“
Fine, if that
is how you want it.” She removed her wedding band and slammed it
down on my desk. “Have her. Don’t think I won’t fight for my son.
I'll see you in count” she said sternly and stormed out of my
office.
I scooped up her ring with one
hand and held them tightly. Now I was beginning to regret
mentioning divorce. I was hard too on her. I let out a little air
from my mouth and sighed. I was such a shit head.
I placed her rings in my
pocket. I had to clean this all up before it got out of hand. I
jumped up and ran out of my office and to the lift at the same time
they closed. Great, looked like it was the stairs for me. Thank god
it was only one floor.
I ran as fast as I could and a
slight smile came to my face. I had done this before. I flew
through the door and into the lobby. I froze…
I watched my
wife run into the arms of Riley and him hugging her tight. I placed
my hand in my pocket and felt her rings.
Dumb fucking shit!
I had screwed up –
true style. With my free hand I smashed it into a wall. That was
it! Fuck her! She was clearly into Riley and now I was single.
Maybe it was time to teach Mrs Thomas a lesson.

Georgina
I couldn't sleep. I had been
tossing and turning for which felt like hours. Today had been the
worse day of my life and I felt numb and empty. I kept looking at
wedding band mark and each time it was heart breaking. That was the
final item I had of Maxwell's procession of me. I looked over and
Riley was still laid next to me. I was really grateful to him for
being kind and not leaving me alone.
My whole world had ended within
the last 24 hours and now I had no idea of who I was or what I was
going to do. I felt like something had been removed and it would
never be replaceable.
He didn't even run after me and
he wanted to be with someone else. I was no longer his fix or his
craving. My stomach was still hurting and I was in a lot of
physical pain. My eyes were puffy, red and sore.
“
You okay?”
Riley asked, stopping my thoughts in their tracks. I turned to face
him and shook my head. He reached out and ran his hand through my
hair.
“
Why did I do
it, Riley?” I thought out loud.
He looked confused and rested
his head in his hands. “Do what? Maxwell has just got a one tracked
mind. He is foolish, Georgina.”
“
I just don't
know who I am without him” I stopped and a little smile sprung to
my lips. He was actually listening to me, no had listened to me in
years.
For 3 years... I had been the
mother, the wife, the business woman. It was time to get Georgina
Dawson back and start living my life. I had to prove to Maxwell and
his little whore they didn't bother me.
Riley leaned forward and gave a
boyish grin. “You fancy some vodka?”
I quickly sat up and pulled my
knees into my chest. “Me and Maxwell drank vodka in London in his
flat years ago. I guess you could say that was the start of
everything.”
“
Well... you
are a dark horse” he joked, while leaving the room.
I gave a little laugh which
surprised me. To laugh on the day your husband demands a divorce.
Was that normal?
Riley reappeared with the vodka
and glasses. He came back over to the bed and sat cross legged in
front of me. He began to fill the vodka shots.
“
Does Blake
have a problem with me?” Riley handed me my shot glass and I stared
at it. The last time I had even touched vodka shots was in Cannes.
It was meant to be a romantic weekend away and instead Maxwell’s
sister Amber showed up.
Why was everything reminding me
of my Mr Golden rule? I felt my heart break a little bit more.
Everything had changed so quickly and I was missing him.
His magic mouth; the way he
spoke, his intoxicating scent and the way he could dominate a room
just by his presence. He was everything I had ever wanted in a
man.
“
Ignore
Blake... for some reason he has decided to take the moral high
ground. He should be gone soon anyway.” Riley's eyes met mine and a
massive smile appeared on his face. “Ready?” He held up his glass.
“After three... One,Two,Three!”
We both downed the vodka. I
could feel it burning all the way down my throat. I had to inhale
sharply to try and regain my breath. Riley shook his head. I
thought his eyes were going to pop out. We both looked at each and
burst out laughing.
“
That's good
shit” he coughed. “Another?”

Blake
I was sat alone in a bar. I had
spent all night walking around LA not knowing where I was going. So
much for my best friend showing me around? I was avoiding going
back to Riley’; him locked away in his room dealing with Georgina's
problems made me feel sick. Why couldn't he see it the way I saw
it?
She should go home and talk to
her husband. It was blatantly obvious Riley was enjoying this. He
had a thing for her, but heart break always followed Georgina
around. She couldn't help it.
I felt someone take the stool
next to me. He threw a twenty on the bar and demanded the barmaid
get him a whiskey straight. He ran a hand through his hair and gave
an agonizing sigh.
I froze, I knew that voice and
I was pretty shocked that we could end up in the same place at the
same time. What were the chances of that?
He looked over realizing I was
staring and he rolled his eyes. “Great. This day is just getting
better.” he huffed. “What the fuck are you doing here,
Waterman?”
Nothing about him had changed.
I smiled. I no longer had any bad feelings for him. In fact now I
actually felt sorry for him. After all, we now had a lot in common
ironically.
“
Nice to see
you too, Mr Thomas” I smiled.
The barmaid placed his drink
down in front of him, he picked it up and downed it in one go.
“Another” he ordered as he slammed the empty glass down. “This time
grab me a bottle and another glass.” His blue eyes turned back
round in my direction. “You’re going to join me, Waterman. That's
an order and not a request.”
“
If that's
what you want” I smiled as the barmaid returned with his order. I
watched as he poured the drinks, this was really starting to feel
surreal. Me and him were drinking at a bar together, who would have
thought it?
“
What have you
been up to since trying to kidnap my wife and unborn
child?”
I should have guessed it was
going to be brought up sooner or later. I took my drink and decided
not to fall into his trap. “I am actually in the middle of a
divorce” I replied.
“
Divorce?” he
laughed. “Must be something in the water. Where are you
staying?”
I looked down at my glass and
shifted in my seat. “Riley's” I muttered.
He took a sip of his drink and
swallowed before replying. “What is his place – The local open
house?” He laughed at his own joke which amused me. He turned
serious within a flash. His eyes narrowed. “Is she still there?” I
just nodded and returned to my drink. “Take it you know, then?” He
snarled. “That fucking prick... I gave him a chance and he fucks me
over.” He looked over and gave a crooked smile. “Maybe I should
teach him a lesson...”
I took another sip of the
whiskey. I hadn't drunk this in years. Then I cringed when I
realized why I didn't drink it. I pushed the glass away and turned
to look at him. “Riley is just a little dazed at the moment” I said
in his defence. “We both know Georgina has a way of capturing
people. It's all part of her charm.”
I watched his eyes light up and
a flicker of love crossed his face. “That's true” he sighed. “She
cast some spell on me...” His face turned cold again. “Are they
together?”
I shrugged. Truthfully I didn't
have a clue what was going on. I glanced back at Maxwell and it was
clear he was heartbroken. I actually felt sorry for him; I had been
there and I could relate to how he was feeling. It was time to get
into Maxwell Thomas's good books and make a mends for the grief I
had given him years ago.
“
No,” I
finally answered and he let out a deep breath. “Why don't you just
go and talk to her?”
“
What
there?”
“
Why
not?”
He sat back in his chair and
his mouth twitched. “What do you want, Waterman?” Suspension filled
his voice.
I rolled my eyes. “Nothing!
Look, she’s your wife and you need her. After everything you both
have been through. Are you really going to let her walk away?”
He tilted his head to the side,
looking at me from the corner of his eyes and a slight frown. “Why
are you being nice?”
“
I haven’t got
a problem with you, Maxwell. You and Georgina are both clearly not
enjoying this. Come on, I'll take you there and you can get your
wife back.”
“
No!” He
snapped. “Tonight I want to get drunk! Drink” he demanded and for
some strange reason I did as I was told. “Just to let you know,
this doesn't make us best mates or anything.
I gave a little laugh. “I never
even expected it.”

Georgina
Me and Riley were still laying
on his bed giggling like two little school children. I had lost
count of the number of shots I had downed – like I even cared. I
was enjoying myself and Riley was making me laugh with his endless
impressions of Blake.
I'd even stopped mourning after
Maxwell and thinking about him and his whore in New York.
“
So,” Riley
asked leaning in on his elbows. “I should really start thinking
about bed. I have filming tomorrow and I haven't even looked over
my lines.”
“
I'm sorry” I
sighed, I felt really guilty now. I was intruding on his life with
all my problems.
“
No” he
reached out and his hand touched my face. “I like having you here.”
His grey eyes were luring me in and I was being captivated by his
handsome face.
He was one of those pretty boys
with that dark edge about him. I could feel myself biting down on
my lip. This was all unexpected and was taking me a little off
guard.
“
I’ve always
liked spending time with you.” He leaned a little closer to me and
his tone was low.
My eyes focused on his mouth. I
knew I should have backed away, but his lips embraced mine and I
fell into his kiss. His tongue slowly playing with mine. I grabbed
the back of his head and pushed my tongue further in his mouth. I
never wanted his lips to leave mine. The tingles began to fill my
body as his fingers ran through my hair. I felt comforted and
wanted. This made it feel even better.
He pulled away and wrapped his
arms around me. “We can't have sex” he winked and I nodded in
response. My lips still tingled from his kiss. He kissed my
forehead. “Sleep now” he laughed, he turned over and switched the
lamp off. I stared into the darkness and felt my heart beating
fast. What was going on??
CHAPTER
NINE
Maxwell
Another boring board meeting,
why did my life feel like a constant meeting? I looked over at my
wife sitting opposite me and a pang of sadness hit me. It had been
days since we had actually spoken and I was missing her like mad. I
kept thinking about what that shit head had said to me in the bar.
Maybe if I'd taken his advice, then maybe she would be back where
she belonged.
She was avoiding all eye
contact with me and was just staring into space. Her mind
preoccupied with other thoughts that didn't include me,
obviously.
I knew I had over reacted and
guilt was a constant reminder of what I had done to her days ago. I
kept thinking about moving out and allowing her to take the house.
At least that way she wouldn't be living with that prick Riley.
My mind turned back to the
meeting. They were all discussing the charity event that had
originally been Georgina's idea, but she hadn't muttered one word
in the last hour.
“
Right,” I
bellowed. “Let’s call it a day for now.” I put my pen down and
rubbed my brow. All our team began to clean their things away
including Georgina. “Mrs Thomas, could you stay behind a second.”
Her eyes finally looked at me and I could feel the pure hatred
penetrating in my direction.
She made no attempt to reply
and just sat back in her chair with her arms folded. Everyone else
practically raced to get out of the room. Was our marriage problems
now public knowledge? I waited till the last person was gone and
the door closed shut.
I got out of my chair and made
my way over to her, that magnetic charge between us instantly
reappeared and slowly she looked up at me with her blue eyes.
I was hypnotised by her beauty
and my blood was being flow south. I knelt down next to her and
placed my head in her lap. I really needed her back. I was nothing
without my wife and I loved her too much not to have her near
me.
Her fingers began to play in my
hair and I closed my eyes with enjoyment. I melted in her touch.
This was the woman I was willing give everything up for and I was
treating her badly. Seriously, how could I deny her access to our
son?
“
I'm sorry,” I
cried, slowly looking up at her beautiful face.
“
You called me
a slag.” I watched her eyes fill with tears and she shifted in her
seat. “You really thought that of me during my
interview?”
I let out a deep breath and ran
my hands through my hair. “Fuck no. I was just angry about you
walking out on me and staying with Riley.” I ran a finger along her
cheek. “You’re my beautiful, wonderful, sexy, honest and caring
wife. I was a prick.” I swallowed hard. “I should have told you
about New York.”
