Tears pricked the corner of my eyes. This was the best conversation I had ever had with my mother, and it was in the lobby of the University of Washington Medical Center. “Enough of that. I’d like to show my face here in the future.”

“Oh, Kitty! You worry too much what people think.”

I gave her a sardonic look, and she winked back at me.

“Mom, how would you like to have dinner with Adam and me one night this week?” I asked.

Her eyes lit up. “I can’t think of anything I would rather do.”

“How about I call you?”

“Sounds perfect. I’ll be looking forward to your call.”

I smiled and started to turn away. “We’ll talk soon, Mom.”

She nodded and gave a little wave as I walked away. When I turned back once I reached the doors, she was still watching me leave. I realized the feeling I felt right then was what a mother’s love felt like. There was nothing in the world like it.

Strong arms wrapped around me while warm lips descended on my neck. “You all right?” Maverick’s deep voice asked quietly in my ear.

“I’m better than all right. I’m amazing,” I told him, repeating the word my mother used to describe me. The best part? This time, even I believed it.

Acknowledgements

This is the first book I have written as a mommy, so it was definitely a group effort.

As always I’m so grateful for my real-life friends, Sarah Cosey and Karla Reed, for reading and finding all my minor mistakes and odd little nuances that sneak into my writing. If it weren’t for you, all of my characters would sound like southern girls no matter where they are from or their gender.

Big hugs to my e-friends and Beta readers who I have “met” through twitter, Ryan Ringbloom, Lisa Wilson, Mia Rivers, and Kristen Luciani for your encouraging words of romance wisdom. There is nothing like the perspective of some who loves this genre as much as we do.

This is my second book with Limitless Publishing and the team I have behind me is amazing, especially Rachel and Lori. Rachel—thank you for finding the little details that needed attention. Lori—you have been a huge help with this whole process from day one. You ladies are wonderful!

Debra with The Book Enthusiast Promotions makes all my marketing dreams come true and saves me hours of hard labor connecting with bloggers. I appreciate all the blogs that participate in events and promote my books, but I wouldn’t even know who they were if it weren’t for Debra.

Finally, I am so grateful to every reader who picks up one of my books. Each story brings more friends into my life, and I love that people across the world are connecting with me through my writing. If you enjoyed this book, take a moment to leave a review or send me your thoughts. I love sharing my imaginary friends with you, so please let me know what you think.
