“Always,” he replied and swiftly entered, until her body swallowed his.

“Oh, my God.” She moaned as he started moving.

The former electric feeling tripled, as if about to overload her circuits. He pumped faster, his eyes never leaving hers. She held on tight to his muscular arms and enjoyed the ride. Sensations rocketed through her as her body convulsed with mini explosions.

The rhythm poured through her, the sensations steaming around her. They were all too new to catalogue, even though she hadn’t been a virgin. The buildup started again. Her eyesight began to blur, and the last thing she noted was his slack jaw before the colors swam in front of her.

“I...I...” She tried to tell him she couldn’t see, but her mouth wouldn’t cooperate. He kept pounding into her, staking his claim, and she gave herself, heart and soul. Nothing would be the same again. White stars super-imposed over the colors, and she let it all go.

His shouted, “Victoria!” came shortly after. They lay together, spent and replete.

“What are we doing?” she asked from the crook of his arm. “I refuse to marry before my birthday. Yet, I find I don’t want to give you up.”

“Let me handle your father. You won’t get married one day before you have to,” Bill said grimly and held her closer. “At least, not because of your father.”

She left that cryptic statement alone for another time. Six weeks remained of their trip. They had time. His hand caressed her shoulder as she drifted off to sleep.

Though part of him wanted to pace as he thought through his plans for the following weeks, he lay still, content to hold her as long as she’d allow. Then he thought of the king and what he’d say if he found out they’d slept together. Fortunately for him, the king also disliked the Earl. He fought the urge to hold her tighter as he imagined her reaction to finding out her father was a traitor. Though he’d known her a short time, he knew her to be a staunch citizen and loyal to the crown. How this would break her. He had to find out more about the whole family. Like her mysterious sister.

The companies he’d hired for more information on the sister would get back to him soon. However, the King’s men would get back regarding the sister and the father with more detailed and up-to-date information. Finding the name of the sister shouldn’t be too hard with the aid of computers.

The attack on Victoria at the train station seemed fortuitous more than planned. The attack on the station, on the other hand, was well thought out, practiced, and all scenarios taken into account. In other words, the act of a professional or professionals, and that chapped his hide. A professional took the risk of getting away by taking a shot at a seemingly random worker of the train station? No, they wouldn’t risk it. Not for a nobody, which meant Victoria was already a target for whomever set this up—a terrorist cell in his opinion—before the take down. Also, a coincidence that her stuff is stolen under such an attack? No way.

Determination filled him as the soft sounds of Victoria sleeping next to him surrounded his senses, her deep breaths, the whisper of skin against lush sheets. The more he found out, the less convinced he became of her safety. He made a promise to himself—whoever turned out to be behind this and whatever it was about, he would get to the bottom of it. He would not let anyone harm her, even if it meant killing the Earl himself.

William James George Louis IV, Duke of Athart, Duke of Suffolk, swore by his honor, that he would solve this mystery and marry the Princess of Scotland. Nothing would stop him, no matter how long it took. He’d stay on the traincoach as long as she did. Then he’d whisk her away to safety. Nothing would stop him.

Biography

Leona Bushman goes by many names but the most common one is superhero. She earned this name from saving a kangaroo from a tree—and yes, that is as hard as it sounds. The dragons taught their queen how to write, and Queen Leona hasn’t looked back, even when her muse tries to muck things up.

She can be found goofing off and loving dragons and other creatures of the supernatural at these places:
