And the two edges of the gash were once again fused together. And He cauterized her
cunt-wounds. And then He shrunk Himself down to the size of a mortal man, and took on
a naked mortal man’s appearance. And He held a flogger made of living lampreys and
took it to His concubine as punishment for confessing love for another.
* * *
And this was the game Eleanor and I played with Lori. Eleanor tortured Lori until
she was convinced that Lori had confessed her love for her. Then I tortured Lori for
having confessed love for another, for having lain with another. I would not ordinarily
have permitted an angel to play with my concubine. No one plays with my things without
my permission.
The play session was only permitted because it was part of Lori’s torture. It was a
sort of warm up. Foreplay. And Eleanor was the most exquisite torturer. I wept when I
saw her at work.

“MIRACLE BABY” SURVIVES APPARENT ABDUCTION
By Nancy Cavendish
Associated Press
PORTSMOUTH, Virginia (AP) – The grandmother of an abducted infant called his
return “a miracle”, but authorities say this development only raises more questions about the continued disappearance of the baby’s mother.
A spokesman for the Virginia State Police stated that twenty-four year old Lori Morris
went missing the same day as her child and was, in fact, identified by an eyewitness
account as his abductor. Police also stated they had reason to believe that an Indiana
woman (thirty-seven year old Eleanor Blake) may have also been involved in the
abduction plot. The return of the special needs infant, apparently unharmed despite
previous reports he had been injured by his mother, has lead police to speculate that Ms.
Morris may have had second thoughts about the abduction and returned him home.
“We suspect that Lori Morris and Eleanor Blake came to regret their decision,” Trooper
John Connelly of the Virginia State Police said. “We have reason to believe, however,
that they may still be dangerous to themselves or others. We ask that they continue to
make things right and turn themselves in. Further attempts to evade justice will only
make their situation worse. We have no other comment at this time.”
The infant’s grandmother and legal guardian, forty-seven year old Jennifer Morris,
disputes the State Police theory that her daughter returned the infant. “It wasn’t Lori who brought Josh back to us. It was an angel.” Jennifer Morris’ story of being awakened at
three in the morning by a visitor who returned the child has gone viral on social media.
One status she posted yesterday morning described the alleged encounter this way: “I
couldn’t see him that well. It was dark. I couldn’t understand everything he was saying. It was like he was speaking in tongues. But I saw him, and then – like that – he was gone.
Back to Heaven.”
Jennifer Morris reports that Victory Assembly of God (where she is a member) has
scheduled a special prayer and praise service to honor the child’s return. “I have faith that this will be the first of many miracles. Josh will get better, over time. His physical
problems will go away, I just know it. He’s my miracle baby. There’s no reason he won’t
grow up to get married and have a family, like everyone else. There’s no reason why he
won’t grow to a ripe, old age. It’s clear God saved Josh for a reason. He has a special
purpose for this child to fulfill.”

FUN FACTS ABOUT NICOLE
• Nicole cites Thomas Ligotti, Hubert Selby, Jr. and Phillip K. Dick as some of her
influences.
• She frequently writes while listening to the music of Phillip Glass, Shostakovich, or
Alfred Schnittke.
• All of this creates cognitive dissonance, as Nicole is actually quite the redneck woman at heart.
• Nicole can be found stumbling around the lands of Facebook and Twitter, tapping the
microphone and repeatedly asking “Is this thing on?”
PRAISE FOR NICOLE CUSHING…
“The confidence and expertise so blatantly evident in Nicole
Cushing’s writing is astonishing.”
—Thomas Ligotti
“Nicole Cushing comes in smart and hard, skilled and strange
times three. Many aspire. But you can’t fake this kind of weird.”
—John Skipp,
NY Times Bestselling
Author
“This tale of a damaged and murderous child is the most original
horror novel I’ve read in years. Cushing’s prose is rapid-fire,
grisly, and passionate.”
—Poppy Z. Brite, reference to
Mr.
Suicide
“Audacious, original and gleefully offensive, a broadside against
the entire notion of divinity, with an ending you’ll never see
coming. Nicole Cushing is somebody to watch.”
—Jack
Ketchum, in reference to
I Am the New God
“Nicole Cushing’s stories grab you by the throat — and don’t let
go until they have slapped you around a bit. I know of few writers
of contemporary weird fiction whose stories pack the raw
emotional power that hers do…”
