Hovering over her lips, I
gently push the smoke into her lungs, holding her eyes as she deeply inhales. I watch her eyes flutter slightly as she lets the sensation wash over her before pulling away slightly to flip the blunt around to take a hit.

Brushing my thumb over her forehead, I gently pu
sh her hair away from her face. I’m so focused on the way it falls against her skin I nearly miss the low humming coming from her chest. Moving my eyes back to hers, I find her watching me intently, her troubled eyes heavy.

“Chase,” she breathes, barely a whisper.

“Hmm?” I hum, flattening my palm against her stomach soothingly.

“Please…” she
rasps, the desperation in her voice undeniable. “Please just make me forget.”

“What do you want to forget, Baby?”

“Everything…” she admits, causing my heart to stop as a rogue tear slips down her cheek while I hold her gaze. “Everything but you…”

Sophie

As Chase runs his thumb ov
er my cheek, catching the traitor tear, he leans over and presses his lips to mine. He starts off slowly, the combination between his tongue tasting mine and my high completely intoxicating.

He lays me across the length of the couch, positioning just enough of his weight on me to make me feel alive, holding back just enough to make me want more. Splaying his palm against the base of my neck possessively, protectively, he controls me, consumes me.

On the couch, Chase makes love to me gently. When he lifts me into his arms in the shower, he takes me completely. As we make our way to our bed, he fucks me urgently, using so much delicious force my legs lie useless around him as he stays resting inside me.

By the time the sun rises through our bedroom window, I’m not healed, but I’m no longer worried
about my mother. I’m not thinking about my fight with Jack or all the painful memories that resurfaced because of it. I don’t even think I remember my own name by the time my eyelids flutter closed against his chest.

The only thing I’m thinking about
when I slip into a deliciously dreamless sleep is the arms wrapped around me and the man who owns them.

The man who owns me.

My perfect man.

My personal savior.

My one and only.

My Chase.

Chapter Twenty Two

Sophie

“Is this the last one, Baby?” Chase calls as he grabs the handles on the hot pink duffle bag I’ve set on the bed.

“How long did you say ‘til we’re driving back again?” I call from my position on the floor of our walk-in closet.

“Not sure,” he admits, smirking down at the sight of me surrounded in a heap of shoes. “Two, three weeks tops?”

“Okay,”
I say, chewing on my lip in consideration.

“Don’t bite your lip, Baby,” he husks. “We’re already running late.”

“Sorry,” I blush. “Well, when we come back are we checking out of the hotel or are we staying checked in?”

“I don’t know,” he chuckles. “Does that matter?”

“Um, yeah,” I say, looking at him like he’s lost his mind. “I need to know how many times I’m gonna have to pack. If it’s more than twice, I’m about to seriously rethink some shit.”

“Okay, Baby,” he starts, checking his watch. “Please thin
k fast. We should’ve left ten minutes ago. I want to beat rush hour.”

“Don’t get irritated with me, Mitchell,” I tease. “I tried packing last night and you wouldn’t have it. If we hit traffic, you have only yourself to blame.”

“Yeah, well I don’t remember hearing any objections outta you,” he replies, throwing me another smirk as he leans against the frame of the closet door. “In fact, if I recall correctly, you were throwing around the words ‘yes’ and ‘more’ pretty freely. Then there was that one, ‘don’t ever stop fucking me, you gorgeous, tattooed, Viking sex god’, but I don’t remember you saying one word about packing shoes.”

“You’re so full of crap,” I
say, blushing furiously as I throw the shoe I’m holding, aiming for his head. “I have
never
called you a Viking.”

Laughing as he ducks, he straightens and reaches for the ‘swoosh’ embossed weapon and finds its mate.

“Come on, you can take these,” he says. “Pick out some fuck me pumps and let’s go, Baby.”

Grabbing all three of the pairs that have been causing my internal struggle, I toss them into another bag and
stand to face him. Letting out an appreciative sigh, I take stock of him, smiling widely when I see what he’s wearing.

“Are you wearing the shirt I got you?” I ask excitedly, causing him to chuckle.

“Of course,” he admits, taking another look at the ridiculously cutesy shirt I’d bought him for Christmas. “I love it.”

“Good,” I smile, leaning up to kiss him as my hand rests across the words
My Fiancé Kicks Your Fiancé’s Ass
that splay across his chest.

Since our first Christmas together had admittedly turned into a disaster, we’d agreed to wait on exchanging gifts. Instead of following the traditions we’d
both grown up with, we’d hidden them around the house and had been finding them all week. He still had a three more to find from me and according to him, I was still due five.

“You like it?” he asks in a soft voice as he
watches me reposition the clasp on the necklace I’d woken wearing this morning.

“It’s perfect,” I
beam as I take in the zombie with diamond eyes and the Chinese takeout charm that rests beside it. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, Princess,” he says, leaning down to kiss me gently. “I’m
gonna go put your bags in the truck. Don’t forget to grab your jacket, Baby.”

“Okay,” I say. “Do you need me to get anything for you?”

“Yeah,” he says, hesitating at the door. “Can you grab me a bottle of water?”

“Sure,”
I say as I pull my jacket on as I make my way to the fridge.

I’m not really paying much attention when I push the door shut, but a flash of my favorite green logo causes me to stop in my tracks. Pulling the door back open, I take in the Starbucks cartons filling the shelf.

Oh. My. God
.

I’m still standing in front of the open door taking in my perfectly blended French roast salvation when Chase’s laughter breaks my thoughts.

“They’re beautiful,” I whisper, completely oblivious to his full out belly laugh at my response.

“I thought for sure that would be your first find,
but you’ve barely been out of bed all week,” he says, the smile in his voice obvious. “That should hold you over for a few weeks so once we get back, we won’t have to drive up there anymore. We can just order it from the site.”

The words he’s not saying are the ones that tug at my heartstrings the most. I love Starbucks. It’s among my top five favorite things on the planet. However, a certain barista who is hell bent on sabotaging both our happiness and caffeine intake has kept us away from our local chain for months.

Chase didn’t just buy me my favorite thing. He took one more measure to make sure I never have to deal with his psychotic ex again.

Surprising him, I turn and run directly into his arms, jumping up and wrapping my legs around his waist. Grabbing the hair at the back of his neck, I savor the gentle rumble in his chest as I press my lips to his furiously.
As his hands rest on my ass, he squeezes and runs his tongue against mine as we hit the wall behind him with force.

“Damn, Baby,” he groans against my lips, holding my
eyes as I pant against him.

“Sorry,” I blush. “I really love the coffee.”

“I can tell,” he smiles, pressing his lips to mine twice. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you love it more than me.”

“Nope,” I smile. “Love you more than coffee, Honey Badger.”

“Hmm,” he hums, kissing me again. “I love you more than beer, Gorgeous.”

“That’s a lot,”
I laugh, loving the feel of his lips moving down my neck as his hands knead my ass.

S
ucking hard on my neck as he turns us, he roughly pushes my back against the wall he’d been leaning on.

“God, I want to fuck you so bad right now,” he admits
as he drops me to my feet, holding my eyes as he begins unfastening his jeans and bends to kiss me.

“What about traffic?” I pant against his lips.

“I love you more than avoiding traffic, too,” he husks out against my skin, pulling a low whimper from my chest. “We’ll be quick. Take your pants off, Sweetheart.”

Doing as he says, I quickly
push them off and send my shoes flying. His jeans are barely to his knees before I’m gripping his neck and he’s pulling me back up against the wall. As he pushes into me, we both let out a groan of pleasure, my head falling back against the wall behind me.

“Jesus, Sophie,”
he grounds out, biting into my neck. “Your pussy is fucking phenomenal.”

“Oh my God
, Baby,” I breathe, pulling a low growl from his chest as he moves his lips back to mine, kissing me so hard my lips feel bruised immediately. “It’s yours, Chase.”

“That’s right it’s mine,” he says, pushing into me faster, with more force. “Every beautiful inch of this body belongs to me, doesn’t it, Baby?”

“Yes,” I whimper, his words already causing my head to spin. “Oh my God, yes!”

“You want it harder, Dirty Girl?” he teases huskily, his lips a whisper above mine.

“Yes,” I groan my confession as I dig my nails into his arms, pulling another growl from him.

“Hold on,” he tells me and immediately, my hands move to his neck, one hand flying to my favorite spot at the back of his neck as I smash my lips against his.

He uses the barbell in his tongue to massage mine as he gently sucks, such a huge contrast to the force in which he’s taking me. The combined effect has me growing wetter around him immediately, causing us to moan into each others’ mouths simultaneously.

Carefully moving one hand, he grips the bottom of my hair, pulling it sharply, causing me to wail in pleasure. H
e slams into me again and again, the intensity in his gaze daring me to look away.

A
s he bites on my lower lip and gives me every glorious inch of him, my head begins to spin. In just minutes, my sex begins to clench around him, making his eyes sparkle in victory as he lets out a low growl.

“You
gonna give me what I want, Princess?” he teases, his hot breath spreading across my cheek as he bites down onto my lobe. “You gonna come for me?”

“Yes,” I manage, my heavy eyes fluttering as he pulls my hair tighter in his hand. “I’m so close.”

“Give it to me, Sophie,” he whispers, his teeth teasing my chin. “Come on my dick.”

“Oh my God,”
I groan.

“Go Baby,” he whispers,
his final words my tipping point.

As I fall apart around him, he
gazes down at me, biting his lip as he continues to move inside me.

“Good girl,” he hums as my release
washes over him causing his breathing to quicken.

I watch as his heavy eyes, filled with desire, take in our connection before making their way back to mine.

“I can feel you all over me, Princess,” he pants, staring into me as I hum in pleasure.

Slowly licking my way up from the base of his neck to his jaw, I pull a long groan from him.
I savor in the heaving coming from his chest as I make my way to his ear.

Now give me mine, Baby,” I whisper as I bite down sharply on his lobe, gripping the back of his hair. “I want it.”

Fuck, Sophie,” he says, slamming me against the wall with the renewed force of his thrusts.

His eyes hold mine possessively as he g
rips onto my thighs tightly, completely losing himself as he fills me to the brink.

As he tucks his head into the crook of my neck, I lazily run my lips over his skin, stroking his arms while we both come down. Raising his head slowly, he kisses me slowly, pulling back to take me in.

“I’m gonna buy you coffee more often,” he says, causing me to laugh against his mouth. “That shit was fuckin’ hot, Babe.”

Setting me down gently,
I stay leaned against the wall, watching as he pulls his jeans back up. Letting out a yawn, he smirks and lets his eyes run over the still bare legs beneath my long sweater before finding my eyes again.

“Did I wear you out, Baby?”

“Yeah,” I admit with a chuckle as I slip my thong back up my weak legs. “I don’t even want to get dressed again.”

“So don’t,” he shrugs
, leaning down to grab my jeans and shoes. “Come here.”

Hooking my arms around his neck, I wrap my legs back around his waist and let him carry me
to his truck. Setting me down, I swing my legs around and watch as he walks in the house to grab his keys and lock up. A few minutes later when he climbs in beside me, I’m still grinning at him in disbelief.

“You ready?” he asks, looking down at me.

“You’re seriously going to let me go all the way to Houston without pants on?”

“Why not?
You don’t have to get out anywhere and you’re tired,” he shrugs. “Lie down and take a nap, Baby.”

“Okay,” I sigh, tossing my jeans onto the floorboard with my shoes.

The prospect of a nap is an appealing one, so I rest against the seat and begin scrolling through his mp3 player. After leaning up to kiss him, I stretch out across the seat and lay my head in his lap.

“Love you,
Babysaurus,” I yawn, wrapping my hands around his thigh like a pillow.

“I love you, too, Gorgeous,”
he says quietly, running his hand over my side to lift my sweater and rest his palm on my back.

By the time he sings
the closing notes of ‘By the Way’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers to me in his soft voice, I’m fast asleep.

Chase

After an hour
and a half of sideways glances at Sophie’s bare legs, I’m hard as fuck. Shifting uncomfortably in the seat, she lets out a little whimper and rolls over slightly. The innocent action pushes her sweater up higher above her waist, leaving her hot pink lace thong completely visible.

Sweet Jesus.

A few more uncomfortable minutes pass before my girl begins to wake, stretching her arms with another sexy whimper. Glancing down, her gorgeous green eyes meet mine as she runs her fingertips over my stomach, tickling my skin through the cotton.

“Hi
Sugar Lips,” she husks out in a sleepy voice, inadvertently adding to my melt down.

“Hey Baby,” I manage, resting my hand on the side of her neck.

Turning her head, she kisses me on the wrist and squeezes my arm affectionately.

“Hmm, that feels good, Baby,” she says, letting out a soft hum, biting down on her lip and letting her eyes close as I stroke her skin with my thumb.

Biting down on my lip, I can’t help the low groan that escapes me. Hearing it, I feel her eyes on me before I feel the gentle shake of her laughter.

“You okay?”

“No,” I admit grumpily, making her laugh harder. “I don’t know what the hell you’re laughing about,” I tease her. “We’ve narrowly avoided about fourteen accidents since I got on the interstate thanks to you.”
