“You are so fucking beautiful like this.”

She didn’t verbally respond, but her heart beat sped up, letting him know anyway that she’d heard him just fine. “Lie still and relax, babe.” He released her legs from behind his back and stretched her out in the water. He then spread her legs and walked between them. “You don’t need these.” He flexed his forearms, shifting just enough his claws lengthened and he used the sharp edge to cut the tiny thong from her body.

“Hey.”

“Seriously,” he said. “They are sexy and all, but I’m going to probably ruin them every time.”

“Then you’ll have to buy me more.”

He grinned before leaning over to nip at her hip. “Done.”

Afterward he cupped her ass and lifted her hips a few inches out of the water. From there he kissed a trail from her navel to the trim soft patch of hair above her clit. He couldn’t stop staring at the pretty, pink flesh that glistened from the water. Of its own volition his head descended until his tongue was buried in her hot, wet center.

Everything else fell away.

The worries about their mating and how it would be perceived by the councils mattered little with her body under his control. Whether or not she would choose to stay with him seemed like a foregone conclusion while her hands gripped his hair. And he certainly didn’t give a shit about what claim the other wolves might try to make against her as long as they were connected.

He moved his head, scraping his teeth against her inner thighs. It would be so easy to sink into her…

Chapter Thirteen

Sienna couldn’t breathe. Her legs were shaking from his too wicked mouth. Thank God he held her because the instinct to writhe and wriggle for more until she came wouldn’t let go.

He alternated between licking her cleft and scrapping his whiskers and teeth across the top inside of her left thigh. It was driving her wild. Every time his teeth nipped her skin a white hot heat seared through her.

“More.”

Oh God. She definitely wanted more.

“Not yet, love. Not yet. Come first.”

I can’t. She wanted to scream but instead her chest seized and she gasped for air.

“Let it go and give it to me. Come for me, Sienna.”

At the sound of her name she broke. His mouth closed over her and sucked hard as the world around her exploded.

Tears sprang to her eyes as she felt herself lifted from the water and settled on the grassy bank. Her eyes popped open to grasp what was happening. She was indeed no longer on the river, but he’d set her on the rocky side where his body still standing in the water lined up hi—

Oh. Wow.

Gage opened her thighs wider and stepped forward. Sienna sucked in a breath.

Definitely big.

His hands tightened on her thighs as he started to slide inside. Her breath hitched.

Oh. My. God. He was stretching her—holy shit.

She watched his face as he entered her, noticing the immediate change from fierce conqueror to a shocked look of pure bliss. Neither of them were breathing.

His eyes narrowed on a rough exhale.

“Sienna…”

She couldn’t speak. Somehow breathing happened because she was still conscious, although she had no idea how.

“Dammit, babe. You are even more perfect than I thought.” He wrapped her up in his arms and pulled her back from the ground. “You’re so tight.”

He’d pushed all the way inside her and now with their torsos smashed together there was no room to move.

Everything she thought she cared about floated away as Gage enveloped her in everything that he was, while holding steady above her.

“Kiss me, baby,” she whispered. So proud she managed to get three words out, she smiled into the kiss, opening her mouth so he could thoroughly possess her.

At the same time he performed a series of slow thrusts that ignited unexpected nerve endings that drew a series of moans from her and a lot of growling from him. Sienna grabbed his back and wrapped her legs around his waist, opening her body for more.

Her heart hammered, her breath caught as the pressure in her womb gathered like a fast moving storm. “Oh. God. Gage. Please don’t stop.”

“No way, baby. Too late to stop.” He drove faster, hurtling her toward the edge. She held on, her nails digging into his sweat slickened back, his muscles flexing under my hands. He was so strong and big, which meant he could go deep and hard, both of which felt out of this world good.

“You going to come hard for me, babe? Need it.”

She jolted, unable to speak. It was too late for talk as she cried out, coming apart under his heavy weight bearing down on her.

She held on as she came while he continued to move. His lips and teeth were all over her skin, kissing and nipping. When his head came up and he looked down on her, she almost cried at the beauty above her. His mouth was open as he pounded into her and she spied the extended canines at the edge of his mouth. The overwhelming urge to feel his bite came over her.

The thought of his teeth sliding against her skin had her building again. Her hips surged to meet his and she lifted up to bite him instead. She grabbed the soft skin of his neck between her teeth and bore down enough to leave her mark.

“Fuck, Sienna. You’re killing me babe.”

“Me too,” she said. “Can’t stop feeling. Needing more.”

He growled before he kissed her, this time absorbing her moans as she came again.

He buried his face in her neck as he moved faster, harder. So much power radiating from him as he grabbed her hips, pulling her even deeper. His growls turned to grunts.

“Feel me, baby. Take me. All of me.”

Yes.

She held on tight as heat scalded her inside and out.

Mate.
The word slid through her mind a second before he said it.

“Mate. Mine.”

Her heart beat wild as he collapsed onto his elbows, before rolling them both to their side without disconnecting. It felt so good to be this close to him, she wanted to stay like this forever.

This man, no shifter she corrected, was more than anything she ever expected. She’d still been so hurt just a few days ago and then Gage stormed into her life and ripped everything she thought she thought she knew to shreds.

When he declared that she flattened him her body and heart had screamed for him in return. And yet, her brain wouldn’t let her say the words.

It was too soon.

Too fast.

The repeated mantra in her head wouldn’t let up.

Why?

She wanted to let go and live. Didn’t she?

Sienna spread her arms to the side too exhausted to even hold onto him any longer.

“Oh. My. God,” she said.

“I can’t move. My mate killed me.”

She laughed as her belly swooshed with the thrill of wiping out her big shifter. That had been worth the wait.

Before she could say anything else, music started playing from somewhere close by.

“Is that—”

“My phone. Fuck.” He eased from her body and then sprang into motion.

“Is that Push It by Salt n Pepa?”

He grabbed his pants from the ground and dug into the pockets. “No— I mean yeah. It’s Nikki. She’s in labor.”

Sienna sprang up, her legs a little rubbery but holding. “What? Really? That’s a ringtone for labor? From Nikki?”

“Yeah. She’s got a strange sense of humor. Hurry get dressed we gotta go. Someone should be with her since Dean would never leave her alone, but you never know and we might be the closest.”

She grabbed her pants and her top and dressed as quickly as she could. She barely had the top over head and Gage grabbed her hand.

“Let’s go.”

With no time to catch her breath, they walk/jogged back to the bike, hopped on and took off. The late afternoon sun was beginning to dip below the trees and the temperature was cooling off fast. She pressed harder into Gage’s back to absorb some of his warmth as the wind whipped through her still wet hair.

His heat reminded her what it felt like to have him inside her, thrusting… Her body clenched. He’d claimed her as mate when he came inside her and he didn’t have a condom on. Racing to rescue a pregnant woman made her realize how vulnerable she was to the same fate. This fact should have freaked her out. But it didn’t. Instead she squeezed him harder. Yes, she wanted to live and staying with the shifters may be the only way to ensure her safety, but more importantly he made her want so much more than just to survive. Why would she turn down an adventure with a gorgeous man who might end up loving her to go back to nothing?

Sienna took a deep breath and blew it out.

Nothing would still be there if it didn’t work out. And honestly, she was tired of worrying all the damn time. How was she going to pay her bills? Where would she work? When could she get her own apartment? It was exhausting the amount of brain power she consumed worrying about every little thing.

She had a man right now between her legs who was offering her the adventure of a life time and she was still worrying.

Not a man she reminded herself. A shifter. She still had some questions. Maybe after Nikki had her baby they could have a girl day and talk some of these things out.

Speaking of…

Gage slowed the motorcycle down and pulled into the parking lot of Dark Moon. His home. She knew from their early morning arrival when the sun went down it would turn black as night unless the moon lit their way. They weren’t that deep into the country, but even forty-five minutes to a decent size city left things pretty damned rural. Maybe tomorrow they could explore the area some more.

Gage parked the bike at the entrance and she jumped off before he even shut down. Her time with Nikki had been brief the day before, but she liked her a lot and wanted to make sure she was okay.

She raced into the building to find the pregnant feline pacing in front of the door.

“About time someone showed up,” she snarled. “The contractions are getting closer.”

“Where’s Dean?” Sienna asked as Gage rushed in behind her.

“You didn’t hear?”

“Hear what?” Gage sounded alarmed.

“After you two left the clinic today, that pack of mangy Blackwood wolves stormed the clinic and hauled an unconscious Simon out of the building. He’s gone. Bhric, Dean and Calder joined with Rafe’s pack and went after them.”

“What?” She and Gage were in unison this time.

Before Nikki could answer she grabbed her stomach in agony and screeched while dipping to the floor. Sienna ran forward and grabbed her arm for support. “Breath through it,” she said while rubbing her back.

“How far apart?”

“I don’t know exactly. A few minutes maybe.”

“Did your water break?” she asked.

Nikki nodded. “Long time ago.”

“Fuck.”

Both women looked up at Gage.

Sienna shook her head. “Yeah exactly, we need to call 911 now! She needs to get to the hospital.”

Both Nikki and Gage roared. “No.”

Sienna took a step back, startled by their outburst.

Nikki grabbed her arm. “Shifters can’t go to human hospitals. I need Simon.”

Gage yanked his cell phone from his pocket, pushed a few buttons and pressed the phone to his ear.

Nikki shook her head. “It’s no use. I’ve been calling them and leaving them messages for two hours.”

“Why the hell aren’t they answering their phones?” In this day and age it made no sense for anyone to be completely out of communication.

“Probably went hunting in their shifter forms. Their senses are strong in human form, but ten times better if they switch,” Gage explained.

Duh.

Now she felt like an idiot.

“We’ve got to do something. She’s going to have this baby soon and I don’t think a bar is the best place for this kind of thing.”

Gage shrugged. “Good a place as any at this point.”

“Yeah, as long as the health inspector doesn’t show up.”

No one laughed at Nikki’s attempt at a joke. Sienna was scared to death as all the thoughts of what could go wrong filtered through her mind in alarming detail.

“I need to think. I’ve listened to Marcy talk about delivering babies ad nauseum. You’d think I could remember at least some of it.”

“Who’s Marcy,” Nikki asked.

“My best friend. The roommate I told you about. She took me in and let me sleep on her couch because I can’t afford my own place.”
