fter the battle, all that remained were their memories.
They remembered the world as it was: a new world, a raw world, their world. Where they had been the masters of all creatures. Where the humankind were mere cattle: to be herded, slaughtered, and eaten.
They remembered the taste of the humankind…and it was sweet. So sweet.
But their memories were tainted with bitterness: memories of a boy who was not a boy, who had cast them out. Cast them down. Imprisoned them in the Otherworld.
So the demons formulated a plan. It was centuries in preparation, and another century had passed while they waited for the most suitable candidate to carry it out. They were patient, for they did not measure time in human spans and the prize was great indeed. The plan was simple: to bring the Hallows together, to unlock the gate between the worlds.
All they needed was the right agent: a human with a desire for absolute knowledge and prepared to do anything to achieve that end.
And they waited.
