(8th cent. CE). Buddhist poet and adherent of the Pr sa gika branch of the M dhyamaka school. He composed two important works, the ‘Compendium of Discipline’ ( ik -samuccaya ), and ‘Entering the Path of Enlightenment’ ( Bodhic ry vat ra ). In ‘Entering the Path’, ntideva describes the various steps to be taken by one pursuing the bodhisattva path to enlightenment from the production of the thought of enlightenment ( bodhicitta ) through the practice of the Perfections ( p ramit s ) to full enlightenment.
