I
would have given
up and gone home, if it weren’t for DC Knight. She was a crow on my shoulder, constantly pecking for information. Leaving in the midst of the investigation would have looked very suspicious, so I stuck it out, enjoying watching my so-called sister fall apart. Not that it was easy to keep up the pretence. It took every ounce of my self-control to act natural, and sometimes it felt as if she saw right through me. When the medium came, it was my voice she picked up, pleading with my father to stop his cruel acts. A ghost of a memory that never left me, it made my skin crawl to hear the words out loud. Slowly my love for the house, the land, Nick, it all turned to hate. Joanna and her family needed to die, and take our secrets with them. Now, as I look back, I can see how close I came to getting what I wanted.
But it was a house made of cards. Nick and Joanna weren’t the perfect couple, and the twins were strange and wild. The house was crumbling, and filled with something so dark there were times I could barely breathe within its walls. I am not sorry the monster is dead. I’m only sorry they caught me. But without solid proof of murder, I’m confident I’ll get off. I’ll serve a few years for perverting the course of justice, if that. My prison bed is mildly more comfortable than the one in my grotty flat, and I know how to handle my inmates. I’ll get regular meals, cockroach-free. Best of all, I’ll have time on my hands. Time to plan the next birthday surprise.
I
can’t quite believe
I’ve finished book three of the DC Knight series already. Each book has stretched the realms of my writing skills, bringing me deep into an imagination I didn’t know I possessed. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought, reviewed, shared, tweeted and supported my books. I truly value my readers, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the various journeys my writing has taken you on. There’s lots more to come, so don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter to ensure you are kept updated for each new release:
I’d like to invite you to join me again with my forthcoming novels featuring DS Ruby Preston. She has been standing in the shadows for some time now, waiting for her story to be told. She doesn’t always play by the rules, but as she says herself, she’s a ‘real copper and gets things done’. Based in London, this new crime series is gritty, fast paced, and features some rather dubious characters. I can’t wait to introduce you to them.
If you have enjoyed my books I’d love to hear from you, and if you could recommend me to a friend, you would make my day. To me, writing is a form of communication, and it doesn’t all have to be one way. My Twitter and Facebook links are below, if you’d like to get in touch.
Until next time,
Caroline

You don’t know him. But he knows you.
Soon he would be able to touch her, to feel the warmth of her blood. And when the time came, nothing would stop him.
As
DC Jennifer Knight
investigates a routine stabbing in the quiet town of Haven, she is shocked at what seems like a personal message from beyond the grave.
When more bodies are found, Jennifer is convinced the killings are somehow linked. What she discovers is more chilling than she could possibly imagine. The murders mirror those of the notorious Grim Reaper – from over twenty years ago. A killer her mother helped convict.
Jennifer can no longer ignore the personal connection. Is there a copycat killer at work? Was the wrong man convicted? Or is there something more sinister at play …
With her mother’s terrifying legacy spiralling out of control, Jennifer must look into her own dark past in a fight not only to stop a killer – but to save herself and those she loves.
A heart-stopping supernatural thriller to engross fans of Rachel Abbott, Paul Finch and James Oswald.

to the end of a book always feels like a massive accomplishment, but I haven’t done it alone. I’d like to thank the fantastic team at Bookouture, in particular publisher extraordinaire Oliver Rhodes and my fairy Godmother Kim Nash, who helped make all my wishes come true in 2015. I also want to give a special shout out to my editor, Keshini Naidoo. I feel very blessed to be working with such an outstanding talent, and a truly lovely lady.
A special mention of gratitude to my author friends, your support has been phenomenal. Thanks to Angie Marsons and her partner Julie Forrest, two truly inspirational (and hilarious) people I feel proud to call my pals. Thanks to Renita D’Silva, Holly Martin, Lindsay J. Pryor, Sue Watson, Mandy Baggot, Christie Barlow, Nigel May, Robert Bryndza, Mel Sherratt (AKA Marcie Steele) and Kelly Rimmer for the giggles, and all the other fab Bookouture authors in our growing team.
To the wonderful bloggers and book clubs who give up their free time to read and promote our books, I owe you a hug for this, and each tweet and Facebook share (we could be some time). A special thanks to Noelle Holten, Lisa Hall, Sean Talbot, Joseph Calleja, Tracy Shephard, Rebecca Pugh, Helen Phifer, and Lisa Cutts for adding sparkle to my year. I could go on, but I’m running out of room! To my police colleagues, and in particular to Nigel Dermott who kindly shared his experiences of leading the police diving team. Your input has been invaluable. To family, friends, and my all important readers, words are not enough to express my gratitude. I hope you continue to enjoy the books I have to offer.
