house. An older large Tudor style home and it had two big gates out front, which Tommy liked for security reasons. I liked it because the place had character. Big rooms, architectural details. Gorgeous gardens. Apparently I was a bit of a green thumb. I’d been spending time tending the flowerbeds and really enjoying it. Tommy said we’d see what was what and maybe we’d buy it.

Out front was a brand new metallic orange jeep. It had a big black bow across the hood.

“What?” I stared at it. I put the dog down. He went to a tree and lifted his leg and peed, “Good boy, Marley!” I said and leaned over and patted his head.

“Marley?” Tommy asked.

“Of course. What else could it be?” I replied, staring at the jeep.

“Is that for me?”

“It is. It comes with driving lessons so you can finish your license.”

“Really?”

“Really,” he replied and put his arms around me, “Time to start livin’, baby girl. I’ll be a nervous wreck for the first bit so be patient with me, okay? And go slow. Don’t take off every five minutes or I’ll have to drag you home and tie you to the bed. Alrighty?”

“Alrighty.” I put my arms around his neck, “I love you. I need to run to the store now, actually. Do you mind if I dash out?”

“Uh…” he looked a bit flipped out, “you don’t even have your full license yet.”

“It’s just the drug store around the corner,” I said, “It’s like two minutes.”

“What do you need at the drugstore? Maybe me and Marley will just tag along.”

I smiled, took a big breath, and then I said, “I need to stop and buy a pregnancy test. I’m a week late.”

His eyes bulged.

“I did the math and my birth control implant has been in now for over 3 years so it’s possible it’s stopped working.”

His eyes bulged some more.

“Are you okay?” I reached for him. He grabbed me and squeezed and swung me around. He said nothing but his eyes were filled with wet. He reached into his pocket and handed me the keys and then whistled, “Marley, come. We need to go to the drugstore. And then maybe the cigar store.”

I opened the door to my new jeep and turned the ignition while my husband put our puppy in the back seat.

Tommy

While Tia was in the washroom doing the pregnancy test I got a text from Ben Goldberg. He wants me and Dare at the grand opening of Fete in Vegas. We own 34%, Ben owns 34%, John Lewis owns the rest. It’s happening a week before Christmas, two weeks after the Kruna partner summit, which got rescheduled due to Gan Chen’s injuries.

I replied to say I’d be there and I paced, waiting for my wife to come out and tell me whether or not we were going to be parents. Me, a father. The idea of sharing Tia with anyone else doesn’t sit well. But the idea of being a father, being responsible for molding a kid into the kind of person he’s gonna become? That’s fucking huge. Am I really ready for that shit? I’m still trying to keep my head together after the events of the last few months. And there are going to be some rocky months ahead what with the Kruna bullshit. But the idea of her carrying my baby? The idea that our love created life? It’s fucking beautiful.

As I’m pacing I see the pup has something. I lean over. Shit, Tia’s not gonna be happy. The dog has chewed one of her favorite pairs of red-soled heels. I grab the shoe from the dog, “No. Bad!” I tell him and hear the bathroom door open. She’s standing there, flushed, smiling, holding the stick.

“It’s positive,” she says, “It’s supposed to take two minutes but the second I peed on it, it went positive. Do you think it’s right?”

I smiled, “With my strong swimmers, no surprise. Oh yeah, it’s right.”

She wrinkled her nose at me, looking adorable, “You’re so full of yourself.”

I laughed, “Come here, wife, so
you
can be full of me.”

She walked over, blowing out a slow breath, “We’re gonna be parents, Tommy.”

“I know, baby girl. You’re gonna be an amazing mother. Come here.” I dropped to my knees and tossed the shoe behind me and lifted her sweater and kissed her bare belly. She put her hand in my hair and smiled, eyes shining with tears.

“I love you,” she said.

“Love you, too, baby girl.”

“Thanks for the puppy.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Thanks for the new wheels.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Thanks for the baby,” she giggled.

I smiled, “Thanks for loving me despite my flaws. There’s a lot of them.”
