CHAPTER
TWENTY

“You know what happens now.”

The window to
the King’s chamber was wide open and the howling cold from the far away ocean
could be heard and felt from it. Stacey and Zane stood next to it, their hands
at each other’s sides, kissing as the moon and stars watched over them. For
Stacey, today had been a miraculous adventure, something that she’d dreamed
about, wished for, longed for, that she had never imagined would ever come
true. Staring into Zane’s eyes she was so at home, so at peace – she never
wanted to ever be apart from him.

“I don’t know
what happens,” Stacey whispered. “I don’t know anything anymore.”

“We’ll make
it,” Zane said. “We’ll make it if we try.”

“I believe,
you,” Stacey said, kissing him.

“And I
believe you.”

They went to
the ledge of the window and climbed through it together.

“When I say
three, jump with me.”

Stacey looked
at her man and smiled.

 “One…”

Stacey
thought about the people who’d be after her.

“Two…”

Stacey
thought about the dragons who’d be after Zane.

“Three…”

On three they
both jumped out into the night, and before Stacey hit the ground, there was
something there to catch her.

Their
adventure was not over.
