He did as he was told.

“Back away from the body Colonel,” Wolf told him, who was reaching for a weapon. Sarah watched with resounding interest.

The Colonel took a step back as he knocked the guard out with the pistol who was now lying unconscious on the ground. He then pointed his gun at the Colonel who slowly raised his hands into the air.

“So you are working with this other guy,” Dickens said.

“No and I’m under orders not to interfere in Earth’s affairs,” he told him as he inched his way over to Sarah.

“You really had me convinced. Are you going to shoot me now?” the Colonel said.

“Don't you ever get tired of being a jerk? Besides I don’t enjoy killing people Colonel. Now where is that device you took from me when I was first captured?” he asked.

The Colonel reached into his pocket and pulled out a small rectangular object that looked like a cell phone and tossed it to me.

“You really had it this whole time,” Wolf smirked.

“How far do you think you’ll get mister? This base is a highly secure complex with a lot guards. They’ll shoot you on sight,” he tried warning him.

“Not if I shoot them first,” Wolf smiled and then pressed a button on his device that activated his spacecraft that was now on its way here. He then walked over to Sarah and gently picked her up. She surprisingly wrapped her arms around him knowing that he was the only one who would protect her.

“Now open the door,” he commanded.

The Colonel walked over to the keypad and punched in the code and used the retinal scanner to open the door.

“Thank you,” Wolf said and shot him the leg. He yelled as he hit the floor. “That was for Sarah.”

He then left the room with his pistol ready to shoot. Sarah was right behind him and. They were now in a long hallway that seemed to stretch for several yards. Crates of metal boxes were stacked up against the wall.

“Are you ready?” he asked Sarah.

“Yeah, let’s get out of here,” she nodded.

Suddenly, three guards appeared from the adjoining hallway ahead of them as they made their way to the elevator. They ducked behind some crates as the guards opened fire. Wolf returned fire and was quickly able to take out two of them. The third took a little more time but Wolf was able to get a shot off before the guard went down.

They continued down the hall until they reached the adjoining hallway that only turned right. Wolf peered around the corner and saw the elevator guarded by four more guards. Seeing they had bullet proof vests, he had to be accurate in his shooting. Not wanting to kill them he turned the corner and pulled the trigger before they could react and aimed for their legs using multiple shots. They quickly lost their balance and fell.

Making their way to the elevator Wolf looked at his hand held device and noticed that his ship was approaching the base. When they got to the elevator door he pressed the button that would open the doors. When they did, they stepped in and Wolf pressed another button that would take them to the surface.

“What is that thing?” Sarah asked referring to the device he was carrying. He hadn’t told her what it was yet. He guessed this was a good time as any.

“It’s a remote control for my ship. When I activated it, it sent out a homing beacon to come to my location. It will be here any minute,” he explained.

“Where are we going?” she asked.

“Back to my home planet in the Andromeda system. It’s not safe for us to stay here on Earth right now. They’ll be looking for us,” he told her as the elevator ascended to the top.

“What about that guy in San Francisco who is reeking havoc? I thought you said you could stop him,” Sarah said.

“I can but not without my suit which I didn’t bring with me,” he said finally deciding that if no one on Earth could stop him then he would take the responsibility himself and go against the wishes of the Oracle.

When the door finally opened they found themselves in the hangar staring at his ship along with a dozens guards who were already on the ground knocked out cold. The ship had made a large hole in the roof of the building.

At one end of the ship a portion of the surface seemed to materialize into a ramp leaving an entrance for them to enter. They quickly made their way into the ship and Wolf took his seat in front of the console that was used to pilot it. He pressed a button on the console that raised another seat from the floor.

“Have a seat and hang on,” he told Sarah who seemed mesmerized by the interior of ship. It looked so alien to her as if she had never anything like it before.

Grabbing the controls, Wolf lifted the ship straight up into the air and was soon out of Earth’s orbit. A wormhole, which he activated on the console in front of him, was now visible in front of the view screen. He then guided the craft into the wormhole setting a course back home to Andromeda.

Chapter 13

It felt good to be home.

When Jonathan’s ship exited hyperspace, dozens of other ships could be seen leaving and entering the atmosphere as he guided the ship towards the huge planet of Mirach.

“Incredible,” he heard Sarah say from behind him. Her recent change in her attitude finally left a smile on his face. She was no longer the stubborn, grumpy woman he was with back at the base on Earth.

“Welcome to Mirach,” he said.

Jonathan flew his ship towards a large hovering landing platform that resembled the space needle back on Earth and gently landed on it. When the ramp finally descended they disembarked.

“It’s so beautiful here,” she noticed looking around.

“That’s because there is no pollution for one thing.  This galaxy hasn’t used fossil fuels in over three thousand years. That’s how advanced this civilization is compared to Earth,” he explained to her as she followed him over to a glass tube with a rounded opening on the side of it.

“What about crime?”

“That is almost non existent now. When our races, in this solar system and those adjoining like mine, began to evolve, we stopped being greedy, corrupt and naïve,” he explained as they entered the tube. Then like a scene out of Star Trek, they vanished and suddenly reappeared in front of hallway with exotic plants sitting next to the walls and underneath their feet laid a glass floor with water underneath that revealed sea animals not unlike the ones on Earth.

“There are dolphins living here?” Wolf heard Sarah ask pointing to the familiar species she recognized.

“They didn’t originate on Earth. They’re highly intelligent creatures and they’re my friends,” he smiled as they walked into the main living area which looked both very modern and futuristic.

“Is this your home?” she asked him.

“Yes. I’ve been living here for the past few years since I left my home planet of Vega,” he answered.

“Where are your parents?” she asked.

“They died during the war back on my home planet.”

There was a water fountain in the center surrounded by exotic sofas for lounging. Off to the right was a bar with a large window that looked out to the city where flying ships were passing by. To the left were two rooms. One was Wolf’s room and the other was reserved for guest who stayed over. Straight ahead past the fountain was a communication center with a huge holographic screen and a control panel.

Wolf walked over to it and started pressing a few buttons.

“What are you doing?” Sarah asked.

“Contacting my friend who used to live here with me. He moved away some time ago to be on his own. He has what I need to stop that maniac, Shadowgate, back on Earth,” he told her.

A few seconds later a familiar and friendly face appeared on the large monitor in front of him. He had dark curly hair. It was his friend, Peter.

“Hello Peter,” Wolf smiled.

“Jonathan? Wow! It’s good to see you buddy. Did you just return from your mission on Earth?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Wolf answered.

Then Peter looked over at Sarah and said, “Who is that with you?”

“This is Sarah Langston from the planet Earth,” answered his friend.

“Wait. Earth? You brought back a human female from Earth?” he asked as if the obvious suddenly dawned on him.

“Yeah but…” Wolf began.

“You know what the Oracle told you. You weren’t to get involved with any females from Earth. Or have you forgotten that?”

“I know what you’re thinking but it happened unexpectedly. Trust me.”

“Well, I won’t say anything. I’ve always found Earth females very attractive anyways,” he grinned. “I just hope the council doesn’t find out. Now what may I ask are you doing back?”

“I need the Silverwolf suit,” he said.

Peter’s grinned faded. “Why?”

“Something terrible has happened on Earth and I feel I’m the only one who can do anything about it. The humans don’t stand a chance against this thing unless they nuke it and I’m not about to let that happen,” he told him.

“You know the rules Jonathan. No direct intervention with an evolving race. You’ve already broken one rule while staying there. The Oracle would never allow it,” Peter warned him.

“Who says she has to know. You still have it right?”

“Yeah, of course. You asked me to keep it while you left for Earth. I designed it for you. Remember?”

“Yeah of course I do. Can you meet us at the Pelican tonight?”

“Sure and I’ll bring the suit with me.”

“Thanks. I’ll see you then,” Wolf said and terminated the video call.

“What is the Silverwolf suit?” Sarah asked with curiosity on her face.

Wolf turned to her and gave her an explanation by saying, “It’s a suit I asked Peter to make for me in the war against the Draconan Empire. It’s made of pure nanotechnology. Something your scientists are just beginning to discover. Well we’ve nearly perfected the technology. When I put the suit on I become Silverwolf. We haven’t fully tested it yet though.”

“What happened?” she asked.

“On my planet, just before Peter and I escaped, we were losing the war because the Draconans had technology that was superior to our own in many respects. That’s when Peter and I decided to design a suit that could tip the balance of the war in our favor. However we never got to use it.”

“Why?”

“It was so advanced we had to make sure we kept it from falling into the wrong hands. So Peter and I decided to keep it secret and wait for the right time to use it. Then as time went on our lives became so busy we never had time to test it like we planned.”

“So when you do put it on how will you prevent other people from stealing and using it as well?”

“Peter put in a safety protocol that would allow only me to wear the suit based on my DNA code. If the DNA didn’t match you couldn’t wear the suit,” he explained to her.

“You mentioned the Draconan Empire. Who are they?” she asked.

I pulled out a small metal disc that revealed a holographic image of the species in front of me.

“They’re a reptilian race of highly intelligent creatures; twice as large and as a strong as humans. No one knows where they came from exactly but they believe they’re the dominant species above all others which is why no one likes them,” he said.

“Then why did you come to Earth if there’s a war going on here?”

“We strongly believe your kind has great potential to evolve both spiritually and technologically so you can defend yourself against this malevolent race and help us but sadly there are few things that are holding you back. I was sent to Earth to observe your progress and noticed that your different cultures, religions, governments and the need to wage war against each other is what’s holding you back. Some of us have contacted different people on Earth to help awaken them to the truth about yourselves and the fact that you’re not alone in the universe.”

“I will admit. We do have our problems.”

“I’m afraid that if you do not evolve soon as a planet the Draconans will soon invade and conquer it. And believe me you don’t want that to happen. I’ve seen planets similar to yours fall under Draconan rule such as Peter’s and mine. It’s like living in hell where you’re better off dead than alive.”

“What do they do?” she asked.

“They treat you like slaves but far worse than what you’ve seen your own kind do on Earth. You know what it’s like in North Korea and Burma?”

Sarah nodded her head.

“Well it’s five times as bad as that.

“Jesus.”

“There’s more but I don’t want to scare you with the details. Let’s just relax while I take care of some stuff before we go. Why don’t you go take a shower and lie down in the guest room for awhile? There’s a change of clothes in there as well. I’ll wake you when it’s time to leave.”

She nodded her head in agreement and said, “Thanks.”

“Let me know if you need anything,” he said telling she was exhausted as she walked into the guest room as the door closed behind her.
