Hans watched them leave through narrowed
slits, the boys took the furthest route round the bar possible to avoid getting within reach of him. Hans didn’t like them, at one point each of them had either hit on one of his sister Noa or his mate Melanie.
Hans didn’t forget things like that... plus he was kind of nuts!
Kayleigh
wobbled a little and Don automatically put his hands on her waist. She slithered in his arms so she was facing him and put her arms round his shoulders, leaning her head on him.
“
Mmmmmm this is nice.” She hiccupped.
Don could have sworn he heard laughter behind him, but edging round to look both Hans and Andy had stony expressions.
Hans’ phone started chirruping. He looked at it and smirked. “Melanie wants to know where the hell I am and when the hell I’m coming home, except she didn’t say it quite that nicely.”
Andy chuckled. “Yeah I got a few of those from my mate too.”
Don awkwardly shoved Kayleigh into her coat and slung her purse round her neck. He swung her round, lifting her up. She giggled,
in between hiccups
.
Wriggling
happily in his arms she said, “ooooohhhh, it’s just like that Richard Gere film!” With that Kayleigh started singing a very loud and tuneless version of ‘Up Where We Belong.”
Having sensitive hearin
g the three shifters cringed. Don’s wolf however was in heaven. He was howling along with her, much to Don’s annoyance.
“I better get her home.” He muttered striding through the bar.
“Yeah good luck with that.” Snickered Hans.
“Rather you than me brother.”
Laughed Andy.
They both quickly subdued when Don roared at them, but after he stepped out into the cold night air he could hear them bellowing with laughter.
Snow was already starting to settle, soon everything would be covered by a white blanket. He hoped to be safely tucked away in his tiny cabin by then.
He stowed
Kayleigh into the front seat of his truck and swiftly jumped into the driver’s side rubbing his hands together. Kayleigh had quieted and was leaning her head against the seat, eyes closed and a serene expression on her face.
Her cheeks were
pink, a stray golden strand of hair wandered over her face. Without thinking he reached over and brushed it away, his fingers tracing her skin. She moaned and brought her hand up to cover his.
She opened her eyes and stared at him adoringly. His wolf
whimpered at how lovely she was. To have her look at him this way it was indescribable, it made him feel so powerful and yet so needy at the same time.
“Let’s get you home.” He said grudgingly after a few moments.
“No!” She cried. “I can’t go home.”
“You have to go
home, your fiancée will be worried.” He almost spat that last part.
She snorted. “Yeah right she seemed real worried when I caught him
boinking his ex-girlfriend earlier.”
He dropped his hand from her cheek.
She knew
. His beast was elated. She knew and he didn’t have to tell her and be the guy bringing her bad news.
Win-win. Except for the part where she was upset about her fiancée cheating and all that...
He hesitated. “I’m sorry.” He was sorry, sorry that she had been hurt. “You sure you don’t want to go home and try to work things out with him?”
He ignored the irritated bellows of his animal.
What was he doing trying to get her to go to another man?
“
Nuh uh, no way. It’s over. Those two cheating lying asses deserve each other. Can we get out of here? I’m freezing.”
She shivered exaggeratedly. He mentally kicked himself. Shifters ran pretty hot and he was
already cold, he could only imagine how she must be feeling.
He agonised over what to do. “You sure you don’t want to go home?
Kayleigh?”
He watched as her eyes fluttered shut and immediately she fell asleep.
Shit.
He couldn’t take her home now anyway. What was he supposed to do? Carry her up to the front door and drop her into that bastard’s arms?
No, she’d probably never forgive him for that
.
Where else could he take her? He knew she was friends with Melanie and
Carly. But how would Kayleigh feel knowing that he was dumped her onto the first person who would take her.
No, there was only one thing for it. The wolf was delighted with the idea.
The man... not so much
.

December
Kayleigh
groaned and rolled over onto her back.
Holy hell her head was hurting!
She pulled the covers around her tightly and snuggled into the pillow.
Mmmmm her bed smelled good this morning, spicy and masculine.
What was she doing last night?
Oh right yeah
. It came back in a flood. Caught fiancée cheating.
Check
. Went to Bar Luna and drank just about her body weight in whiskey.
Check
. Left the bar being carried by Don...
oh check mate
.
She remembered flirting
, or ranting she wasn’t sure which, with some young wolves. Then Don appeared and the next thing she knew she was in his truck. Everything went black after that.
Mmmmm
her bed felt softer than usual, and bigger too
. She stretched out her arms and legs waggling them around like she was making snow angels. Wait a second! This wasn’t her bed!
She sat bolt upright, her hangover screaming bloody murder.
Crap, where were her glasses?
She scooched over the bed, hands first feeling her way. Her hands left the edge of the bed and she was about to fall flat on her face when two arms grasped hers and placed her back on the bed. She quivered in awareness.
“Looking for these?” Smoothly he pushed her glasses on to her face. Her eyes adjusted to find Don kneeling before her. His bright blue eyes watched her closely.
Her face burned in embarrassment remembering last night. “Ummm thanks.”
She tried smiling at him but he remained impassive, and it hurt her head so much she stopped.
Oh god she had made a total fool of herself in front of him last night.
Maybe he was angry at having to deal with her when she was drunk.
She couldn’t bear the cold aloof look on his face and let her eyes drift round the room.
It was a quaint cabin, with a big log burning fire, a patched up recliner, a small kitchenette with a battered looking table and two chairs, a few bookcases, a small closet and the massive, divine bed she now found herself in. It kind of reminded her of a holiday home version of her first apartment. Although thankfully she spied a separate bathroom,
her old apartment unfortunately didn’t have that luxury
.
Don was still staring at her intently.
He’d spent the night watching her sleeping, entranced by her sweet little moans and twitches as she dreamed. He’d been agitated and aroused at her closeness, having her sleeping in his bed and his shirt was almost too much for him.
He’d spent the night thinking of different scenario
s for when she woke up, different things to say. He wanted to sound smart, smooth, sophisticated. But now that it had happened he was unsure of himself. His beast yipped at him encouragingly.
“How are you feeling?”
He asked lamely. Well, he was no James Bond but it was better than rubbernecking.
She exhaled deeply.
“Like I inhaled a distillery. Ummm, where am I?”
He tensed slightly. “When I was
givin’ you a ride last night you errr, you were pretty adamant you didn’t wanna go home.” He paused watching for her reaction.
She rubbed her forehead. “Right yeah, I caught my fiancée
en flagrante
with another woman. That’s a euphemism for they were having sex.”
He arched an eyebrow. “Yeah I managed to crack that code.”
She sniggered and then stopped, the vibrations hurt her head. “Right of course, you’re a fan of Columbo.”
He smiled crookedly at
her, he’d told her that the first time they met.
One of the best days of his life...
“You remembered.”
She looked down
uncharacteristically shyly. “Of course I did.” The memory was etched into her mind.
He coughed. “Anyway, you fell asleep before I could ask you where you wanted to go so... I brought you to my place. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have.”
He should have taken her to one of her friends, if he had been thinking clearly he would have. But the thought of spending a little time with her had been too tempting.
“
No!” She cried far too quickly and loudly, she grimaced and ground her teeth. “Thank you bringing me here, I really didn’t want to face Greg last night. I’m just sorry to put you out like this.”
He waved his hand. “It’s nothing, really.
” The way he was feeling right now, he’d give her all his worldly goods and still consider it be a mere trifle compared to what she deserved.
Damn he had it bad
. But then it had been a good four weeks since he last had sex. He was pretty darn horny.
She chewed her cheek, feeling at once awkward. “Is this your shirt I’m wearing?”
He stood up hands on hips towering over her and she shivered involuntarily.
Man he was fine. Tall, dark and dreamy!
“It is my shirt, but I didn’t undress you
. You err... you kind of woke up when we got here and undressed yourself.”
He moved over to the kitchenette ostensibly to get her a cup of
coffee, honestly he just didn’t want her to see him blush. Truthfully when they arrived at his cabin, she had woken and still drunk had asked him point blank if he thought she was sexy.
He was stunned, too stunned to answer and had opened and shut his mouth like a goldfish.
Not waiting for an answer she told him it didn’t matter because she would show him how sexy she was. Kayleigh had then started an impromptu striptease providing her own jarring music.
Man and wolf had practically panted at the sight.
If she hadn’t of fallen over trying to remove her stockings,
she wore a pair of particularly droolsome stockings
, he would have blissfully stood and watched her until she removed every last item of clothing.
As it was he had to make sure she hadn’t hurt herself.
She hit the floor at a terrific speed
. When he picked her up she was guffawing like a loon, the alcohol dulling her senses.
She was going to hurt tomorrow.
The animal in him was all for her resuming her sexy dance, however the gentleman in him realised he had to stop.
Damn fucking gentleman!
He had given her one of his shirts to sleep in and had told her to change while he turned around.
A
t least he had told himself he wasn’t going to look. He faced away like the gentleman he was, and after a few shuffling sounds he heard a muted thump. He called out her name and was answered by her soft snores.
Spinning
round his heart practically stopped beating. Kayleigh was laid across his bed spread eagle wearing nothing but a pair of black lace panties. His eyes devoured every inch of her lush body, from her red painted toe nails to her graceful neck. Her peachy skin glistened and her golden hair was splayed around her head like a halo. His eyes traversed her generous curves, settling on her full breasts and rosy pink nipples.
His beast had howled in delight as his already hardened erection became downright unbearable. Growling he had pushed his manhood down with the palm of his hand, trying to make
himself more comfortable.
Unenthusiastically he had
wrestled her into the shirt, his fingers tingling as they ghosted over her silky skin. The wolf objected vociferously to covering her up but he didn’t imagine she would be thrilled to wake up naked in his bed.
He would be though...
He shook his head chasing away the memory. That was something he’d enjoy later, on his own,
probably in the shower...
“You want some coffee?” He called to her.
“Mmmm please.”
He poured a cup and turned back to her. She was stood next to the bed stretching her arms up over her head and yawning. The shirt rose up, giving him a peek of her panties.
He stood stock still as his arousal rose spectacularly. She didn’t seem to notice and shuffled over to him taking the cup.
He watched her avidly as she sipped and moaned in pleasure at the taste. He groaned as he hardened,
if he lost anymore blood from his head he’d lose the ability to even speak
.
She smiled.
It was nice being in Don’s home,
even nicer waking up in his bed
. She could imagine long lazy days reading by the fire, and then longer nights spent in each other’s arms in that delectable, big, soft bed...
She couldn’t stay there. She’d already trespassed on
his time and hospitality enough, and he didn’t seem overly thrilled to have her there. She should really get going.
She downed the rest of her cup. “Thanks for everything you’ve done. I guess I better get home, I can’t hide here forever.”
As much as she might want to...
“I better go talk to Greg.”
A pained look spread across Don’s chiselled face.
Her heart leapt, he didn’t want her to go, he wanted her to stay!
“What’s wrong?” She asked
demurely.
“
Leavin’ might be a problem... look out the window.”
Her brow creased but she moved over to the window wordlessly and pulled back the drapes. The outside world was white, covered by a mountain of snow and more was flurrying to the ground with wild abandon. She was snowed in.
She was snowed in alone with Don!
“Holy crap on a cracker!”
