Read Shattered (Alchemy Series Book #3) Online
Authors: Donna Augustine
"And that's why the
changed
are drawn to me." I looked across the expanse at Sabrina, who was a perfect example. We'd gotten so much closer since the shattering, but I'd just thought it was the situation. It had happened with all of them.
"What if I die?"
"
Who knows, but I'd rather not find out," Burrom said.
I wanted to ask
whether he had really been willing to kill me, but I didn't want to tell the whole room that part. When we had rejoined the group, without a prior word about it, both Burrom and I had selectively chosen to leave that part out.
"But
why do you look so much like Cormac?" Dark asked Burrom.
"I don't know
, but I'm pretty sure that's on Jo, too." He pulled a cigar, rather than his pipe, out of his pocket and lit it. "Goes better with the new look," he explained to everyone in the room.
I leaned my head back on the couch.
"This isn't going to be the end of it. The senator isn’t going to leave us in peace," I said.
"No, he's not," Cormac agreed
. "And we aren't going to wait."
My phone started buzzing at the same time as Cormac's. Then Dodd's chimed in
, followed by Dark's.
We all scrambled to answer them
,
knowing there must be a problem when Kever burst into the room.
He paused inside the door, panting heavily. "The portal," he got out in between ragged breathes.
"What?" we all screamed.
"It just popped open. They're coming."
"Who?" Cormac asked.
"The Fae and the wolves, all of them!
Thousands of them!"
