Dawn paced her cell, frustrated at the thought of not knowing what was happening to her friends. She was frustrated because no matter how hard she tried, her android strength was not enough to break through the reinforced walls and door that trapped her.   

After days of waiting with no word from anyone, she could wait no longer; she decided she was going to connect to the mainframe and see if she could find the answers that she needed. The moment she connected there was a rush of information seeping into her head. She sifted through the mundane information of the guardians day to day routines, she searched deep within the net to the core where all the important data was stored. She had it at last, she now knew that Lili and Gwen had managed to escape, but she was also furious because she knew that Kev was in great danger. At this very moment he was in a room somewhere beyond these walls being tortured for information.

She severed the link with the mainframe and let out a frustrated scream as she slammed her fist against the cold hard steel of the door. She slumped down onto the cot in the corner of the tiny room, agonizing over the fate that she was left to. As she began to think there was no hope the door swung open and an A.I. unit stood before her. “You will come with me Red66.”   

“My name is Dawn you cold uncaring pile of junk.” She yelled at it.

“You will come with me.” The unit said again as it stood motionless in the doorway.

Dawn rose from her place on the cot and walked to the doorway; she had contemplated ripping the units head from its body but soon noticed several more units in the hallway beyond and thought better of the idea. “Where are you taking me?”

“You will follow and obey.” Said one of the A.I. units as they made their way past the cell doors.

As they continued to walk she saw another unit carrying an unconscious Kev back into his cell. She let out a gasp, “Kev!”

The unit behind her shoved her forward. “You will keep walking.”

Dawn was angry at what they had done to her friend and at the situation they were in, unfortunately there was not much she could do about any of this at the present time. All she could do now was follow and hope that something would happen to allow her to take action and help her friends.

She was led into a room, empty save for one chair with leather straps attached to the arms. “Sit there and wait.” Commanded one of the units as they took up sentry on both sides of the door.

Dawn sat in the chair wondering what it was she was waiting for. She did not have to wait long however as a familiar voice spoke. “So why don’t we skip all the formalities and you tell us where we can find Lili and the others.”

Dawn turned her head to see Mal standing there with a smug grin on his face. “You traitorous worm, I would never tell you anything.”

“Oh I think you will find that I can be very persuasive, even to your kind. A little reprograming and you will be very cooperative. That is after we have done some research and found out just what it is that makes you so much different from our friends over there.” Said Mal.

Dawn stood in a flash grabbing Mal by the throat, “You will not touch me.” She yelled. She was immediately grabbed by the two A.I. guards and yanked to the ground.

“Now, now, I would suggest you behave yourself before my friends here are forced to rip your arms from your body. In fact, guardians, remove one of her arms so she will be less inclined to misbehave.”

Without a word the guardians yanked on Dawns arm ripping it from her body. She could feel no pain but she let out a frustrated yell none the less, “You will pay for this.”

“Now take her to the other room so we may begin seeing just how she works.”

The guardians lifted her from the floor shoving her towards the door on the opposite side of the room. The room was filled with shelves and tools, a table lie in the center with various straps attached. They shoved her onto the table and buckled many straps over her body. Mal stood beside her looking over the tools and grabbed a large saw that buzzed and whirred when he pressed a button, just as he was about to push the blade down upon her a blinding light engulfed the room, Dawn had completely disappeared. Everything in the room remained the same the only thing missing was Dawn.

Epilogue

He watched from his seat high in the sky, where no beings could spot his craft. He could see all that happened on the planet below, he took pity on the beings that once roamed free, but he was forbidden from interfering in the affairs of others. The evolution of this species had taken a great leap over the centuries, however they were still not quite ready to know of the knowledge he possessed.

There were three beings he watched closely on the surface, three that intrigued him greatly and he longed to see how their fates would play out. He knew he could not directly interfere with the course of a planet and its people, however with one being and a being that was not even truly living in the truest sense of the word he could not harm much. He looked upon his table at the armless body that lay motionless, almost as if she were asleep, waiting for something more.
