CHAPTER 8

                                            JUSTICE

I woke up bright and early this morning. I already washed up and handled my hygiene. I wanted to hit the shower before I was released but that was just a waste of time. As soon as I got home, I was going to shower and change clothes anyway. I was just ready to get the fuck out of here. I was supposed to been released at 7 this morning, here it is going on 9 and these motherfuckas still haven’t come to get me yet. I skipped breakfast and let my cell mate have the stuff I got from the commissary. I couldn’t wait until I got to my mom’s because I knew she was going to throw down in the kitchen.

I was spending all day with my family. I’ve been missing my son’s like crazy. The last time I saw them, they were too young to understand why daddy had to leave them. Now with the help of Harlem, they knew everything. I heard he done corrupt my boys and turned them into mini Harlem’s. All that was going to change as soon as I got home. They can talk that shit to their Nana and Uncle but daddy don’t play. I’ll go upside their heads real quick if they ever tried me.

“Inmate Carter, time to go.” The fat guard banged on the bars to get my attention. He didn’t have to tell me twice. I jumped off the bunk and waited for him to open the cell door.

It took us about 10 minutes just to get to the front and about 40 to get processed out. I changed back into what I came in with and signed what seemed like a thousand papers. I walked out happy to be a free man again. I looked around to see if I saw Harlem’s black Monte Carlo but I didn’t. Instead, I saw this nigga sitting pretty in a white 2015 Fisker Karma. I walked over and tried to open the passenger door but it was locked.

“Oh shit, my bad Bruh.” He laughed cradling the phone between his ear and shoulder. He unlocked the door and I hopped in. “Hold on Bae,” he told the caller. “What’s up Bruh?” We hugged each other tightly and for too long for my liking. We pushed each other back at the same time and started laughing. “Aite nigga, damn.”

“I know you aint scared nigga, round here locking doors and shit.” I joked.

“Scared? Bruh you better check my background,” he boasted picking back up his phone. I knew he was far from scared. I just wanted to fuck with him.

“Whatever nigga lets go,” I laughed. “I don’t want to look at this shit hole for another second.”

“Who’s the scared one now?” Harlem said lighting the tip of his blunt and pulled off.

“I’m ready to see my shorties.” I said taking the blunt out of his hand.

“Shorties? Ain’t nothing about them little niggas short. Man they are big as hell now running around talking shit and all. Mama ain’t doing nothing but spoiling their ass.”

“That’s what I heard and what’s this I hear you trying to corrupt my son’s?” I asked passing the blunt back.

“Look bruh, I can’t help it if they want to be like their Uncle Harlem.” He joked. “Besides, those boys got your blood in them. They were born bad, it’s in their DNA.”

“Whatever, what’s up with Tammi?” I asked and he told whoever he was on the phone with his was going to call them back.

“She aite. But you already know how I feel about her, that bitch can drown in liquor and I won’t give a fuck.” He laughed but I didn’t see anything funny.

“How many times I got to tell you, she’s the mother of my boys and as long as she is, you have to respect her like it.” I said looking at the side of his face. I knew he was mad because his jaw tensed up.

Harlem knows who to break bad with and I wasn’t one of them. He the hardest nigga around until it came to me. He knew off back I hate to feel disrespected, he tried that once and had to get helped off the ground. Even though Harlem is my brother, I still don’t show no weakness when it comes to him. I don’t take kindly to disrespect or to be played as a pussy nigga for no one and Harlem tried me on both levels that day and I had to put him in his place. He thought because he was my brother he could talk to me any kind of way. What made the situation worse was that he did it in front of my entire crew.

Niggas know who the fuck I am and I wasn’t about to have those niggas thinking they could come at me sideways. So, what better way to show them than my own blood?

“Bruh, you hear me.” Harlem said breaking me from my thought.

“Nah, what you say?”

“My bad about Tam. I just don’t see how you can ask about the bitch after what she took you and the twins through.”

“I feel you but I can’t just not try and help her.” I said wondering if she’s good or not. Have she been eating and where she staying at?

“You still love her, don’t you?” Harlem asked out the blue.

“Man, what?” I replied.

“You heard me nigga, I said do you still love her?”

“Bruh, she’s the mother of kids. I will always have love for Tammi but as far as being in love with her, nah I aint fucking with her like that.”

“Yea whatever, ima try and change that.” I let him talk and looked out the window. It’ll be hard to find somebody to replace Tammi. I aint even going to lie besides my family, I thought about her a lot. It wasn’t on no get back together shit, I just wanted her to get sober and stay sober.

Pulling up in front of my mom’s house, I remembered when I first bought it for her. When I was younger, I used to always hear her talking with my aunts about her dream house. She wanted a 5 bedroom 3 bath ranch style country house on a half-acre land. Picture the look on her face when I took her to go see a house that similar to something she always wanted. The only difference was it was sitting on two and a half acres.

“Dad, dad, hey dad.” Jordan and Javier came rushing towards the car before I had a chance to get out. I opened the door and hugged the both of them tight not wanting to let them go.

“Dad you finally home, huh?” Jordan asked. Being the oldest out the two of them by 12 minutes he was also the smartest but I can still see that hustle ambitious in his eyes. I can sometimes see myself in Jordan, he was always the calmer one and too smooth for his age.

“Yea, I’m here,” I said smiling. I was so happy to be there with that I couldn’t hide it. I would never show my emotions for nothing but when it came to my boys I would cry a fucking river.

“Now make sure you never leave us again because Nana is worse some.” Javier said. He was baby in everybody eyes but wouldn’t dare be treated like one. Even though I love Jordan and Javier the same, I was over protective when it came to Javier. I think it is because I watched him fight for his life when he was first born. He had to have a kidney transplant and two blood transfusions due to Tammi’s obsessive drinking. I saw a lot of Harlem in Javier. His eyes could be cold as ice just like Harlem’s. He never cried when he was a baby and I always thought that was strange. Even when he got his ass tore up for being bad, my mother says he never shed a tear.

“I heard that boy,” my mother said slapping Javier upside his head. She reached in a grabbed me for a big hug. My mother was a little on the heavy side, she wasn’t fat just thick. So when she squeezed my neck I thought she was trying to suffocate me.

“Damn ma, you gone choke me out.”

“Im sorry son, I’m just so glad you’re home.” She said with tears in her eyes.

“Let’s go eat dad,” Jordan and Javier said at the same time. They smiled showing off a pair of deep dimples that they inherited from me.

“I see that hasn’t changed.” I said walking in the house.

“Hell nawl, they get on my nerves with that shit too.” Harlem replied.

“So,” they both said mugging him.

“I know you don’t want to see me.” Jordan said balling his fist up.

“Chill bruh, he gone have to see me if he do.” Javier looked over at Harlem with a daring look.

“See what I mean, bad as hell.” Harlem chuckled.

I just shook my head and walked in the kitchen where my mother was preparing dinner. “Ma, why you spoil them like that?” I said sitting at the table.

“The same way I did with you and Harlem.” She said rolling dough. “Now go get cleaned up, dinner will be ready in a minute.” I kissed her cheek and told her thank you before walking away. She waved me off with tears in her eyes.

After spending time with my boys and eating that big feast, I was tired. I tried to go to bed to get some sleep but Harlem came in all loud. He asked if I felt like riding out with him. Since the twins were about to get in bed and I didn’t have anything else to do, I agreed to ride.

I got up and walked over to my closet when Harlem left out.
A nigga don’t have shit here.
I thought while shuffling through the clothes.
I need to take my ass home
I thought looking down at my watch. Before I was setup and hit with that four year bid, I had just brought a seven bedroom 8.5 bath home out in Pellyn Wood. Me and the twins couldn’t even enjoy our new place because somebody tried to fuck me over.

Instead of driving almost 30 minutes just to go change. I went with my crisp white Crown Holder jeans, my white and black Billionaire Boys Club V-neck shirt and black high top Guiesseppe sneakers. I hopped in the shower and let the hot water massage my body. I washed up with Dove for men soap for about 15 minutes before getting out with the towel wrapped around my waist. I wiped the fog off the mirror and licked my lips. Them four years didn’t do shit to me but add a little more muscle I didn’t need. At only 26, 6’4, 237 pounds of solid brick, I’m every chocolate lover’s addiction. I got smooth dark brown skin, hazel brown eyes with black hair that I kept cut low and waves that’ll make you sea sick. My masculine jaw, juicy lips and deep set dimples can give any woman an orgasm just by smiling or winking at them.

“Dad, uncle Harlem said hurry yo ass up.” Jordan laughed.

“Aite but watch yo mouth. I don’t know what your Nana and uncle let yall do but yall gone show some respect when you around me.” I stated. He said ok and walked away smiling. I shook my head, seeing already how hard it was going to be trying to break them out of it. I got dressed, put on my gold Rolex and gold pinky ring then turned off the light to leave. I made sure the boys where in bed and told my mother I would be back later.

I hopped in Harlem’s car feeling like a new man. The only thing missing is my half a million dollar custom made Bentley. Harlem was on the phone so I decided to eaves drop. “Aite..yea..im leaving now…whatever yo I had to wait on my brother…yea just be there..aite one.”

“You ready?” Harlem asked looking my outfit over. “I see you.”

“Oh this aint shit, I made it easy for you tonight.” I laughed and he pulled off saying whatever nigga. I love fucking with Harlem. He know he can’t do it better than me. Who he thought taught him.

CHAPTER 9

                                                                      JAZMYN

I had just pulled up in front of my mother’s house when Mya called my phone. I knew she was here because her car was outside, so I didn’t understand why she was calling me. Before she could speak, I told her I was outside and hung up. I had just left the beauty salon from getting my hair done which took over four hours. I got it washed and did in a silky wrap. If I wasn’t gossiping with my stylist Toni, I would’ve been out of there. If you wanted info on something or somebody go to Toni. He knew everybody’s business before it even hit the street.

As soon as I walked in the strong smell of Kush hit me in the face. The cloud of smoke was so thick that I had to squint just to see where I was going. I rolled my eyes at a couple of niggas that was sitting on my mother’s couch trying to mack.
They aint got shit else better to do.
I thought while walking to my room. I couldn’t wait to get the hell away from here. I have been saving up enough paper for this small apartment I had my eyes on since I moved out of Prince’s house. I already put the deposit down on it, I just needed to save five hundred more to the six I already have saved then I can move in.

I don’t see how my mother does it. I can’t have a house full of niggas running in and out every day any time they get ready to. I can’t say that I’m not used to it though, my mother been this way since I was little. I opened my door and walked in my room to find Samya in my closet.

“Uh un bitch, what you doing?” I asked picking up the clothes she had thrown on the bed.

“Trying to find you something to where.” She said still in my closet.

“For what?”

“Oh because you going with me tonight.” I grabbed her out of my closet and closed the door.

“I didn’t say I was going anywhere, how are you just going to volunteer me to go somewhere?”

“Jaz all you do is sit in this room, in the dark. I don’t know about you but that shit is scary and if I didn’t know any better I would think you was a vampire.” She laughed but I didn’t see anything funny. Samya was always corny when it came to jokes, she couldn’t tell one to save her life. “Nawl but for real, Jazmyn. Please come, I don’t want to be there by myself. Harlem’s brother just came home and he’s going to be there, I don’t want to be the only girl.” She said.

“My-My please, the club is full of bitches, aite.” I said stuffing my clothes back in the dressers.

“We not even going to the club, it’s a bar. Please Jaz, I’m begging you.”

“No.”

“Please, please, pleaseeeee” she pleaded.

“Mya no, because you think you slick, you trying set me up and I aint having it.”

“Jaz it’s not even like that, I’m just thinking about you ok! So get your ass dress and be ready in 30 minutes cause you going even if I got to drag yo ass out of here.”

I hesitated for a while but gave in. “Ok but I’m driving because if dude is ugly I’m leaving. Shit, you better be glad I just got my hair done or either you would be on your own.”

She jumped up and down then ran over to me kissing my cheek. “Thanks boo, and if he looks anywhere near like Harlem you know that nigga fine.” She said walking out of my room.

I plopped down on the bed and kicked my shoes off. I looked over at the clock on my wall, wishing I never told Mya yes. Instead of bitching, I got up to get ready. We were just going to a bar so wasn’t no need for me to get to dressy. I stuck with my baby blue high waisted skinny pants, my white long sleeve crop top tee and white Christian Louboutins pumps. After stepping out the shower and getting dressed, I brushed my teeth and took my wrap down. I added some nude pink lipstick and a little mascara. My gold chain and tennis bracelet went good with my gold Christian Dior clutch.

“Jaz I hope you ready ca…” Mya said walking into my room. “Damn bitch, that ass sitting real pretty in those jeans.”

“What you talking about? Look at you,” I said smacking her booty in her low rise pants. She had on a pink blouse with a deep V showing off her girls and some nude colored Jimmy Choo’s.

“Girl I’m trying to get me some tonight. It’s been a few weeks since I had some dick and I been feening for it.” She said walking out with me behind her.

We pulled up to the bar and got out. “This is nice” I said looking at how the place was beautifully decorated. I told Samya that I would be right back and that I was going to the bar. She said ok and for me to come up to VIP when I was finished.

I walked over to the bar and took a seat on one of the many bar stools. The bartender saw me waiting and walked over. “What can I get you Ms. Lady?” he asked looking me over.

“A pineapple Ciroc and a shot of Patron please.” I needed to be tipsy to get through one of Samya’s blind dates. He said ok and winked at me when he walked off. He was kind of cute to but the whole face piercing was a big turn off for me. He came back with my drinks and I pulled out my wallet to pay when he stopped me and said it was already taken care of.

I asked from who and he pointed at some guy down by the bar. I couldn’t get a good look at dude because of how dimly lit the bar was. I waved to thank him and saw him walking over.
Ah hell.
I thought knocking back the shot. I didn’t have time to be getting hit on, especially by some thirsty ass man.

Damn,
I thought watching him walk over. It seemed like the closer he got, the finer he became. I couldn’t tear my eyes off of him; no matter how hard I tried they wouldn’t budge.

“What’s up beautiful, you mind if I sit with you?” he smiled and I almost came looking at his dimples.

“By all means.”

“How are you doing tonight? I’m Justice.”

“Fine and I’m Jazmyn. Thanks for the drink.”

“Pleasure was all mines. So Ms. Jazmyn, what is a beautiful woman like yourself doing out all alone. Where ya man at?” he asked.

“Actually, I’m here with my sister. We’re supposed to be meeting her boyfriend here. I just had to stop and get a drink before I go over.”

“You don’t seem like you want to be here.”

“That’s because I don’t, I know my sister is trying to set me up and I don’t have time for it. I really just want to chill.” I replied

“Well come chill with me for tonight. I can’t say that I won’t get at you, any man would be stupid not to. I want to get to know you a little better.”

“I wish I could but I can’t just leave my sister hanging. I actually need to get going before she come looking for me. Nice meeting you though Justice and thanks again for the drink.” I said getting up to leave.

“Anytime Ma. Hopefully I’ll get to see you again.” He replied and I walked off blushing. I had to use the bathroom so I stopped at the ladies room before heading over where Mya was.

“About damn time, I was just about to come get you.” Mya said as soon as I walked over. I waved off and said hey to Harlem. “Girl you already met Harlem but this is his brother …”

“Justice” I said his name the same time she did.

“I know I said I’ll see you around but I never thought it would have been this soon.” Justice smirked.

“Hold up, yall know each other?” Harlem asked.

“Something like that, you remember that lil chick I was telling you about that I met at the bar?” Justice said then looked at me. “This is her.” He patted the seat next to him and Samya practically pushed me towards him.

I sat down beside Justice and he asked did I want anything to drink. I said yes and he poured me a glass of Ciroc. “So Ms. Jazmyn, you never answered my question.”

“And what question was that?” I asked

“Where ya man at?”

“I don’t have one. I recently just got out a bad relationship an...”

“More like domestic relationship.” Samya said and I gave her a look. I dropped my head not wanting to look at anybody. I couldn’t believe she just told a complete stranger my business. Justice lifted my chin up and looked me in the eyes.

“You too beautiful to be letting any nigga put his hands on you. I don’t know you and that bitch nigga history and I aint the one to judge but you can do better than that ma, for real.”

“That’s what I’ve been saying.” Samya butted in.

“Mya shut the fuck up yo. You all in their shit when you supposed to be here with me.” Harlem said shocking the hell out of me. I took him for the quiet type but I guess I was wrong.

“First of all nigga, you can calm down aite. That’s my sister we talking about and as long as my name is Samya ima always be in her shit unless she tells me otherwise...”

“You can stop,” I said causing Harlem and Justice both to laugh.

I finished up my conversation with Justice until Mya butted back in. We all talked and sipped on our drinks listening to Harlem and Samya crack jokes on one another. The entire time, I kept sneaking looks at Justice and he was doing the same. He winked at me one time letting me know that I was caught. After a few hours of laughing and getting to know each other better, I was tired and ready to go. Samya said she was leaving with Harlem, like I didn’t already know that. I told them good night and Justice said he’ll walk me to my car.

“So Jazmyn, when ima get to see you again?”

“I don’t know. When do you want to see me?” I flirted.

“To be honest, I don’t really want to let you go tonight. My brother is throwing me a welcome home Cookout this weekend and you should come but I don’t think I can wait until then to see you.” He said and I smiled.

I gave him my number and told him to call me maybe we could work something out. He said aite and kissed my forehead before walking off. I squirmed in my seat feeling my juices running down my thighs. I watched him walk away before driving off.
The things I’ll do to him,
I said to myself while heading home.
