Luke 10:13-37

13

Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14

But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15

And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

16

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

17
And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

18
 And he said unto them,
I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

21
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said,
I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

22

All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and
he
to whom the Son will reveal
him.

23
 And he turned him unto
his
disciples, and said privately,
Blessed
are
the eyes which see the things that ye see:
24

for I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen
them;
and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard
them.

25
And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26
 He said unto him,
What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28
 And he said unto him,
Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29
But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30
 And Jesus answering said,
A certain
man
went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded
him,
and departed, leaving
him
half dead.

31

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked
on him,
and passed by on the other side.

33

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion
on him,
34

and went to
him,
and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave
them
to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37
And he said, He that shewed mercy on him.

Then said Jesus unto him,
Go, and do thou likewise.

Psalm 75:1-10

To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, A Psalm
or
Song of Asaph.

1
Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks,
unto thee
do we give thanks: for
that
thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.

2
When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.

3
The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.

4
I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

5
Lift not up your horn on high: speak
not with
a stiff neck.

6
 For promotion
cometh
neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7
 But God
is
the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

8
For in the hand of the L
ORD
there is
a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring
them
out,
and
drink
them.

9
But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10
 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off;
but
the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Proverbs 12:12-14

12
The wicked desireth the net of evil
men:
but the root of the righteous yieldeth
fruit.

13
The wicked is snared by the transgression of
his
lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

14
A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of
his
mouth: and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Deuteronomy 26:1–27:26

1
And it shall be, when thou
art
come in unto the land which the L
ORD
thy God giveth thee
for
an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;
2
that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the L
ORD
thy God giveth thee, and shalt put
it
in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the L
ORD
thy God shall choose to place his name there.
3
And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the L
ORD
thy God, that I am come unto the country which the L
ORD
sware unto our fathers for to give us.

4
And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the L
ORD
thy God.
5
And thou shalt speak and say before the L
ORD
thy God, A Syrian ready to perish
was
my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:
6
and the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:
7
and when we cried unto the L
ORD
God of our fathers, the L
ORD
heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:
8
 and the L
ORD
brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:
9
and he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land,
even
a land that floweth with milk and honey.
10
And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O L
ORD
, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the L
ORD
thy God, and worship before the L
ORD
thy God:
11
and thou shalt rejoice in every good
thing
which the L
ORD
thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that
is
among you.

12
When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year,
which is
the year of tithing, and hast given
it
unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
13
then thou shalt say before the L
ORD
thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of
mine
house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten
them:
14
I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away
aught
thereof for
any
unclean
use,
nor given
aught
thereof for the dead:
but
I have hearkened to the voice of the L
ORD
my God,
and
have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.
15
Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

16
 This day the L
ORD
thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
17
 Thou hast avouched the L
ORD
this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken unto his voice:
18
 and the L
ORD
hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that
thou
shouldest keep all his commandments;
19
and to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the L
ORD
thy God, as he hath spoken.

27:
1
And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
2
And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the L
ORD
thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster:
3
and thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the L
ORD
thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the L
ORD
God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
4
Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan,
that
ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.
5
And there shalt thou build an altar unto the L
ORD
thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up
any
iron
tool
upon them.
6
Thou shalt build the altar of the L
ORD
thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the L
ORD
thy God:
7
and thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the L
ORD
thy God.
8
And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

9
And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the L
ORD
thy God.
10
Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the L
ORD
thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

11
And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
12
These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
13
and these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

14
And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
15
 Cursed
be
the man that maketh
any
graven or molten image, an abomination unto the L
ORD
, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth
it
in
a
secret
place.

And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

16
 Cursed
be
he that setteth light by his father or his mother.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

17
 Cursed
be
he that removeth his neighbour's landmark.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

18
 Cursed
be
he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

19
 Cursed
be
he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

20
 Cursed
be
he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

21
 Cursed
be
he that lieth with any manner of beast.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

22
 Cursed
be
he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

23
 Cursed
be
he that lieth with his mother in law.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

24
 Cursed
be
he that smiteth his neighbour secretly.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

25
 Cursed
be
he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person.

And all the people shall say, Amen.

26
 Cursed
be
he that confirmeth not
all
the words of this law to do them.

And all the people shall say, Amen.
