“I can do both you know.” Gio said.
“Please don’t, your voice is getting on my last nerve.” Indy replied making him laugh again.

In the backseat Sera smiled at Giuseppe as they listened to the playful banter between Gio and India.
“Are you two okay back there?” Indy asked glancing over her shoulder at them.
“Yes dear we’re fine.” Sera said.

Before Indy could respond Gio swerved the vehicle to miss a pothole in the road. She looked at him through narrowed eyes when she realized he been eyeing her legs and not the road.

“Are you paying attention to the road?” She asked.

“Of course I’m paying attention to the road I swerved to miss a pothole.” Gio lied.

“Oh so you swerved to miss one pothole and drove right into the rest of them, that was smart of you. Hey here’s an idea why don’t we go back so you can drive over the one you missed there’s no point leaving that one out.”

“Gattino if you don’t be quiet I’ll stop this car and threw you in the trunk.”
She was about to say something else when she realized that he was serious.
“Fine, I’ll be quiet.”

In the backseat Giuseppe and Serafina barely contain their laughter as they watched and listened to Gio and India those two were definitely entertaining. A few minutes later they arrived at the hospital as did Gabe and the others who’d been following Gio. By the time they got inside Gigi had been taken to a room and Pierce was at her side. Just over an hour later Pierce came out to the waiting area.

“It’s a boy, we have a son.” He said excitedly.

“How is Gigi doing?” Indy asked.

“Gigi is wonderful she’s a little tired but she’s fine, we have a private room so everyone can come in and see her for a minute but she has to rest.”

They followed Pierce to Gigi’s hospital room and gathered around the bed. She smiled up at everyone. “I’m so sorry we had to rush the wedding, I didn’t even get a chance to enjoy the ceremony.”

“We’ll get over it, when are they bringing the baby back?” Indy asked.

“He should be back any minute now. He is so beautiful.” Pierce said sounding like a proud father. Just then the nurse brought the baby back to Gigi, placing him in her arms. When she reached up to accept the baby the sleeve of the hospital gown slid up and the bruise on her arm was quite visible.

Sera gasped, Giuseppe’s eyes narrowed to slits. “Pierce I want to see you in the hall.”
Pierce sighed loudly then leaned over to kiss Gigi on the forehead. “Caro I’ll be right back.”
“Okay.” She said looking worried.

In the hall just outside Gigi’s room Giuseppe calmly questioned Pierce about the bruise on Gigi’s arm. “Why is there an ugly bruise on my daughter-in-law?”

“She had some trouble from a guy at the Inn.” Pierce said.
“Where is this guy now?”Giuseppe asked.
“We took care of it Papa he won’t be bothering her again I promise.”
“With a bruise like that he better not be able to bother anyone ever again.” Giuseppe replied.
“He won’t trust me.” Pierce told his father.

“I do son, I do. Now let’s go get a look at this son of yours.” Giuseppe said putting his arm around Pierce’s shoulder as they went back inside Gigi’s room.

Everyone gushed over the baby looking at his silky raven black hair, his chubby little cheeks and his soft pale olive brown skin. When he opened his eyes they were the same grey as his father and grandmothers.

It was a couple hours later before the rest of the family left them alone, Pierce would be staying at the hospital with his wife and baby. His wife and baby he would never get tired of saying that. For the first time in his adult life he was truly happy he was in love with his wife and he was the father of a son.

“I love you Caro, so very much.”
“I know you do, I love you too sunshine. Do you know why I call you sunshine Pierce?”
“No not really.”

“Because the day we met you brought sunshine into my heart. Until that day it had been covered in darkness. But you banished that darkness like sunshine on a rainy day. That’s why you are my sunshine.”

He kissed her softly on the lips. “Oh Caro nothing is more important to me then you and our son which by the way we haven’t named yet.”

“I was thinking something like ‘Dante Landry Fabrizio’ how does that sound?” Gigi asked.
Pierce thought about for a minute. “You want to give him my middle name, but how did you find out what my middle name is?”
‘”It was in our baby contract, remember?” Gigi replied with a laugh.
“Oh yeah the baby contract, well I guess we won’t be needing that anymore.”

“The hell we won’t, that contract says that I can’t divorce you and you can’t divorce me so we’ll be keeping that agreement. And don’t even think about breaching our contract unless you want to come up missing.” Gigi said with a teasingly, serious expression.

He slipped into the hospital bed beside her as she held their son in her arms. “I wouldn’t dream of it Caro.”
