Things were definitely not going smoothly. At this point, he was pretty sure Liam despised his other job. And what was he supposed to do? It paid the bills and was far from horrible. Got his ego up every now and then. The one thing that did sadden him though, was the fact that it was going so well in comparison to the hotel. He put his soul into this place, to create a safe, fun environment for kinksters and it was like slamming his wheelchair against the wall all the time. In comparison, he didn’t do much apart from adding content from time to time and
Ryan Hot Wheels
was booming with people wanting in on some para-action. Quitting a site like that just wasn’t an option at the moment.

His train of thought was stopped, when he arrived at the ground floor and heard someone arguing by the reception desk. Ryan sighed when he noticed it was their beloved neighbor.

“Did you even have a permit for that?” Roger sounded distressed. “I wanna see it!”

“Hi there, Roger. Is there a problem?” Ryan quickly wheeled over to the reception area. Rodney slouched in relief and rolled his eyes behind the man’s back.

“Yes, there is.” Roger folded his arms, assuming an assertive position, with his legs slightly spread out, as if to signify that he would stand his ground. He told Ryan once that he attended courses where they taught shit like that. “You had a bunch of drunk men here, making a bonfire near my property!”

“No, no Roger! It was all blocked off with rocks, it was all very safe!” Ryan assured him, though there was nothing true about what he was saying. It was all spontaneous.

“Still, shouldn’t you have a permit for something so hazardous? And who were those people anyway?” Roger furrowed his eyebrows all red-faced.

“Hotel guests. It is my private part of the beach you know.” The last thing Ryan needed today was Roger’s whining.

“Well, it could have spread to my part of the beach!”

“But it didn’t. I told you it was secured with rocks. Come on Roger, give it a rest. Was it really such a problem?” Ryan was too frustrated for the usual sugar-coating.

“Yes, it had me worried, I had guests over,” Roger complained, averting his eyes from Ryan.

“Really? You only had light on in one window.”

Roger’s face tensed for a brief moment, but it was barely noticeable. “That’s none of your business. Just stop making such a commotion around the hotel,” he barked and stormed out of the lobby.

“Seriously. What is his problem!?” Ryan yelled to Rodney, as soon as the man was out of sight.

Rod sighed, rolling his eyes. “Just an asshole.”

Ryan turned his wheelchair towards the reception desk. “Could you do something for me? Google other hotels of this type for me and make a list I can look through. Maybe I’ll get some new ideas. We need customers like that porn crew all the time.”

Rodney bit his lip and nodded. “Sure, around the area? Nationwide?”

“Worldwide. All the Japanese ones too. Just for inspiration. I’ll see what they do and stuff.”

Rodney dropped to his seat behind the reception desk. “This missing girls thing isn’t helping business either,” he muttered and started to type.

“Rod, I don’t need any more shit today. Just send me a link or whatever.” He sighed and chose Liam's number on his phone. Having to do it now, after the quarrel they had, was like yet another turd on a pile of shittiness. The call was answered within seconds.

“Yep?”

“Can you take me to my room? I need to get some work done.”

“Sure, where are you? The office?”

“No, by the reception. See you.” He ended the call and pouted at the screen, where Liam's name still lingered. He turned his head toward the reception desk when Rodney cleared his throat. From Ryan’s position, only the man’s hair was visible though.

He wheeled away a bit, to be able to actually look into his face. “What’s up?”

Rodney must had been waiting for that since he got up with the speed of a rocket. “What’s up with you and Liam?”

“Uhm... what? What do you mean?” Ryan was dumbstruck.

Rodney’s brows went up to his hairline. “You like him. Does he know?”

“Oh my God, no! Does it show?” He put his hands over the bottom half of his face, wincing. If Liam ever found out about his crush, it would end up in a disaster.

Rod gave him a sympathetic look. “Kinda.”

“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.” Ryan frowned, trying to think as fast as possible. “I gotta work on it then.”

“Why didn’t you just, you know...” Rodney’s voice dropped when they heard loud footsteps on the stairs. “Hire someone you weren’t into?”

Ryan sighed and turned to look towards Liam, who was approaching them with a smile. “Pure masochism, Rod.” And he meant it.

Liam looked at the cover picture of
Ryan Hot Wheels
for the hundredth time since he found out about the site. He already acquired a membership and spent several nights looking through the content. It was innocent enough, though it felt ultimately wrong to him that people got off on Ryan doing perfectly normal things. It was disturbing. And some of the chats in the archive made him want to beat up his armchair into a pulp.

On one hand, he knew it was part of Ryan’s job to tease those guys, so they would come back, but thinking that in some sick world Ryan would actually mean the things he said got him all agitated. Liam knew Ryan wasn’t like that. He was as sweet as they came.

All of a sudden, a window popped up stating: ‘Ryan will be on webcam in fifteen minutes! :D <3’

A growl escaped Liam’s lips as he slouched in his armchair, the same one he wanted to unload his anger on, on several occasions since the arrest. His gaze drifted towards the wall separating him from the master bedroom He suddenly ran straight to Ryan’s door and knocked.

“Uhm... what’s up?” Ryan said through the wood.

“May I come in?” he asked innocently, putting both of his hands on the door when he wanted to bang his head against it.

It took a while, and Liam imagined Ryan putting his shirt on when the answer finally came.

“Yeah, okay.”

Liam swallowed and touched his heated forehead with the back of his palm. Ryan shouldn’t be forced to do these things.

“Liam? I said it’s okay. You can come in.”

“Right, sorry.” He let out a strangled breath, but forced a smile upon entering.

Ryan was sitting on his bed in just a white tank top and a pair of grey skinny jeans, with brown medical braces strapped tightly over the fabric on his outstretched legs. “What’s up?” His laptop was open on his bedside cabinet, no doubt ready for filming. Liam licked his lips, slowly entering the room.

“I kinda thought it would be cool to go to the movies,” he said off the top of his head.

“Uhm, okay.” Ryan’s eyes wandered off somewhere. “At eight maybe?”

“How about now?” Liam sent him his most seductive grin. He did not want some sleazy types jerk off all over Ryan doing fucking origami swans, or some shit like that.

“I can’t, I’m busy. Are they playing something cool?” Ryan looked at the clock on his wall. It was built into a stuffed deer head.

Liam’s smile faltered. “I dunno, just wanted to go.” He looked at the computer with a sinking feeling of defeat. And who knew why the fuck Ryan positioned himself on the bed? What if he was planning something more revealing than chatting and manually moving his legs like in the last video?

“Cool, see you at eight? I got some stuff to do.” Ryan’s smile was so unpornlike that Liam felt physically sickened. But he still gave him the briefest nod and let his legs carry him to the room next door, back to the same chair in front of the computer. The walk of fucking shame.

The webcam window opened, revealing a smiling Ryan laying on his side in just his jeans. Liam’s mouth watered against his better judgment. He was being such a creep.

Ryan brushed some hair out of his eyes and winked at the camera. “Hiya! I thought I’d change the scenery a bit, so you can see more. It was hard to position the laptop when I was in the wheelchair.”

Liam bit his lip, hardly believing it was all happening behind the wall. He sighed, looking straight into the screen, into Ryan’s sweet, blue eyes. He couldn’t help, but watch the live conversation in the side window.

TonyPlegic
: ‘Thanks for that Ryan! I really wanted to see you live like that :)’

There were other entries, some more infuriating than others, and Liam moved about in the armchair, toying with the idea to actually show some interest. He couldn’t count on getting a chance with Ryan now, so soon after what happened with Stuart, but he could express it in an anonymous conversation. Slowly, he leaned forward and started typing.

Gladius
: ‘How are you doing?’

As soon as he hit send, Liam felt a wave of embarrassment at the lame line. He was getting old, apparently.

Ryan smiled at the camera, and Liam could feel his heart melt. “I’m good, just really horny, like usual.”

Liam was surprised to hear his own moan, and he clasped a hand over his lips before answering.

Gladius
: ‘Maybe the caretaker could take care of that? ;)’

He felt a stir in his groin at the mere thought. Maybe this would be the way forward? To give sweet Ryan a push into the right direction?

Ryan laughed so loud, Liam could actually hear him from the other room. “I wish!” he bit down on his thumb. “I wanted to show him off to be honest, but he didn’t like the idea of being on camera, so you know guys, I’m not a creep, not gonna secretly film him or something.”

TonyPlegic
: ‘Too bad, you said he was hot. I’d love to see him carry you, Ryan. And everything can be a struggle when you do it on your own.’

What a shithead...
Liam’s lips tightened as he shifted in his chair, scanning the chat. Maybe he should just go in there again? No, he didn’t want to be on camera or make Ryan embarrassed. That wouldn’t be fair.

He shook his head and wrote:

Gladius
: ‘You sure he’s straight?’

GaryT
: ‘Ryan, maybe it could be more comfortable if you turned to your stomach?’

“Sure, Gary, why not.” Ryan smiled and started shifting his torso first. “As to the straightness... It’s been over a month now. Might not seem a lot, but day in, day out, and he’s never made a suggestion, so... yeah. Doesn’t help me from thinking that he’s super hot.” He laughed, moving his stiff legs in the braces in the meanwhile.

Liam’s lips fell open.
Hasn’t made a suggestion
? He was making them all the time!

And with that, he replied as quick as he could:

Gladius
: ‘Maybe he’s worried about having a relationship with his boss. Who wouldn't have fallen for you, Ryan?’

“I know, right?” Ryan wrinkled his nose with a laugh. “I’m super cool and have a lovely round ass. Seriously. what’s wrong with him?” He pushed a pillow under his hips, for a better view of his butt in tight denim. Liam swore Ryan was doing that on purpose, the little tease.

Kirkkk
: ‘You do have a gorgeous ass ;) Wish we could see it bare sometime...’

Liam closed his laptop, practically throwing the chair to the ground as he got up, storming out of the room. He didn’t want to read these things! Right now, he needed to think of a way to tell Ryan he got it all wrong.

Chapter 16

Maybe he should tell Ryan he’s bi? No, that wouldn’t do. Unfair as it was, Liam knew from experience both straight and gay people were wary of those who swung both ways. Plus, he didn’t want to lie again, because that would be a lie, unless dancing with girls and kissing one back in elementary school was enough to change his position on the sexual orientation spectrum.
