Katie looks up at Will to see him deep in thought. ‘What you thinking about?’ She asks. Will snaps from his inner thoughts to answer her.
‘Oh sorry. It’s nothing important.’ He answers without looking at her, just in case she could tell from his eyes that he was lying to her. They walk in silence for a few minutes. Katie blissfully unaware of Will’s feelings.
‘I live just around this corner. I must warn you though I think my mum might be in.’ Katie looks down.
‘You seem ashamed.’ Concerns Will.
She looks back at him. ‘She hasn’t been in a good place since my father died.’
Will is shocked by this revelation. ‘I’m so sorry to hear that.’ They both stop walking.
‘It’s ok, it’s in the past. Happened about sixteen years ago.’
‘Do you mind if I ask how he passed?’ Will’s voice is a little shaky as he asks.
‘Oh he went missing. The police did everything they could to try and find him. But all they found was a pool of his blood about half a mile out of the city. So he was presumed dead.’ A tear rolls down Katie’s face. Will embraces her, she wraps her arms around him but continues to talk. ‘And since then, my mum hasn’t been able to cope. With the pressure of losing her husband and then having to raise me by herself she broke down and found solace at the bottom of a bottle.’
‘That’s shit.’ Will says without thinking.
‘You don’t say.’ Katie pulls away from Will and wipes away her tears.
‘I’m sorry. I couldn’t think of what to say.’ Will apologises.
‘No it’s ok. It is shit. Even more so recently, seems the alcohol does nothing for her on its own. So now she relies both on that and drugs.’
‘What drugs does she take?’ Will immediately realises that asking these questions was a stupid idea, but he can’t bring himself to stop as he wants to know every detail about Katie’s life.
‘I believe it’s mainly heroin, but I think she’ll do anything she can get her hands on.’ Just as Katie finishes her sentence she begins to walk toward her house, holding her arm behind her indicating with her hand for Will to hold it. He does so.
As they stand in front of Katie’s front door she reaches into her bag to find her door key. Suddenly a smash of glass can be heard from inside of the house. ‘Mum?!’ Katie panics and with speed finds her keys and unlocks the door. Katie pushes through and heads down the corridor toward the kitchen. Will closes the door behind himself then heads to the kitchen. The smell of damp and tobacco fill the air. He can’t help but notices damp and mould growing down the walls, and the carpet below his feet that look as if they haven’t been hovered in years. He sees Katie holding her mother who is slumped over the sink throwing up with a broken bottle in her hand. ‘That’s it mum, just get it all up.’ Katie says calmly as she rubs her mother’s back. ‘Will, could you do me a favour and clean up all the glass, my mum isn’t wearing any shoes.’ Katie asks.
‘
Erm, yeah sure. Where’s a dustpan and brush?’ He asks.
‘Should be in the cupboard beside me.’ Katie answers.
As Will proceeds to look in the cupboard he feels as though his usefulness is being underplayed in this situation. He pulls out the dustpan and brush and sets it on the worktop next to the sink. ‘Look, you do that and I’ll look at your mum.’
Katie looks at Will confused as to why he would say something like that. ‘I’m perfectly capable of looking after her, I do this every day.’
‘Katie, I went to medical school, I may have more knowledge about this than you do.’ Will states quite sternly.
Katie stares at him for a moment and then agrees. She lets go of her mother to allow Will access to her. Will grabs hold of her and pulls her hair from her face so he could take a look at her. He’s shocked to see how skinny, wrinkled and pale she is. The most worrying thing to him is the cold dead look in her eyes. ‘Excuse me Miss, my name’s Will, I’m here to help you. Do you mind telling me your name?’ He gets no answer as she continues to stare blankly into the sink full of her sick.
‘Her name’s Beth.’ Katie answers for her. ‘Will just leave her, she’ll snap out of this in a minute. She’s like this every day. Sometimes I swear she does it for attention.’
Beth slowly raises her head and turns to face Katie. Will lets her go and steps back slightly
toward Katie. ‘Attention?’ A voice appears from within her smoke damaged throat. ‘You know I need this to go on Katie.’ Her blank expression quickly chances to an angry one.
‘Shut up mum. I’m sick and tired of this. He’s been dead for eleven years, get over it. I had to. You were supposed to be there to look after me. Not the other way round.’ Katie shouts in anger.
A moment of silence occurs.
‘Fuck you! You ungrateful little bitch!’ Beth screams as she throws the broken glass bottle at Katie. In a split second Will manages to push Katie away, but not enough as the broken end of the bottle cuts into her arm as it continues its journey toward the conservatory, finally smashing the glass door leading into it. Katie quickly grabs her arm to suppress the bleeding. Will rushes to her and holds her as she bursts into tears. He stares over at Beth who once again has a blank expression on her face looking back at them. ‘I think I shall leave you two alone now.’ Her head droops as she turns towards the door and leaves the kitchen turning left through another door into the living room. The living room door slams behind her.
Will keeps hold of Katie for a moment with just the sounds of her cries filling his thoughts which stop him from processing what had just happened. ‘Let me look at your arm.’ He demands wanting to calm this situation. Katie lets go of her arm revealing a cut with blood slowly dripping out from it. Will takes a close look, ‘I don’t think you need stitching. Just want to clean the wound and then dress it to stop infection.’ Will begins to search through the draws in the kitchen to find something to dress Katie’s cut with. Katie watches him as he does so. Her crying has stopped and is now replaced by a smile because of the way Will is looking after her, keeping to the promise he made earlier.
After cleaning and dressing her cut, Katie led Will into her bedroom. Will enters first. The difference from her room to the rest of the house shocks him. Not a spot of damp, mould or dust to be seen. Everything had its place and was in it. ‘I see you look after your room then.’ Will states.
‘Yeah. I tend not to leave here. It’s my sanctuary away from my mum.’ Katie says putting her bag away in her closet.
Will continues to look around her room. He spots a picture frame on her bedside table. He walks over and picks it up. The picture is of a young girl and a man. ‘Is this you and your father?’ Will asks.
‘Yes it’s the only picture I have left of him, all the others have vanished somewhere. I blame my mum for that, she must’ve hid them somewhere, or destroyed them in a drunken haze.’ Katie sits on her bed and grabs Will’s hand. He takes the hint and puts the picture down before sitting beside her. Without wasting a second Katie grabs Will’s face and pulls him in for a kiss. As their lips touch her body heats up. There’s passion between them in this kiss and they both know it.
As the passion in their kiss grows, Katie lifts off Will’s shirt which momentarily breaks the kiss, but without a second passing their lips meet again. Katie’s excitement grows as she pulls Will on top of her feeling all over his body. Will moves from her lips and begins to softly kiss her neck. As he does so he unbuttons her checked shirt one by one, revealing her bra covered breasts. Katie pulls Will’s head back up to kiss him on the lips again. Katie’s hands slide down Will’s stomach until she reaches his belt. She releases the buckle before undoing the button and zip of his jeans. Without hesitation the moment the fly was undone Katie thrusts both her hands into the front of Will’s boxers grabbing hold of Will’s member with both hands. Katie gasps at the feel of the size of it which breaks their kiss. Will looks at her breathing heavy as she plays with him.
‘I want you so bad.’ Will says over his heavy breathing.
Hearing those words from Will’s mouth mixed with rubbing his member makes her wetter below than she had ever been before. A huge grin fills her face as she lets go of Will and quickly undoes her jeans. Will stops her by grabbing her wrists. He pulls her arms away and places them above her head as he kisses her neck once again. Slowly he begins to move down her chest, kissing her breasts softly as he caresses them. Further downward he continues lightly kissing down her stomach. Katie lets out soft moans of pleasure as she begins to rive and play with Will’s hair. As he reaches her waist he grabs hold of the waistband of her jeans and her underwear and slowly begins to pull them down. The smell from her excitement fills Will with a sense of pleasure and quickly pulls her jeans and underwear off. Not wanting to waste any more time Will takes his own jeans and boxers off as Katie removes her bra. Katie’s body shivers with pleasure at the sight of Will’s naked body and spots his member tense and become harder at the sight of hers. Overwhelmed with the sexiness of the situation Katie pulls Will back on top of her as she wraps her legs around his naked body. Will’s hard member teases Katie as it rubs against her clitoris. She cannot take it anymore. Will also cannot take it anymore, he wants to be inside her more than anything. He does so. He guides his hard penis into her warm wet vagina. Katie lets out moans of pure pleasure as Will slides it in inch by inch. Once Will made sure every inch was deep inside her he began a slow tender thrust motion as he kissed her passionately on the lips.
CHAPTER 17:
THE END OF TRUST
A
fter a long hard day of physical training from Tessa, Jeff arrives at his front door. Feeling completely exhausted, and every muscle in his body aching he struggles to remove his keys from his trouser pocket.
Wait.
Jeff stops himself from pushing the key into the lock.
What was I doing today?
Jeff knew that Jade would question why he looks so drained of energy. Suddenly he collapses to his knees, holding his body up with his arms. He begins to strain in agony as an immense feeling of pain fills every cell in his body.
What is happening to me?
Jeff slams his fists into the ground. The concrete slabs beneath his hands crack from the force of his fists.
What the?
Jeff thinks as he spots the cracks. He quickly pushes himself back up from the ground still in pain. Looking up at his front door he catches his reflection in the window of his living room next to the door. His eyes were pure darkness.
Why have I changed?
A sharp pain shoots through his head. He grabs either side of his head pushing in tight to stop the thumping from within. The more he thinks, more of the pain he feels it seems. Jeff then realises what is happening to him. With all this extra training he has undertaken with Tessa, he has been in vampire form for the majority of the time.
Fuck Jacqueline was right. The more time I’ve spent in vampire form, the more it’s took over.
With this he realises he also hasn’t had any blood to feed himself. His vampire form has taken over completely; he needs to feed to snap out of it.
Maybe Jade isn’t in.
The chances of this were slim considering the time of day, but Jeff needed to cling to what little hope he had as possible as he slots the key into the lock and turns it.
‘Hello? Jade?’ Jeff shouts as he enters his house and closes the door behind him. He notices that the living room door is half closed. It’s very rare that door ever gets closed due to the fact Lisa plays in the living room whenever she’s awake. Moments pass with silence.
Thank God.
Jeff removes his coat and hangs it on the banister of the stairs in front of him. As he turns he once again catches himself. This time in the mirror hanging at the bottom of the stairs. He stares intently into the darkness within his eyes.
Is this really worth it? What decent enough cause is there to explain my actions?
Jeff lets out a huge sigh whilst he looks away from the mirror. He is deeply sickened by the sight of himself in this form. He toughens up and looks into the mirror again. What he sees shocks him right to his core. Along with himself in the reflection he sees his wife Jade standing in the door way of the living room.
Shit, you can’t be here right now.
Jeff quickly looks down so Jade can’t see his eyes as he turns toward her.
‘Where have you been Jeff?’ Jade asks. Standing in the doorway, her brunette hair flows over her shoulders. Wearing a tight plain pink t-shirt that hugs her curvy body. Jeff notices she’s still wearing her pink polka dot pyjama bottoms. As this is all he can see from his eye line he deducts
she hasn’t left the house all day. ‘Answer me Jeff!’ Her voice suddenly rises in volume. For the amount of years him and Jade have been married, she has never shouted at him like this. ‘At least say something! Please!’ She shouts once again.
‘I’m sorry.’ Jeff mutters quietly under his breath.
‘Where have you been Jeff?’ She continues to shout.
‘At work.’ With the pressure of being in vampire form in front of his wife and Jade being indescribably mad at him, he couldn’t think of a better lie.
Jade jolts back from the obviousness of Jeff’s lie. She feels her heart sink knowing that her husband is lying to her and has been for some time. ‘Don’t lie to me Jeff.’ Her voice more calm and solemn now as all she wants is the truth.
