. Mannheimer served as leader of Reform Jewish communities in Copenhagen, Berlin, Leipzig, and Vienna. In contrast to the move of some congregations to other languages, his prayers continued to be in Hebrew, the prayer for

book. He also worked for Jewish civil liberties, and, as an elected member of the Reichstag, he succeeded in abolishing the ‘Jews' Tax’.
