Chapter Eight

“Oh!” she gasped as I slipped inside, filling and stretching
her—I worried I was hurting her.

“Shit. You’re so tight. You okay?” I asked with clenched teeth. I
paused for a moment only halfway inside, relishing the feel of her wrapped
intimately around me. Taking a few deep breaths, I tried desperately to control
myself.

“Yes, God, you feel so good, Jonah. Move, please. Move inside me,”
Ella begged.

I eased back with exquisite care. Closing my eyes, I paused, then
gradually thrust into her again, filling her just a little more than before.

“You okay?”

“Yes,” she whimpered as she stared me with those beautiful,
star-filled eyes.

This time, I didn’t take my eyes off her as I pulled back out
almost completely and plunged forward again. She cried out in pure pleasure as
I stilled, enveloped in her warmth.

I pressed further inside her, causing a strangled moan to escape
her throat.

My tantalizing rhythm was slow and methodical. I shifted and moved
my hips but didn’t want to be in a hurry. I wanted to savor every moment inside
her. With each thrust, I sank deeper and deeper until I was inside her to the
hilt.

My forearms were pressed into the bed on either side of her head.
I snaked my hands behind her neck, bracing her and cradling her in my arms. Her
hands grazed my back as her nails dug into my skin. My hips flexed and rolled
against her as my rhythm increased—persistent and merciless.

She spread her legs wider, arching upward and effectively giving
me better access.

She was staring at me intently, as if she thought I was the most
desirable man in the world. I leaned down, framing her face in my hands, and kissed
her lovingly.

“You are finally mine, Ella,” I said as a staccato between
thrusts.

“Yes,” she affirmed with a moan as I began slamming into her with
full force. Sounds of skin slapping against skin echoed through the room.

Not breaking my rhythm, I sat up on my knees and lifted her ass up
slightly. Bringing her legs up to rest on my shoulders and holding her hips, I
continued to slam home—this new position hitting just the right spot to
cause her body to convulse uncontrollably.

My possession obviously took her by surprise. I could feel her
start to tremble as her climax was closing in on her. The thought of coming
inside her made me nearly lose control. I knew with only a few more thrusts, I
was going to be done with.

I slowed my pace and took several deep breaths, determined to make
this all about her. My jaw tensed as I looked into her eyes, which were
infernos burning me up with her gaze.

“Oh, God, Jonah. Keep going. Harder,” she panted.

“Fuck, yeah.” I said between thrusts, picking up the pace just as
she requested.

Her smile of satisfaction was glorious. Throwing my head back, I
slammed my hips into her hard with relentless drives. I lifted until I was
almost completely withdrawn from her and then slammed back inside, sending
shockwaves through my body with just the sight of her face enjoying my every
move.

I came back down, positioning my elbows above her shoulders again,
and increased my pace until I was pounding against her, hard and fast.

“Yes, Jonah. Ahh…”

Her mouth opened again, but I muffled her scream with my lips
pressed to hers in a passionate kiss. Her entire body bowed, writhed, and I
felt her come completely apart beneath me. Just the sound and feel of her
coming did me in.

“Oh—” my groan splintered the air with pure pleasure just as
my own world shattered into a million pieces. Spasm upon spasm rippled through
my body.

I slowed and took a more tender pace as she milked the last of my
release.

I collapsed on top of Ella and rested my head on her shoulder. My
hips twitched, continuing to pump against her in short, jerky motions until I
finally stopped and her harsh breathing rasped against my ear. Her lips grazed
the base of my neck as her breath warmed my skin.

Words failed me as I tried to compose myself and she began to
stroke her fingers through my hair.

“Mmmm…” I mumbled into her neck.

“Yeah…” she mumbled in response.

She trailed her fingers lightly along my back, grazing just the
tips of her fingernails against my skin, causing me to groan with pleasure.

We lay there, sated, for quite a while, enjoying one another’s
embrace.

“Jonah?” Ella chimed, breaking the silence that had lasted almost
twenty minutes. We were lying in my bed, tangled in the sheets, with the smell
of sex and sweat enveloping us. Ella’s head was cradled in my arm as she spoke.
“I don’t know how to explain this, but I’m suddenly feeling very… energetic. I
haven’t felt this good for as long as I can remember.”

I just chuckled at her. Post-sex highs were always so overwhelming
and addictive.

“No, this isn’t a sex high, or whatever you’re calling it. This is
different. I feel this type of
energy
radiating through me.”

Getting a bit frustrated with my nonchalant response, she decided
to push her feelings onto me.

Within moments, I started feeling this spark of energy flowing
through my body, like the buzz of an electrical current taking over my veins.
It was strong and powerful, yet pleasant and non-threatening all in the same
flow.

“What is it?” I whispered, unsure exactly what she was
experiencing. I did know one thing—she had no more pain.

“I don’t know, Jonah. But I like it.”

Chapter One

In life, a happy ending is something you only find in chick
flicks. Yet no matter how often we are left with disappointment and struggle,
we still strive for our happily ever after.

Making love to Jonah felt like it could be my very own happy
ending. A newfound energy was coursing through my veins. I felt like I had a
fire burning inside me—a fire so bright, it was seeping through my pores
and illuminating my path in life.

Was this the normal bliss every woman felt after great sex? It
kind of made me wonder how anyone managed to keep their hands off each other.

This feeling of energy building inside me was not consistent with
peaceful, post-sex bliss. I had expected to feel satisfied, yet fatigued. But
the constant energy flowing through me was just the opposite. I felt
rejuvenated and powerful—like I was finally ready to take on the world
and all the obstacles it threw my way.

With the shutters open wide, the morning light bathed our naked
bodies in a blanket of warmth. Settling in the crook of Jonah’s arm, I looked
down at our bare legs tangled together—the mess of sheets were bundled at
the very bottom of the bed and threatened to tumble to the ground.

Jonah’s heart sang to me as I pressed my ear to his chest. The
rhythm that pulsed against my cheek brought comfort to the unknown hurdles of
our future.

I need you to open
your eyes, Jonah. I need you to look into mine. I need you to look at me.

Projecting to him rather than talking out loud just seemed more
natural now, as if it gave me confidence and full control over my current
situation. I propped my chin on my hand and laid it on his chest, waiting for
him to respond to my request.

Open.

On cue, he opened his eyes and looked directly into mine. It was
as if he knew exactly where I was long before he managed to lift his lazy lids.
His post-coital smile was infectious.

“My dreams never did you justice, Ella. The vibrancy in your
beautiful eyes is simply breathtaking,” Jonah whispered as he brushed a stray
strand of hair from my face.

“Are you still in pain?” I asked. I had no idea how or why, but
all the muscle pain and fatigue from my seizure the day before was completely
gone. Settling back onto his chest, I held my hand up against his and entwined
our fingers.

“I haven’t felt a lick of pain since you pushed those feelings on
me.”

“Is this normal for Soul Seers? Does a sexual connection between
two of us heal and energize?” I had to find some sort of explanation for the
energy arising through my blood—our blood.

Jonah shrugged. “I have no idea. You want to know something else
strange?”

“As if all these feelings aren’t strange enough? Sure.” His
fingers were soft.

“I can hear the old man’s thoughts next door as he checks out
those chicks in the yard behind his house.”

Realizing what this meant, I popped my head up and looked at him
with surprise.

After watching a little television and grabbing a bite to eat, we
stopped by the studio so Jonah could check on things. As soon as we walked in
the door, I could feel her.

“I was wondering when you two would show,” a voice said from
behind me. Startled, I spun around and saw Jesse standing in the doorway we
just came through.

“Eve, wha—”

“Shhh, don’t talk,” she said, cutting Jonah off and darting her
eyes toward the nearest room, as if she were motioning for us to follow her.
The fact she was blocking us worried me and definitely made me leery of going
into a dark room with her.

“Ella, I’ll go talk to her. You can stay out here… start a project
or something,” Jonah arrogantly instructed.

“The hell I will,” I said rather loudly. A few students who were
working on their projects in the main room turned their attention to us.
Lowering my voice, I sternly said, “I need to talk with her just as much as you
do, Jonah.”

Stop bickering. Both
of you get your asses in here
, she projected.

Jonah stared at me with a look of displeasure as he thought,
This is not a good idea
.

Gripping his biceps and turning him around, I gently pushed him
into the room while she held the door open with her boot. Just her appearance
made me a bit on edge—not because of her goth attire, but because of the
fierce, sinister look on her face. She was clearly trying to intimidate us.

Before I could fully enter the room, Jonah flicked on the lights.
Florescent bulbs pinged and flickered to life, allowing me the chance to look
around a room I hadn’t seen yet. Easels were set up in a circle around an empty
pedestal. Smocks hung along one wall while the other wall was lined with
cabinets and shelves.

“You have our attention, Eve. Now, what is it you want from us?”
Jonah asked as he stood with a wide stance and arms crossed over his chest.

“The name is Jesse, and…”

“I don’t really give a flying fuck what your name is,” Jonah spat.
I could feel his heart begin to race frantically, like his anger was getting
the best of him yet again.

“Jonah, chill. Let her talk,” I said as I placed my hand on his
forearm to soothe him. Mere seconds later, his heart began to calm.

“Wow. I didn’t see that coming,” Jesse said. It was as if a
baseball bat hit me over the side of my head. Suddenly, I realized it was probably
a mistake to show this woman—whoever she was—that my powers were
increasing.

Knowing what she was referring to, I decided to play it cool.
Letting go of Jonah, I said, “Didn’t see what coming?”

“You, Ella. I knew you were special the moment I saw you in
Jonah’s dreams, but I had no idea you possessed the gift of tranquility,” Jesse
said, a slight hint of suspicion in her tone.

“Saw her in my dreams? You mean you’ve been stalking my dreams all
this time?” Jonah exclaimed.

“I have my reasons. The fact that Ella was dream walking while in
a coma should be the topic of choice right now,” Jesse rebutted as she leaned
against a stool and crossed her arms over her small chest.

I didn’t quite know how to respond to that little factoid. Jonah
looked at me with a blank expression, obviously just as tongue tied as I was.

Leaning against the wall, I put my head back and whined. Yes, I
whined—because this whole conversation was making me dizzy. “I’m so
confused.”

“I don’t know what you’re confused about, Ella,” Jesse chimed.
“With another Soul Seer’s blood in you, your powers increased while you
continued to heal. I was a bit worried with the fact it took you so long to
come out of it, but quickly noticed you were dreaming. When I tried to walk
into your dreams, I realized they weren’t yours… they were Jonah’s.”

It took all the strength I had not to show my surprise. So, she
not only knew about the blood transfusion, but she also figured out I was dream
walking. I could tell she was trying to catch us off guard. So, to spoil her
fun, I rolled my eyes and huffed.

“That’s not what I meant and you know it. I’m confused as to why
that would be your subject of choice. Clearly, your presence here needs more
explanation than what I do in my own dreams,” I explained as I propped one hand
on my hip and gestured with the other like an angry Italian grandmother.

Jesse stood up and took a few steps towards me until her face was
only about a foot away from mine. “It’s not what you do, Ella. What’s important
is the reason you’re able to do all these things—the reason you have all
these gifts. That’s what is important to me. That’s the reason I’m standing
here in front of you right now. I know you’re not stupid. You and Jonah are
both very aware of your situation and the consequences that could lie ahead.”

As she spoke, she inched closer to me until I could feel her
breath on my face. Staring her straight in the eye and thinking of what to say,
I felt Jonah’s hand lightly touch the center of my chest and push back,
effectively separating Jesse and me. Good thing too. She was getting way too
close.

“Stop it,” Jonah growled. Stepping between us and turning his back
to me, he addressed Jesse head on. “Our situation is none of your concern.
Unless you can tell me why you’re here, I’d like you to leave… now,” he
seethed, while pointing his finger toward the door.

Placing my hand against his back, I took a deep breath and kept
him composed. As I closed my eyes to focus on calming Jonah’s heart, I heard
Jesse’s block start to slip.

You guys have no
idea what you’ve done. So dangerous—so very deadly. You’re going to ruin
everything. Sometimes selfishness speaks volumes…

“Well,” Jonah prompted, interrupting my concentration on Jesse’s
thoughts.

“I ca—”

Before Jesse could get out two words, the door opened, startling
us all.
