Epilogue

Destiny

Water laps the rocky coastline, sweeping across the stony beach and into the fields beyond. Silence. Ash no longer stains this place. It has been cleansed and soon life may grow anew in its soil.

Calm, everything, for once. The battered and bruised body twists through the current, pushed onto a muddy verge, face up, overwhelmed by the horrors of the day.

The stars glisten, raining down ethereal messages from heaven. But they go unanswered, for who can understand the language of angels?

‘It wasn’t my time… wasn’t my time…’ splutters a seascarred voice. But no one hears and the sounds drift up and merge with the angelic messages.
