“Me too.” Toby added.

“Preciate it fella’s.” Barron had to school his facial features not to grimace at the thought of beating the breaks off their asses.

“I know we’re celebrating right?” Davey asked.

“Of course.”

“Almost there.” Thomas said cryptically.

“I can taste it.” Barron added going to take a shower and redress.

“B.A.!” Naomi shouted his name as they passed by after his press conference. He spared her a glance and gave a chilling grin that would have scared the bejesus out of most people. To her deluded mind she mistook it for a seductive one.

“There go your girl playa!” Davey announced.

“I see.” He replied to him but he was looking in the opposite direction from him. Walking off leaving the two friends dumbfounded. “Excuse me fella’s. I got some celebrating to do.”

“Can I join this party?” He whispered into Mya’s ear. Her back was to him so she didn’t know he had crept up behind her until he wrapped his arms around her. She was smiling a blinding smile it was so bright and full of love. Despite what he told Mya about pretending to be so damn in love that it would make the snakes sick with jealousy, he wasn’t acting and he could tell it wasn’t a far cry in acting for her either.

“Hey everyone.” Davey and Toby pasted on fake smiles greeting the family.

“Congratulations on your win.” She leaned into the kiss to her temple with a sigh.

“Thank you baby.” He saw them both frown at the sight before them.

“Hey boys. He did the damn thing out there tonight. Didn’t he?” Sheila said smiling at Barron and Mya with so much happiness she felt she would burst.

“Yes ma’am, he did that.” Toby said.

“Hey guys.” Mya faked an effort in being overly nice to them.

“Hey. You’re looking…” Toby started but stalled.

“Like you might pop any day now.” Davey finished.

“I’m close to that big day.”

“We. We are close to that big day.” Barron bit his lip seductively when Mya looked over her shoulder at him and blushed. He chuckled at her flushed expression.

“That’s enough love birds. Let’s get this celebration on the way.” Thomas added rubbing his hands together.

~~~~~~
They arrived at the restaurant of choice for the celebratory dinner. It was filled with pretty much the well to do people in all kinds of industries. Music, entertainment, models, the works were in the building. By it being reservations only, it posed a more intimate setting than most other places. Thomas reserved the room in the rear because he had no doubts that his brother would be the victorious one. Every so often the family would catch Toby or Davey giving the couple horrified glances. If it wasn’t such a messed up situation they would have laughed at them right away. Barron and Mya would often zone out of the conversations of the table to embrace, looking deeply into one another’s eyes.
“Excuse us, are we interrupting anything?” Everyone heard a male voice ask.
“Damon?!” Mya jumped up going to hug him. He embraced her careful not to squeeze her too tight. “Tracy!” She left Damon to go to Tracy.
“What’s up bruh? Wonderful fight.” Damon said to Barron as they embraced in a man hug.
“Thanks man. How does it feel to be on the outside of the ring watching instead of putting them hands to use?” “Hey Tracy.” They did the man hug thing as well.
“It feels weird I was telling Tracy the same thing throughout the fight.”
“Yes he was but you did your thing out there boy. Straight whooped ole boy’s tail.”
“What are you two doing here? And why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” Mya asked pouting.
“We missed you too shorty.” Tracy teased.
“Because it was a surprise.” Barron said.
“Well that I am. Come on guys join us.” Mya said. “Everyone this is my best friend Damon and his fiancé Tracy.”
“Fiancé?” Toby asked incredulously.
“Yes fiancé, is there a problem?” Damon asked with a warning glare. His only response was a shake of the head.
“Well congratulations!” Everyone recited.
“Congratulations go all around I see.”
“Mom, Dad! I didn’t know you guys were going to be here.”
“Surprise number two.” Barron said.
“Barron! What is up with all these surprises? You are the one who won something not me.”
“Says who?” Tracy said lowly but Mya heard him.
“What are talking about?”
“Nothing.” Damon nudged Tracy who apologized with a shrug. Everyone was all smiles accept for Davey and Toby who were just confused by the whole ordeal.
“Come on and sit down, let’s keep the celebrations going. Looks like we have a lot to celebrate.” Sheila said practically jumping up and down in her seat.
“Now that everyone is here, I’d like to have everyone’s attention.” Barron said standing up from his seat. “I’m glad everyone that is important to me could be here for this joyous occasion.”
“As you all know, Mya and I are so close to bringing a little person into the world that will link us all together from this day forward.” Everyone nodded. “I keep reflecting over everything that has happened since I first laid eyes on this beautiful little tender right here. Some bad and some good but I want to make things better.” Barron said all while looking at Mya with a certain something in his eyes. Everyone awed. Pulling Mya to a standing position, Thomas moved the chairs back to give them some room.
“Barron, what are you doing?” Mya asked really confused just the way he pictured.
“Mya not even winning tonight’s fight could make me happier than if you agree to become my wife.” Mya gasped but remained silent. “Marry me?” The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
“Barron…” Mya started but stopped. Maybe this was a part of the act that he didn’t tell her about. She said she would do anything to sock it to these birds. “Yes of course I will.” Even though he didn’t say anything about love. This was probably going to hurt like hell to go back to normal after they sock it to their enemies but she said she would do anything to help him. Obviously that includes living the dream if only for a little while.
“Yes?” Barron questioned to be sure.
“YES!” She reiterated. He slid the beautiful diamond ring onto her finger and then wiped the tear from her face. Mya hadn’t even realized she was crying until he did that. The look on his face donned with complete seriousness, she was almost convinced that he meant every word. That this was actually happening. Then he kissed her affectionately and dotingly, engrossing her entire being into the act. When they parted Mya had a hard time remembering what day it was let alone what else was supposed to happen.
“Congratulations!” The whole family was giving out hugs, the mothers were crying with tears of joy. The fathers were commended him on a job well done.
“Yo, what’s up with this shit?” Davey whispered to Toby.
“Man this is some bullshit.” Toby said to no one in particular. The older people were too busy in their own conversation to have heard the outburst.
“Don’t act brand new play boy. I read your card already.” Tracy said successfully gaining everyone’s attention.
“What the fuck you trying to say?” Toby shot back.
“You know exactly what I’m referring to. Quit being a
QUEEN
and congratulate your
friend
.”
“A what?” The older women asked.
“You trying to call me gay.”
“I ain’t trying to call you nothing. If it walks like a duck…”
“Then QUACK, duck!” Damon added.
“I’m wondering why
you have such a problem with your boy finding happiness.” Ebony said. “Oh wait, tell me you not crushing on baby boy?”
“You know he likes women right?” Jamie added.
“What the hell are they talking about dude?” Davey asked Toby. “Are you…” He made a disgusted face.
“Of course not, you know me better than that.” Toby said but he wasn’t fooling anyone including the fool next to him.
“Aww poor baby still living in denial I see.” Ebony cooed.
“Y’all finna take the word of some faggot y’all just met over mine. I’ve been around for forever.”
“Exactly he’s technically a stranger, what would he have to gain from lying or falsely accusing you of being something you’re not?” Thomas asked.
“I don’t have to take this shit. Obviously this bitch got you so gone you not even gonna take up for your boy, that’s messed up
B.A. I’m out!” Toby expressed overdramatically like the true feminine punk he was before standing. He was so outraged that he didn’t see a fist zoning in on his face until it was too late.
“Call my sister another bitch and it’s gon’ get a whole lot worse.”
“Well damn, he said he was out but now he is literally OUT!” Tracy joked causing everyone’s shocked expression to warp into pain from trying to contain their laughter. “Good hit fam.” He turned his attention to the one hitter quitter champion of the room.
“So Mr. Anderson, I’m assuming everyone in your family has some one-hitter quitter tendencies because of you.” Damon added jokingly.
“You could say that and please call me Barry.” He chuckled.
“Damn bro, maybe we need to change spots.” Barron said.
“Big Jim, Leo, get this piece of shit out of here.” Thomas called to the security guards that was trying to contain their own chuckle to remain professional.
“And all that from crunching numbers? I’m not buying it.” Mya commented giggling herself.
“Y’all thought I was playing when I told y’all my husband has a short fuse. Don’t let the smooth taste fool you. He is a quick whip.” Jamie said rubbing her husband’s back trying to relax his stiff body.
“I apologize everyone for my outburst.” Shane said. “Calling Mya out of her name just sent me over the edge.”
“No apology necessary cause I warned him about calling her out of her name before. Actually I should thank you because it would have been bad for me to do the same.” Barron said honestly.
“Shit if you wouldn’t have, I would have.” Thomas said.
“Me too.” Every other man in the room said except for Davey who they noticed must have slipped out during the commotion.
This was not going according to plan at all. First B.A. pulls this bullshit proposing to that broad, then Toby gets ousted about being gay. What the hell was going on? Davey was wigging out about the new chain of events. When Shane punched Toby out cold, he saw
more to come so he slipped out when everyone was stunned. There was no way in hell he was going to be brought up on his wrong doing before he was prepared. Everyone in that room seemed super protective over that cow on his side. He had to do something to stop this from continuing any further. Davey thought about just sucking it up and pretend to be happy for him but something just wasn’t letting that idea fester too long.
If he did pretend to be happy for him then at least he would still be in loop and could benefit to a certain extent. They still had road trips that she wouldn’t be available to travel on with her being so far along in the pregnancy. Maybe it’s all a phase and the excitement of the new toy syndrome will wear off. What man in there right man with all this extra attention out here
, remain faithful for too long? Better yet he still had one ace left since obviously she hadn’t told him about his advancements on her. B.A. must didn’t put too much stock in what Taj had to say or she didn’t go through with it. He was sure if B.A. knew what was going on he would have confronted him by now.
“What’s going on? Where is B.A.?” Naomi ran up to Davey firing question after question at him.
“Man you ain’t gonna believe this shit.” Davey shook his head. “They ousted Toby about being gay and wanting B.A.”
“I called him on being gay when we were in Miami. Who cares?”
“He is going to care when he wakes up with the head banger headache he is going to have. Shane knocked him on his ass for calling ole girl a bitch.”
“Are you serious?”
“No joke. Everyone in there is extremely overprotective of her.”
“What happened to make him have an outburst like that anyway?”
“B.A. proposed to the bitch and Toby…”
“HE WHAT?!”
“My bad… they are engaged.”
“Oh hell no! You’re kidding me right?”
“Sorry I wish I was.”
“This can’t be happening to me right now.”
“To you? What about me?”
“What about you?”
“How do you think this affects me?”
“You are so selfish.”
“You are one to talk.”
“Maybe we should hire someone…” Naomi stared off into space.
“Hire someone like?”
“You know to take care of her.”
“You must be kidding. What the hell did I just tell you? They are guarding her like a hawk. Plus she is carrying his baby, how do think he will feel?”
