Mel moaned, a long shuddering breath, her head dangling toward the bed. Her hips began a slow gyration against him but he crushed her writhing waist in his arms and tilted his head again. His lips clamped down as the tip of her breast twisted and this time he let his teeth lightly bite the hard nub. Mel cried out as a spasm convulsed her body and her arms quaked.

As he moved to the other breast, Kirk’s arousal, already swollen, rubbed along the inside of her thigh. He wanted to fill her, plunge deep inside, but not before she had to have it as much as he did.

Mel’s breathing had turned into a series of small cries. As he sucked her hard into his mouth, her abdomen flexed against him, and her hips suddenly jerked.

Yes
, he thought, as animal instinct took over.

He dropped his jaw and gnawed deeply at the jiggling mound of flesh. It gave easily as he pressed his face forward and his tongue lashed up and down. Though he knew it was too hard and he held her too tight, it was too late for thought. His body responded to hers, her every response fueled him, and the fire in him quickly turned molten. His lips twisted her flesh one way, then the other, and quickly back again.

Mel groaned as her back curved and arched and then her hips began a hard grind into his.

So close.

With a final flurry of tugs, and sucking, and gnawing, his teeth slowly grazed her entire nipple with quick tiny bites. Mel’s hips bucked hard against him as she collapsed back onto her elbows and the swollen, rosy tip pulled free. In a single swift motion, Kirk lifted her waist and hips clear of the edge of the bed, spread her legs with his hips, and thrust into her.

All at once, his arousal pressed past her resistant flesh and a deep grunt escaped her. Her flesh enveloped him, stroked him, warm and moist and tight, and he moaned as he penetrated deeper. With a single driving thrust, he entered her fully. His hot flesh sank deep and his hips thudded into her as he pulled her tight against him. Her breasts leapt at the sudden impact and her abdomen convulsed. Her arms quaked with the effort to support herself and a strangled cry emerged from her throat.

Had it been too much?

“Mel?” he gasped, still gripping her tightly.

She didn’t raise her head but he was able to make out the one word she said.

Harder
,” she gasped.

As though a barrier had broken, he reared back and sank himself to the hilt. With complete abandon, he pumped himself into her, again and again. He thrust wildly, hard and deep, gripping her tightly around the waist. Even as his back bowed with each quick penetration, his arms pulled her onto his rigid shaft. Mel grunted with each plunge, her body shuddering, her lithe torso flexing over his arms as he supported nearly all her weight. She was his–to possess, to satisfy himself, to fill. He pounded into her yet again but instead of withdrawing, he ground himself against her, his hips pivoting and gyrating. She cried out and, as her elbows began to slide outward, he picked her up. In moments, their positions had reversed. As he sat on the edge of the bed, she came down on top of him.

Mel felt the room whirl and then she was upright with Kirk’s arousal spearing up into her. He dragged her with him as he moved backward onto the bed. As he lay back, her knees came down next to his hips and his arms slid from around her. She wobbled as her hair washed in front of her face but her hands quickly landed on Kirk’s massive chest. Suddenly, he thrust up.

Oh
,” she groaned, as a powerful fullness plunged into her.

She writhed around it, feeling it move inside even as it stretched her. As he drew back to thrust again, she sank down on him with her full weight. But the timing was wrong and his swift thrust nearly knocked her off. She struggled to stay in contact, landed with a grunt, and found herself completely impaled on him. He was huge inside her, driving up, his thick arousal filling her.

Oh god
,” she gasped.

As he rose higher, her back arched and she put her hands behind her on his hard thighs. But as her hips tilted, her sweet spot crushed between them. Suddenly, her hips were pumping with the same fury that Kirk’s had. His thrusting had engorged the sensitive spot and now it pulsed, aching for fulfillment. He drove into her again–hard and fast. The jolt of it buzzed on her sweet spot. Heat flooded through her center as her hips whipped back and forth, grinding, and riding him. His strong hands held her at the waist and pressed her down. She moaned as he drove up into her again and she squirmed in his grip.

His hands quickly lifted her a few inches, arching her back. And then he pulled her down as his thrust slammed into her. As he had at the edge of the bed, he hammered into her at a frenzied pace. Her entire body convulsed, her sweet spot vibrated, and she cried out. She pressed down to meet his every upward thrust. Grunting, gasping, her unbridled body could not be stopped. Only Kirk’s hands at her waist kept them connected as her hips fought violently to satisfy themselves. Something primal fueled them, fueled him, as their bodies began to move as one.

Without warning, he tugged her forward and her hands landed to either side of his head as the pulsing of his thrusts became quicker, fevered, relentless. Her arms shook as her hips pumped into him with the same savage strokes. Even as he continued to thunder into her, rocking her entire body, his hands slid slowly higher. One thumb pressed into her belly button, then the other, moving higher. As he had when she’d worn the body suit, he was moving his hands towards her breasts.

At the thought of being touched like that again, a pained whimper joined her gasps. As his hands rose to her ribs, clenching took over her abdomen and the rhythm of her hips faltered. Her arms shook as a moist warmth flooded between her legs. Her hips flew into overdrive as though they could stave off the escalating anticipation. Her breath came in harsh, shuddering gasps. Then, as his fingers slowly began to close around her breasts, he pinched both nipples.

A scream was wrenched from her throat as she fell to her elbows, her body thrashing uncontrollably. The throbbing tips of her breasts were on fire, the pleasure there almost intolerable. And just when she knew she couldn’t take any more, her sweet spot exploded. A thousand shimmering pieces erupted in her abdomen and she clenched on his arousal so hard that he cried out.

He instantly thickened within her, as she convulsed in a chain of spasms. His arousal stretched her, threatened to split her, until finally he erupted inside her.

A deep ‘unh’ flew from her lips as his hips melded with hers and his climax slapped into her. In a blazing sensation of total release, his pulsing length throbbed deep inside. He groaned as clenching overwhelmed her. The great shuddering spasms surrounded him, demanded more, and would not let go.

Her arms were no longer able to support her and she collapsed onto his chest, just as he released her nipples. She moaned against his throat as a profound tremor ran down the length of his body. Though their climax had ebbed, their bodies continued to fuel each other. He was still hard inside her and his hips spasmodically pumped as the remaining waves of clenching milked him. Her tiny, gasping, whimpers of pleasure mingled with his low and satisfied moan.

Finally, utterly spent, they both lay still. Mel’s heart pounded and Kirk’s heaving chest rose and fell beneath her. But she didn’t want to move–not ever. As consciousness began to slip away, the last thing she remembered was Kirk’s arms closing around her.

Mel checked her watch again. Another ten minutes to go.

“Looking at it won’t make it go any faster,” Kirk said.

She sat on the deck’s bench, fully geared up, ready to dive.

Kirk put a hand on her bouncing knee as he leaned down to her. His shadow moved over her and she looked up into his face.

“Save the calories,” he said quietly, caressing the side of her face. Then he kissed her–a soft, quick, pressing of his lips against hers, a brief glide along them, and then he was gone.

She stopped bouncing her knee. They’d slept late but apparently not late enough. According to Kirk, they wouldn’t be diving until noon. Especially after what happened yesterday, he was giving it extra time, double what the dive tables called for.

Although breakfast had been a strange conglomeration of whatever the pirates hadn’t wanted, Mel had eaten like a horse. Kirk had chuckled as he did the same.

The weather was perfect, hot and clear, and the ocean was like glass. On the opposite side of the deck, something in the shadow caught Mel’s eye. It was the oily little rag that Emile had given to her when she was crying.

“Poor Emile,” Mel said quietly. “He doesn’t want to be with them.”

“No, he doesn’t,” Kirk said, checking the oxygen tank. “When the folks from Guantanamo find the happy threesome on Navassa and bring them back, we can testify that Emile wasn’t a willing participant.”

Mel glanced back in the direction of the island though it wasn’t visible. She thought of the dank prison cells, of Jaston possessed and attacking her.

“Hey,” Kirk said. She blinked and looked at him. “They’ll be picked up this morning. They can’t hurt us.”

Mel nodded.

“And eventually we’ll get the cross and coins that they stole,” he said. Then he checked his watch. “Speaking of which…”

They both headed to the dive deck and put on their fins and masks.

“Remember what I said about the aftcastle,” Kirk said, holding his regulator. “I checked the wind and current charts again this morning and I think we should head northeast from the cannons.”

“Got it,” Mel said. Though she’d originally been incredulous at the thought that the location of the cannons had come to Kirk in a dream, she couldn’t argue with the fact that he’d found them. “Northeast.”

She gave the regulator valve a test, put it in her mouth, and turned toward the ocean.

“And if you feel anything,” Kirk said, putting a hand on her arm, “anything unusual, anything at all, but especially pain, let me know right away.”

She nodded and gave the okay sign.

Then they were in the water.

They descended side by side, down to the anchor. Though Kirk glanced at her regularly, he was moving quickly, making a beeline. She thought
she’d
been anxious.

As the seabed rose in elevation, they again came to the uneven bottom and, as though he’d homed in on them, there were the cannons they’d uncovered. The bright green of the oxidized bronze shimmered in the dancing shafts of sunlight. Kirk hovered directly over them and checked his dive compass. He turned and pointed, and the real search began. Mel checked her watch and gauges. They were already twenty minutes into the dive. In the future, they’d set up GPS buoys to mark the site but, for now, the GPS location of the boat was the best they could do.

As though she were his mirror, she closely paralleled Kirk’s track. He’d made it clear that he wanted her “within arm’s reach” on this dive. It decreased the amount of sea floor they could cover but he seemed to have a good idea of where he was headed. Even so, they skimmed the sandy bottom as they headed northeast. Though he might have a bearing, he didn’t have a distance. The galleon might have spread out over acres of the ocean floor. Though Kirk was right about the heavier items. They’d have sunk, settled, and not moved as much.

By the time they were fifty yards away from the cannons, they had gone too far. Mel knew as well as Kirk that the aftcastle originally would have been located behind them. Even as she thought it, apparently so did Kirk. He stopped and circled his finger for them to reverse direction. He shifted over several yards, checked his dive compass, and started off. Halfway back, Mel put out a hand and touched Kirk on the shoulder.

He jerked in surprise and was about to flash the “okay?” sign but she was already signaling that. With her other hand, she pointed down behind them. A single straight line in the otherwise gently undulating sand. About six inches long, it was almost indiscernible, only half an inch high at most, its shadow hardly more than a dimple.

But there were precious few straight lines in nature and a straight line demanded to be investigated. Although she pointed, Kirk still didn’t see it. Though he was less than a yard away from her, his angle on it wasn’t quite right. She’d only seen it for a fleeting second.

Mel backtracked, came down low, and fanned the sand away with a few quick waves of her hand. As the fine particulates swirled and billowed and then drifted away, something silver glinted.

Oh my god
, Mel thought.
It can’t be!

As Mel reached down for it, she realized her hand was trembling. Only half of it protruded from the surrounding darker sediment. Mel tugged lightly and the rest came free as a small puff of sand rose up behind it. A silver bar, about a foot long, covered with marks.

An ingot from the motherlode!

In moments, Kirk had one as well!

They simply stared at them and then at each other. Blood pounded in her ears and, as her heart threatened to explode, she suddenly removed her regulator.

“Aaaaaaaaah!” she screamed, as a mass of bubbles accompanied the muted shout of triumph and she shook the silver bar.

Kirk nodded and gave the okay sign and then checked his watch. She knew what was coming next. Thumbs up. The dive was over. For once, she was ready. With two silver bars marked by the assayer and whoever had owned them, it was time to pull out the ship manifests of the 1605 Gold Fleet.

After a safety stop at ten feet, they broke the surface.

Mel immediately took out her regulator, as did Kirk.

“The motherlode!” she screamed. “You did it!”

“We did it!” Kirk said, grinning wildly. “Now where are those manifests?”

In minutes they were back at the boat. As they had on the day they’d found the ruby-encrusted cross, they stripped their gear in record time, leaving it in a trail behind them. Mel ran for her room, grabbed the duffle bag, and yanked the zipper down. She clutched the manila envelope, thick with xerox copies, and ran to the dining room where Kirk had already found the magnifying glass.
