The question verified that she was being ridiculous. Zar wasn’t mad at her. She was simply feeling sorry for herself. Blaze nodded.

“Okay, are you feeling anything?”

She nodded again, the feeling of oncoming tears fading slightly.

“Is it painful?”

Blaze shook her head but was still hesitant to speak. She didn’t want to begin crying hysterically, and she wasn’t totally sure that she had her emotions in check.

“So it just doesn’t feel as good as usual?”

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

“For what? For snarling at me because I’m irritating you, or because it doesn’t feel like you expected? Either way, there’s nothing to be sorry for.”

“At this moment I feel bad for snapping at you. I just feel like I’m constantly fighting this battle not to be frustrated with everything. I want my body back, and I keep reminding myself that you understand this. It doesn’t help when you’re trying your best to turn me on and it’s not really working.”

“Do you want to stop?”

“No,” she replied with desperation in her voice. “I’ve been craving sex since I woke up. What we had before was wonderful, and I want to feel that again. Please tell me that I will.”

Zar smiled. “Of course you will. You just have to give it a little time, Blaze.”

“I feel as if I do nothing but give everything time.”

“I remember that feeling. It will come, Blaze. Stop being so hard on yourself.”

Blaze sighed. She knew that he was right, but it didn’t make things any easier. She remembered how irritating it was when David was in a mood to feel sorry for himself. Now she was doing the same thing to Zar. She was tempted to apologize again, but that was equally exasperating. “I swear that you are the sweetest man on the face of the earth. Can we try this again?”

Zar chuckled at the timid way in which she asked the question. “I think we could do that.” Zar helped her straighten her legs so that they were on the bed to either side of his hips. He was tempted to ask if the position was comfortable, but stopped himself. Instead, he grabbed the straps to either side of her shoulders and pulled her forward. Tracing her mouth with his tongue, he engaged her in a kiss that was returned with lusty need. Her fingers trailed over the muscles of his arms, the touch arousing. Her reservations were making him question himself, and Zar leaned back slightly to look at her. “Give me a clue what you would like me to do here?”

“I was kind of leaving that up to you because I don’t know how your hip feels.”

Zar glared at her, rolling his eyes. “Let me worry about my hip. Do you want me to go back to trying to eat you, or do you want to have sex?”

The man had the patience of a saint, but his patience was obviously growing short. Blaze wanted to apologize again for stressing him out, but she stopped herself. “Can we try sex? I am thinking that I need the complete distraction of your dick inside me to make this work.” No sooner had the comment left her mouth that she noticed that Zar’s cock was completely not aroused. Obviously their conversation had done nothing for his dick. “Shit! I’m sorry. I totally fucked up your mood, didn’t I?”

“A little. I think we can remedy that fairly easily.” He gave her a sexy smile and a wiggle of his eyebrows before drawing her back into a kiss.

Zar had one hand in her hair, and Blaze felt his other arm moving against her thigh. She wanted to help him but figured it was easier to let him do it himself. It was obviously a wise choice when only moments later his fingers ran up through the crease of her pussy. He gently swung her lower body toward himself, slowly filling her with the hard feel of his dick. The stretching of her taut muscles supplied Blaze with the sensation that she was looking for. Her pussy began to tingle, twitching with each thrust of his dick. A soft moan escaped her open lips, and Blaze drove her fingers into his hair.

Zar stroked her cheek, and she opened her eyes look at him. “I presume that feels good?” he asked with a smile.

Blaze giggled and nodded her head. “More importantly I feel it.” She wiggled her eyebrows, a habit that she had picked up from him. “Oh, it feels amazing.” Zar was, however, being extremely gentle with his movements. “Are you moving slowly because it’s hurting you or because you’re afraid that you’ll hurt me?”

“A little of both.”

She tried to move her legs upward to his sides but didn’t quite have the strength to accomplish it. “Help me bend my legs. If I can get a bit of traction, I can bounce the swing. You can also do it with your hands.”

Zar rolled his eyes, shaking his head in self-reprimanding stupidity. “I have no idea why didn’t think of that.” He helped her shift her legs upward and then grabbed the straps supporting her upper body. As Blaze had suggested, he began to bounce her, the motion having a surprising effect.

Blaze chuckled at the stunned expression on his face. She recognized it because David had the same reaction when they had first gotten the swing. From what David had told her, the movement supplied a completely different sensation than the normal up-and-down thrust. “What’s the matter, Zar?”

“Absolutely nothing! Holy shit, this feels wild. I have no idea how to describe it but…the bounce kind of does up-and-down, side-to-side and back-and-forth all the same time. I like this thing.” He released her, dropping back flat on the bed.

Blaze chuckled and continued the movement. The expression on Zar’s face was humorous. His eyes were half-lidded, and he almost appeared stoned. Blaze completely understood the sensation, the fluctuating friction of his dick inside her pussy taking her quickly toward climax. Her muscles were pulsating and grabbing his hard cock. She was breathing through her open mouth, and the final spasm hit with such intensity that Blaze slammed her teeth together, grinding them as her body imploded around him. She could feel his dick pulsing within her and, in a distant place in her mind, heard him groaning in pleasure. Her muscles clamped with such ferocity that she began to shiver uncontrollably, mewling cries leaking through her clenched teeth.

Zar sat up grabbing for her, panic in his eyes.

Blaze shook her head. “I’m fine!” She spoke the words but couldn’t stop herself from quivering.

Zar seemed to relax slightly as he continued to stare at her.

She felt bad for scaring him but couldn’t help but giggle as her body started to relax. “Holy shit. Where the hell did that come from? That was the most intense climax I have ever had.”

He frowned in obvious dismay. “Is that what that was? I thought that you were having a seizure. I felt your climax, but your whole body was shaking.”

“I don’t think so. Seizures don’t feel that fantastic. It just hit so hard that I don’t know…I started shaking. It didn’t hurt or anything.” Blaze wiggled her hips, an ache already arising in her pussy. “The worst part is…I want to do it again.” A cheeky smile bloomed on her face in response to Zar shaking his head. “Thank you for being so patient with me. I really enjoyed that.”

Nan stuck her head around the corner and then quickly moved back out into the hall. “Oops,” she said from around the corner. “I just wanted to let you know I was here. Choey didn’t bark or make a fuss. Is she all right?”

“I think so. She was fine a little while ago.”

The comment instantly ruined the mood. Zar stood, giving her a quick kiss before helping her out of the swing and into the wheelchair. Blaze tugged her robe around her shoulders as Zar slipped his onto himself. He quickly pushed her out into the living room. Choey looked up at them and thumped her tail. Zar got closer and knelt down in front of her. “Hey, sweet girl. Are you all right?”

Choey let out a high-pitched
baroo
and rolled to her back, wiggling to be petted. “Does this mean she is okay?”

“Yes. She gets bummed out sometimes. I think she misses David, and changes in the house always bother her, and so does the swing.”

Zar cuddled with her, rubbing her belly as he rubbed his hair against her face. Choey let out a range of moans and groans, thoroughly enjoying the attention. Moosey watched for a few moments and then hopped down from the sofa and up into the loveseat. He slapped Choey with his paw, getting a response from her. Zar moved out of the way as the two began to play wrestle with each other. “Damn, they are jealous. Aren’t they?”

“Yes, just watch them, and if it gets too serious, break them up by throwing a blanket over them. I’ve ended up with bruises from unintended bites when I leapt between them. I think it was Choey, and she immediately let go of my arm. She didn’t break the skin, but I had a wicked mark.”

“How do you know when they are serious?”

“Listen to them, and look at them. They are giving and taking. Moosey is going up on his hind legs, and she is returning the gesture. When they go down with their front legs and put their chest to the floor that is playing. It’s called a play bow and is a request for more. When he pins her to the floor, he is not hurting her. They are making play noises. If it intensifies into something real, you will hear it in their snarls. They will get kind of higher pitched, and then they will go at each other in a serious way.”

“I’ve been around for a while, and I’ve never seen that happen.”

“Moosey, let her up,” Blaze snapped. “Knock on wood. Those episodes are rare. They used to happen more when Choey was younger. They have mellowed a bit as they got older.”

Nan came up the stairs and watched the dogs for a moment. “We brought all of my stuff in through the cellar hatch. I’m pretty well settled back in. I have the sound panels downstairs. Could I borrow a few of your people to install them, Zar? I love the new furniture, by the way.”

Blaze watched as the fight came to an end, and both dogs returned to their chosen seats. Nan said, “Well, good night, you two. I’m going to bed. You might want to turn the heat on. We are supposed to get a good cold snap tonight. They are saying the low could be thirty-five. What a switch in the weather that is.”

The comment made Zar cringe. The cold was never kind to his hip.

Chapter 16

The cold weather came on at a furious pace, wiping out summer and plunging them into fall. Zar seemed to get stiffer every day. Blaze continued to get stronger as he got weaker. As he had told her, he would use a shot and be fine for a week or two, and then the pain would return.

They fell into a life of routine, with Zar going to check or consult on various job sites while she worked on her books. She had fallen behind with the accident, and her editor was pushing her for more. She sent out two more in the series and then sent her
Star
.
Star
was promptly returned with a note to tone it down. Zar came home that evening to find her in a sullen mood. “What’s wrong?”

“Gina doesn’t like
Star
. She sent me this note.”

Zar took the paper and read it.

Dear, Blaze. I’m glad that you are back into writing. I’m sorry, but I feel that you have gone over the deep sexual end on this one. Having her make love to her husband’s twin was somewhat out there. You can get away with it because her husband condoned it before his apparent death. Now her husband is back and having her in bed with both of them at the same time is too much for the current market. You have gone from very spicy romance to sexual deviance. I’m sorry, but I can’t handle this book unless you make some major changes. Find another way to make things happen. A family threesome doesn’t wash. You have crossed too many boundaries with dual sexual penetration.

When he set the note down, Blaze groaned. “I don’t have anything else written to send her. I lost so much time when I was unable to type. I can’t think of how to change it. I want the three of them to have a relationship. It’s important to the tale. At the end of the last book they shared her, and it was not a problem.”

Zar stiffly sat down across from her. “The problem is that the two men are having sex with her at once. Can’t you change just that point?”

“I suppose, but I don’t want to. It is one more step in their actions and takes their togetherness to a new level. I don’t mean to be crabby with you. I’m sorry.”

“I know. How about I go out and get some wood and build us a nice fire. We can sit, have a bottle of champagne, and watch the flames. Nan is babysitting for my brother and won’t be home until late. You can read me the sexual deviance and see if I like it.”

Blaze smiled, getting up to kiss him. “How was your day?”

“It was crappy. We are not getting the job done on schedule, and the cold weather isn’t helping. We need a few warm days to do some good work. They want it done by Thanksgiving, and I’m thinking more like Christmas.”

“What are we doing for Thanksgiving?”

“How about a nice stay-home dinner with family? I would love a stuffed turkey with sweet potatoes and all the fixings.”

“I think I could arrange that. Who am I feeding?”

“Whoever you care to invite. How about some dinner? I’ll get the fire going.”

Blaze got up to check on the ziti in the oven and put some vegetables on to cook. When Zar returned, his hair was sparkling. “Well, they have been calling for snow all day. It has finally arrived. Just what I wanted.”

She took the wood from his arms, and he went back out for more. By the third trip, the wood grate was filled for a warm night, and Zar was limping. Blaze asked the obvious question. “Is your hip bothering you?”
