Josh thought his brother-in-law quite perceptive because the thought kept dancing across his mind. “It will only be out of love, Josef.” Josh brought his hand up like he was going to punch the other man, and Josef stumbled back. Cole and Jensen busted out laughing.

“Come on in the house.” Cole started up the steps. “So much has happened since you’ve been gone.”

“You’re telling me? You wouldn’t believe what happened to Jensen and me.” Josh stood back to let Jensen walk ahead of him.

“Josh!”

Josh looked over his shoulder to see Jake walking out from the woods. He had been so distracted he never heard his brother approach. Before Josh realized it, he was running toward Jake and Jake toward him. They met in the middle and clasped their arms tightly around one another. Jake was more than just his twin. He was Josh’s best friend.

“I thought I’d never see you again,” Jake whispered into his ear.

“You can’t get rid of me that easily.” Josh pulled back to look into the eyes so much like his own. It saddened him to see the once bright kelly-green eyes seemed to have dulled in the time since he’d been gone. He hated to have caused such pain in his brother. “I just needed time to get my head together is all. I never meant to hurt you,” he answered honestly.

Jake nodded his head then looked off into the distance. Josh was worried his brother wasn’t going to forgive him, but then Jake looked back at him with a small smile on his face. “You’re lucky I’m an understanding person.”

Josh hugged Jake again, and everything that had kept him away seemed so trivial now. His brothers were his family and would always be there for him with understanding hearts. It was his own selfishness that drove him away.

As they walked to where Jensen, Cole, and Josef stood, Jake filled him on what he’d been doing. Josh couldn’t believe how different Jake seemed. He looked the same, but his personality had changed. Maybe him leaving helped Jake find his own voice.

When they neared the others, Josh introduced Jake to Jensen. “Jake, I’d like you to meet Jensen. He’s my mate.”

Jake’s forehead wrinkled in confusion. “I didn’t know you were gay.”

Josh squeezed his eyes shut as Jensen, Cole, and Josef started to laugh.

“It’s complicated,” Jensen responded in between bouts of laughter.

Jake still looked perplexed, and Josh couldn’t help it. He started to laugh.

Josh pulled Jensen close and dipped his head down until their mouths were close enough to touch. “Very complicated,” he said against Jensen’s lips then kissed him.

“You’re lucky I’m a patient man, Josh Weathers,” Jensen said as he pulled back from Josh’s hold.

“I’m very lucky.” He brought his hands up to brace on either side of Jensen’s face. “I’ve got you, and that’s all I’ll ever need to be happy.” Josh paused, trying to regain control of his emotions. “I love you, Jensen.”

“That’s good to know because I love you, too. Even if you’re a pain in the ass sometimes.”

Josh smiled so wide he thought his face would split in two. He swooped down and planted a soft yet passionate kiss on his mate’s lips.

Behind him he could hear Cole laughing while Josef tried to explain to Jake what they had already discussed. They had all come such a long way in the past four weeks, and Josh for one couldn’t wait to see what the next forty years brought them.
