In the morning, there was breaking news that Hayley Martin’s poor husband had swooped into the hotel in a desperate attempt to win her back, or save the marriage, or denounce her as an evil whore, depending on which news organization you believed.

In reality, Hayley and I lounged in bed, called our parents to assure them that all the hubbub was just a great fiction designed to market the movie, but that they shouldn’t tell anyone. We instructed them to just avoid any questions if they came up, until things were eventually straightened out as the movie publicity tour came to a close.

It was hard to lay it all on our parents, that was true enough, and we both regretted not talking it through with them before it all started—but really, it had gotten going so fast.

At work, I felt a mass of consolatory glances from co-workers, and had the “David, are you okay? Do you need to take some time?” concerned question from my boss. I just nodded and dismissed any worries headed my way—how could I tell them it was just marketing fluff?

Of course deep down, I did actually like the idea of Hayley having an affair with her co-star, but the publicity that surrounded their fake affair was wincingly oppressive. At the end of the day, it was a little difficult for me to get any work done just from the attention it sent my way—I ended up taking my boss’s offer of a little time off work.

The media strategy governing Hayley’s affair with Aaron started out based around that one series of photos exclusively sold to Us Weekly, accompanied by a series of official denials from both sides that anything was happening beyond a friendly meeting between co-stars about to embark on a world tour to publicize their new movie. Of course, there were “friends” and “sources close to” both Hayley and Aaron—who as far as I could tell were probably Liona and Jake, and their equivalents on Aaron’s side—dropping little confirmations to the media that Aaron was “besotted” with Hayley and that Hayley was “desperately in love” with Aaron while having to deal with the little complication in the form of her marriage.

Frankly, I was shocked how everything developed so quickly. Aaron Simpson was a huge star, that was true. And the world couldn’t get enough of Hayley’s beauty and grace.

It was quite intrusive how the photographers lined up outside our hotel, and then outside the next one when we moved in an attempt to throw them off the scent. I couldn’t go to work without being followed, though in those few weeks there was only so much interest the media had in the unfortunate wretch who was married to the gorgeous Hayley Martin now that she was an item with Aaron Simpson.

While the official teams continued to deny there was any link between the two lovebirds other than their roles in the movie, I watched my wife sprucing herself up before more “secret” meetings with him—some of which would be noticed by the paparazzi, but some of which would actually be kept secret, so the two of them could help each other through this media frenzy.

And she might have insisted that it was strictly platonic between them, and that she had no intention of doing anything serious with him—despite what the media was saying—but I still watched Hayley choosing sexy underwear and short skirts for meetings with Aaron, and as she spent more and more time with him, I felt certain some connection was building between them.

At night, she’d show me the text messages they were sending back and forth with each other, and I have to admit Aaron was charming and certainly not pushing her into anything she didn’t want to do. He wasn’t in any kind of desperate rush to suggest their affair turn real.

But the way he constantly complimented her, and the way she responded, hinted at some kind of forbidden attraction, a desire that went beyond the agreed bounds, a secret wish to be together freed from the bonds of Hayley’s marriage.

And when she came back to me after meeting him, she always had that glow about her, that bubbly, giggly energy of a young woman in lust—and she was always wet and craving my hardness deep inside her.

Chapter Twelve

Hayley was in relatively close contact with Aaron most of the time, even while their affair was officially being denied by the studio, the stars and their representatives. The two of them were meeting up every day or two, starting out with a little celebration of the fact that their movie opened big, taking the number one spot for that weekend.

But there were secret romantic meals together, afternoons hanging out at Aaron’s mansion in Malibu, night-time visits to exclusive nightclubs where they could dance until the small hours, stirring the rumor mill all the time they were with each other. Then there were the official engagements, of course, the interviews and appearances scheduled to continue promoting the movie, including their
Tonight Show
appearance.

I was feeling a constant buzz from the sense that my wife was happy in this strange new arrangement, receiving all the benefits of a new relationship except for the sexual part. I was also happy that she was open with me about what was going on, including how much she was enjoying herself with Aaron—although she was still a little reluctant about detailing how she enjoyed kissing and cuddling with him when it was required.

I could even follow their text messages and email conversations if I wanted to, though for the most part in the early weeks they were little more than businesslike, setting up future meetings and activities where they might be “accidentally” seen together.

There was a while where I just left them to it—I was enjoying following their media coverage, which tapped into my fantasy of sharing Hayley with another man, despite it all being set up.

The “smitten couple” were jetting off to all kinds of romantic getaways, apparently, despite the fact that I knew they were both in LA, with Hayley perusing various scripts being sent her way, and Aaron working on various projects—including a potential sequel to the prison drama—in the final few days before the promotional tour around the world for the Prisoner’s Wife.

I even managed to get my head down and get on with some real progress in my work, which provided me with some distraction for a while as Hayley spent more and more time with her co-star instead of her husband.

Then two nights before they were due to fly out to London ahead of the UK premiere for Prisoner’s Wife, I came back to find Hayley packing a suitcase.

“He wants to take me on his private jet,” she said.

I scratched my head. “I thought you were all booked to fly out on Tuesday.”

“He wants to fly out tonight, and get the official confirmation out…about our relationship.”

“Okay….”

“It’ll give a little more time for the news to sink in before the UK premiere.” She looked at me as though I had to give her permission.

I chuckled. “You know it’s not up to me where you go with Aaron.”

“You should have some say,” she insisted. “I am still your wife.”

Standing there, I saw her packing underwear into the suitcase lying on the bed—and it wasn’t just ordinary underwear, but fairly expensive-looking lingerie. Jesus. When did she buy that? And why would she need such fancy lingerie if she was only faking her affair with Aaron Simpson?

My stomach felt as though it was being squeezed by a vice—and yet at the same time, my cock seemed to be thickening within my pants.

“You’re heading off right now?” I asked.

“In Aaron’s private jet,” she agreed.

“I thought we’d get to spend a little more time together….”

“I know. I wanted that too. But Aaron thinks it’ll be much easier to get out of LA before the announcement breaks, and he wants a little more time before the premiere. It’s going to be so intense.”

The whole worldwide promotional tour had crept up on me—I had been expecting a couple more days to get my head around it all, to cope with the idea of my wife being away from home again for so long, spending all that time with Aaron while the world believed they were a couple.

“Here, take this one….” I heard a familiar voice from the bathroom, and lo and behold, Liona emerged holding up a few scraps of crimson lace that just about took my breath away.

What was Hayley’s agent doing persuading her to take such scandalous underwear on her promotional tour with Aaron Simpson?

The sharp blonde stopped in her tracks, surprised at my arrival.

“Seriously?” I laughed, though the thought of Hayley wearing something like that got my blood pumping quickly.

Liona said to me, “There’s been a change in strategy.”

“Yeah,” I nodded. “I heard. You’re making the announcement tonight.”

The blonde handed her chosen lingerie to Hayley to pack into the suitcase. “That’s not all. There are rumors floating around that Aaron Simpson’s putting his feelers out for his next major project.”

I sighed, and slumped down in the armchair in the corner of the room to get out of the way of all the furious packing activities. “I thought he was up for a sequel to Prisoner’s Wife?”

Liona said, “Oh, he is. At least, we hope so. But we need to work on the assumption that there’s a danger he’ll decide to do something else instead.”

“Something without Hayley?”

The agent nodded, and now perched on the end of the bed as Hayley went into the walk-in closet to fetch more of her clothes. “It’s standard tactics when you’re about to start negotiations for contracts for something like the Prisoner’s Wife sequel,” she explained. “You add an element of uncertainty to put yourself in a stronger position.”

“So what does that mean for us?” I asked. “He wants to force Hayley’s price down?”

Liona shook her head. “Oh no. She’ll make triple what she made on Prisoner’s Wife, I can guarantee that. You guys will be set up, even if Hayley doesn’t do another movie after that. It’s something else he wants.”

“Hayley.”

“Exactly.” Liona glanced toward the walk-in closet. “Of course, we’re not supposed to know any of this, yet. Hopefully that means we can take advantage, get a few moves ahead.”

“You think he’s going to decide on a different movie if he doesn’t get Hayley properly?”

“I think she’s driving him crazy, and he’s bound to start getting a little frustrated.”

My ears started ringing, my whole body trembling as adrenalin surged through my bloodstream. “So what’s the strategy?”

“I’m afraid Hayley’s going to have to do everything in her power to make Aaron Simpson believe she really wants him, and that at some point in the future, this little pretend affair of theirs will become real.”

“He’s never going to actually come out and say we can’t do the movie if I don’t sleep with him,” Hayley yelled from the closet.

“No, but if he gets the sense from you that you will eventually go for it, he’s much more likely to stay on course, and not start looking around at other cute actresses he could have if he wanted.”

“You just have to make him believe you’ll sleep with him,” I said.

Hayley ducked her head out of the closet door and smirked at me, knowing exactly how I felt about that.

“I just have to keep him interested until we get the contracts signed,” she insisted.

I nodded, though it seemed like a strange strategy to me. I said, “Hence all the fancy underwear, huh? You’re really going to let him see you in it, honey?”

Hayley emerged fully from the closet, and dropped another pile of clothing—mostly underwear, it seemed—in her suitcase, including the tiniest g-string I’d ever seen. When had she bought all this stuff?

“You don’t mind me wearing a few sexy little numbers for him, do you?” Hayley flashed her eyes at me and came over to sit on my lap.

“Of course not,” I said, feeling her gently pressing her body down against my hardness, feeling out how I felt about her flying off with another man bearing a whole array of lingerie in her luggage.

She kissed me, and it felt so sweet, I wanted to just throw her down on the bed and take her—but Liona was sitting right there, checking on her cell phone. It didn’t help that Hayley was wearing a short red-and-white floral summer dress that was just asking to be pulled up—or torn off.

“The limo is waiting downstairs,” the bright blonde said, and I heard Hayley groan, and not in a good way.

She broke away from me, but continued to press herself against my throbbing cock through my pants. She said, “Will you be okay…you know…without me?”

“I’ll struggle through, I’m sure,” I said, then turned to Liona. “Wouldn’t it just be simpler to…well… give Aaron what he wants? I mean, I’d say that nobody needs to know about it, but the world kind of believes it’s already happened.”

Liona smiled, and I could see she thought I was simply making a joke. “Well,” she said, “I’m sure if we could change things so that she wasn’t married married, that she’d never met Mr. Right until she was 35 with a few blockbuster movies already under her belt, things would have been a lot easier. But—”

“I love you, and only you,” Hayley said, kissing me again. “I can hold Aaron Simpson off.”

There was a knock on the door, and a uniformed bellhop emerged tentatively. Hayley hopped up to zip up her case, and hand it over to the guy—who already had a trolley with him bearing six suitcases that were identical to the crimson-and-gold suitcase that was apparently mostly filled with underwear.
