Storm added, “Well, damn it, I care! Besides I don’t recall this blown out bridge as being paradise. Anyway listen up. Not far from here I understand there’s an old Irish pub that serves the best ale in New York City and they’ve got two cold ones waiting for us.”
Savage stood up and said, “Well mate why the bloody hell didn’t you say so in the first place? Let’s go get patched up and keep that date with the brewmaster.”
As Storm helped Savage up from the Captain’s chair Storm said, “Oh by the way the Commissioner called the Director of the FBI and told him you’re really going to get it when you arrive back in Bermuda.”
Savage grinned and said, “I guess I’ll be a flat foot again. That is if I’m lucky.”
Storm replied, “No, I think he said something about knighting your ugly butt.”
Savage replied, “Oh bloody hell. By the way, did he say how my mate Krack is doing? Did he make it?”
Storm laughed and added, “Yeah, I almost forgot. The Commissioner said he’ll live, and he’s wearing out his welcome at the hospital. When he’s released, he’s going to be the newest cadet on the St. Georges Police Force. He’s going to be your new right hand mon.”
Trying to grin Savage said, “I knew I should have let Hooda do me in. Now I’m stuck with the Crazy Jamaican.”
Both men laughed as best as they could through the pain. Clinging on to each other they made their way out of the bridge and onto the helicopter pad where an air ambulance chopper was waiting.
