. The last years of his short life were spent wandering the length and breadth of India proclaiming the philosophy of Advaita Ved
nta and taking on all rivals in debate. This period is called the ‘Tour of Victory’ (
digvijaya
), during which

kara defeated Ma
ana Mi
ra and many other worthy proponents of rival schools of religious philosophy, including Buddhists, Jains, and various sectarian
aivas.
One of the most widely accepted accounts of the end of his life is that at the age of 32 he left Ked
rn
th in the Him
layas travelling northward toward Mount Kail
sa, the abode of
iva
, and was seen no more.
