“Katie got out of the bath and dressed
in white linen trousers and a black vest top,
quickly blow dried her hair and applied a little
make-up before walking to Andreus’ study.
He was still on the phone talking rapidly in
Greek and frowning, he looked up and saw
her walking over, he smiled and winked.
Katie walked over to the desk and perched on
the edge next to the papers he was scribbling
on.

Andreus hung up and turned to Katie.
“You look beautiful, are you feeling a little
more fresh and relaxed?”

“Refreshed yes, relaxed no. What did
your solicitor say?”

“It’s being taken care of as we speak.”

“So why was you frowning when I

walked in?”

“That was Nik, there is a problem with
a client, it was nothing to do with Rhiannon.”

“Good. Thank you. So how is Nik, Mel
and Sophia?”

“Fine. Mel wants to know if you want
to go shopping with her tomorrow. I was
hoping to take you on the yacht around the
islands for the week, but I’m needed in the
office for a few hours tomorrow, so we can
leave the following day.”

“Ok, I’d love to spend the day with
Mel. What time?”

“You two can discuss that this evening,
they are coming over for dinner in an hour.”
He lent forward and kissed her. “I love you.”

“I love you too. So what is for dinner?”

“I don’t have a clue, Olympus is
cooking?”

“Olympus?”

“The new housekeeper.”

“Oh! Is she good?”

“Excellent, come on.” They walked
through the lounge and onto the balcony.

“I have to pinch myself every time I
come to Greece, to make sure I’m not
dreaming.” Katie sighed as she walked over to
the railings and looked out to the sea view.
“It’s so peaceful and beautiful.”

“Hmm.” He wrapped his arms around

her waist and pulled her close, kissing her
neck. “I’ve hated being apart for so long.” He
mumbled. “I wish I could pass some of the
travelling onto Nik but that wouldn’t be fair
when they’ve got such a young family.”

“I know, I understand, but what
happens when you get married and have
babies?”

“We’ll have to split it again.” The
doorbell rang and they heard Olympus walk
through the apartment. Nikos and Melissa
walked out onto the balcony, Melissa ran over
and pulled Katie into a hug.

“Oh God! I’ve missed you!” Melissa
said.

“I’ve missed you too.”

“How is my little Rhiannon?”

“Not so little and big trouble.” Katie
laughed. “Where is Sophia?”

“With the nanny. I never leave her that
often only for dinner and things.”

“So is she coming shopping with us
tomorrow?”

“Of course.” Melissa smiled. Nikos and
Andreus were deep in conversation. “Men and
business.” She rolled her eyes.

“Is there a problem at the office?”
“The New York project keeps coming
up with problems. Nik says that the chances

are one of them will have to go over there and
oversee it until it is finished.”

“Andreus.”

“They’ll probably split it. It’s probably
easier for Nik to go it is his design.”

“What about you and Sophia? He wont
want to leave you two for God knows how
long.”

“And I suppose Andreus would love to
not see you and Rhiannon.”

“That’s different, we’re not married and
Rhiannon isn’t his child.”

“So what! He’s in love with you and he
adores Rhiannon.”

“They went into the dining room and
sat down as Olympas walked in with a big
bowl of soup, Katie looked surprised, she was
very young and beautiful with long dark shiny
hair, huge chocolate coloured eyes and a
stunning olive complexion. She looked at
Andreus and with one eye brow raised, he
frowned.

Melissa looked at Nikos who shook his
head. “What’s going on?” Andreus asked.
“Why is everyone silent all of a sudden?”

“She’s pretty.” Katie smiled.

“Who?”

“Olympus.”

“So…!There are no rules to say
housekeepers have to be old is there?”

“Of course not.” Katie mumbled as she
started to eat her soup. Nikos and Andreus
started speaking Greek again.

“Are you ok honey?” Melissa asked
quietly.

“Sure.” She looked at her watch.
“Sorry, is it ok if I call Rhiannon before she
goes to bed?”

“Of course!” Andreus frowned, he
watched her leave the room. “What’s wrong
with Kate?”

“Nothing! She just wants to speak to
her daughter.” Melissa said.

“That’s not what I meant. She’s gone
quiet and acting like she’s a guest.”

“Maybe that is how she feels.”

“I’ve told her this is her home.”

“She’s…”

“What?”

“I don’t think she likes the idea of
Olympus being here with you.”

“Mel, what are you getting at?”

“God you’re dumb!” Nikos rolled his
eyes. “Olympus is a beautiful girl and you
live here alone with her.”

“She’s my housekeeper!”

“It’s not unheard of for the staff to have
affairs with…”

“Excuse me!” Andreus shouted. “Who

the hell do you think you are accusing me…”

“I’m not!” Nikos laughed. “But Kate
might be a bit worried.”

“I’ll be back in a minute.” Andreus
stood up and walked through to his study
where Katie was sitting on his desk with the
phone to her ear saying goodnight to
Rhiannon. He closed the door silently and
leaned against it. Katie hung up, jumped off
the desk and turned, she jumped when she
saw him.

“I’m sorry, I was just coming.”

“It’s fine. What’s wrong with you?”

“Pardon!” She looked taken aback.

“Do you have a problem with my
choice of staff?”

“No…”

“Don’t lie to me Kate.”

“Fine, I don’t like the idea of you two
living here together alone. Happy now?”

“Am I happy that my girlfriend doesn’t
trust me? No not really Kate. I love you and I
do not cheat how many times do I have to
repeat that. You need to learn to trust me or
this isn’t going to work.”

“It’s not going to work anyway is it?”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“How long will you be in New York?”

“That isn’t a definite.”

“But likely.” he pulled her into his arms

and kissed the top of her head. “When will
you know?”

“Tomorrow.”

“Come on lets join the others.” She said
trying to stop herself from bursting into tears.
They walked through to the dining room and
sat down.

“Are you ok?” Melissa asked Katie.

“Yeah fine.” They ate the rest of their
meals then Nikos and Melissa left.

Chapter 16

Andreus and Nikos walked into the
conference room together at nine o’clock the
next morning where Theo was waiting. “Good
morning papa.” Nikos smiled as they sat
down.

“Good morning, how is my beautiful
grand-daughter?”

“Fine thank you.”

“I hear Katie is back Andreus?”

“Yes papa.” He smiled.

“Will she be coming for a visit before
she returns to England?”

“We’re going on the yacht for a few
days, but we’ll come home before she
returns.”

“Excellent! Now lets get down to

business. Unfortunately the New York
skyscraper is not going to plan, I think one of
you is going to have to go over there for six
months until the project is complete. Andreus
you are the obvious choice.”

“Of course papa, but I wont be free to
go for two weeks, I want to spend some time
with Kate before I go.”

“I know son, that’s fine.”

“Papa, Mel and I were talking last night
and we feel I should be the one to go. I
designed the structure…”

“You have a family here Nik! Yes I love
Kate and it’s going to be horrible not to see
her for six months but you cant leave your
family.”

“Mel and Sophia will come with me.
We’ll move over as a family for six months.”

“Nik…”

“No, Andreus it’s easier for us! As you
said you love Kate, she cant come with you
not when she has Rhiannon. Mel is fine about
going.”

“You’re sure Melissa is happy with
this?” Theo asked.

“Absolutely papa.” Nikos smiled.

“Fine then it’s sorted, you two had
better go and make sure your women are
behaving.” Theo grinned. Andreus and Nikos
laughed as they left the room.

“Thanks Nik.” Andreus said.

“No thanks necessary, you and Kate are
good together you’re not breaking up over
this stupid bloody design of mine.”

Katie and Melissa were sitting in a
coffee shop feeding Sophia. “So it looks like
Andreus will be going to New York for six
months, that’ll be the end of us.”

“Why?” Melissa looked stunned.

“We’ve been together for a month Mel.
We’re not strong enough to cope with such a
long separation.”

“Kate, you’re crazy about each other!
Besides you don’t know that he’ll be going
yet.”

“It’s a huge possibility.”

“I wasn’t going to tell you this but if
one of them has to go it’ll be Nik.”

“What about you and Sophia?!”

“We’ll be going with him. We spoke
about it last night and it’s easier that way.”

“But Mel…”

“It’s what we both want, I’m quite
excited about it actually! Bloomingdales,
Macy’s and Sak’s on my doorstep, I’ll be in
my element! Trust me Kate, it’s no hardship
so long as papa agrees.” She wiped Sophia’s
mouth and strapped her back into her

pushchair. “Now stop fretting ok, and lets
spend our men’s money.”

“I cant spend Andreus’ money?!”

“Oh but honey you can! You need
clothes for your trip. Come on.”

Nikos and Andreus were sitting on the
balcony drinking whiskey when Katie,
Melissa and Sophia arrived at the apartment,
Katie was loaded with carrier bags. “Looks
like you two had good fun.” Nikos laughed.

“You haven’t seen the half of it babe,
my shopping is still in the car.”

“Is my credit card burning again?”

“Yep.” He groaned as Melissa laughed.

“Did you buy some things for our trip?”
Andreus asked Katie as he pulled her down on
his lap.

“Yes I used my own money though.”
She grinned at Melissa who rolled her eyes.

“I hope not! I didn’t give you my card
last night for nothing.”

“I used it a few times.” She smiled.

“You should have used it every time.”

“Boring!” Melissa moaned as the others
laughed. “So how did the meeting go?”

“Looks like we are moving to New
York darling.” Nikos smiled.

“Excellent! When do we leave?”

“Just after Katie goes back to England.”

“Mel are you really happy about this?”
Andreus asked. “It’s going to be a lot of
hassle moving with a tiny baby and then back
again just six months later.”

“It’s my dream to live in America!
Besides it’s better for us to move there than
you two to be separated for six months!”

“Ok, so long as you’re happy.”

“Oh I am.” She laughed. “I’ll be even
happier if I get to be a maid of honour when I
get back. Katie choked on her juice, Andreus
laughed as he tapped her back and Nikos
rolled his eyes

“Jesus Mel, I cant take you anywhere!”

Chapter 17

Andreus and Katie spent ten days on
the yacht sailing to Kos, Crete and Rhodes.
He had intended to take her to more of the
islands and to Turkey but she had loved
Rhodes so much they’d decided to spent the
rest of their time their. When they arrived
back in Athens, they spent two days locked up
in the apartment before spending the last day
of her holiday at his parents home.

“Hello Katie.” Sophia Sillas smiled as
she kissed both of her cheeks. “Welcome
back! Did you enjoy the sailing?”

“It was fantastic! The islands are
beautiful.”

“We stayed in Rhodes for seven days,
we hardly sailed.” Andreus laughed.

“You said you were happy to stay
there.”

“I was! Believe me sweetheart I have
spent my whole life travelling the islands, I
was happy in Rhodes because you were there
with me.”

“You little softy!” Melissa laughed as
she walked over. “Oh Kate, he is definitely
the tyrant Nikos made him out to be isn’t he?”
She rolled her eyes. “He’s made of
marshmallow really.”

“Marshmallow!” Andreus laughed. “I
am a tyrant, don’t ruin my reputation.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Katie laughed as
she wrapped her arms around Andreus’ waist.
She caught Sophia giving them a
disapproving look and stepped away quickly.

They all walked to the pool where Theo
and Nikos were playing with baby Sophia,
Andreus walked over to them smiling leaving
Melissa and Katie sitting at the table on the
terrace. “Mel, do Greek parents disapprove of
showing affection in public?”

“No! Why?”

“When I put my arms around Andreus a
minute ago Sophia gave me a filthy look, I

don’t think they approve of me.” Katie said
sadly.

“Why wouldn’t they?”

“Because I’m an English single mother.
Maybe they think he should marry a Greek
beauty.”

“I’m English, they don’t have a
problem with me and never have.”

“Maybe it’s because of Rhiannon then.”

“I’m sure they like you Kate, besides
you’re Andreus’ choice, it has nothing to do
with her. Talk to Andreus.”

“No, I don’t want to make a big thing
of it. It’s not like we’re serious yet, we’ve
only been together for eight weeks.”

“Are you joking! Nikos and I were
already talking about marriage and children
by then! Andreus loves you Kate, Nikos has
even said he’s never seen Andreus act with
another woman they way he is with you. Even
if the family were worried about you being a
single mother they’d never treat you or speak
to you with anything less than politeness.”

“I suppose.”

“They do like you Kate. Especially
Theo, he always asks me how you and
Rhiannon are and when you’re coming over
for a visit.”

“I just don’t want anything to come
between Andreus and I, I’m mad about him.”
Katie smiled as Andreus started to walk
towards them with Sophia in his arms.
