Connor stilled a moment and continued his pumping action. He could feel his completion getting closer and closer. Sally fully accommodated him, pushing her ass up against him. The sound the slapping of their bodies made was more than he could take; he moaned as his body convulsed releasing his come inside her. He pulled his cock out of her and they both collapsed onto the bed into each other’s arms.
M
aurice shut his phone. He could feel the fury building inside him. Dakarai didn't need him! Well, he would regret those words.
I will take Mary and kill Dakarai.
“Jacquelyn!” he shouted.
Jacquelyn rushed out from the back room. “Maurice, you called!”
“Yes, my dear. Have the preparations been made for plan B?”
“Yes; everything is in place. We just need Dakarai to get Mary to the location.”
“There has been a development. Dakarai won’t be helping us anymore.”
“Shit. Now how will we get her alone?”
“I've been thinking about that. I can’t get close enough but maybe Haley can.”
“Haley? How?”
“She has only been gone from
Bloodlust
a few days. She worked with Mary, and could lure her out and then we can grab her.”
Jacquelyn smiled excitedly. “You are brilliant, Sire,” she cooed.

acquelyn and Haley pulled up to Mary's apartment. Haley was less than thrilled with the so-called plan.
“This whole thing is just messed up. Why are we blindly agreeing to commit a crime?”
“Our sire asked us to; Mary is his love, she belongs with him.”
“She dumped him like a bad habit—the right of every woman dead or undead.”
Jacquelyn was getting very frustrated at Haley's reluctance, even if she did agree. Why was Maurice so obsessed? He could have had her many times over and she would have made him very happy. That line of thought was getting her nowhere; they had a job to do.
“Just do it already. Invite her to a girl’s night out. If she says no, we can tell Maurice we tried and failed.”
“Wait here. I'll be back.”
M
ary was very pleased she had a new suitor. She took off the work uniform as soon as she returned home and put on a long flowing yellow skirt with white flowers and a plain white short-sleeved blouse. She sat and read a book with her cat for a while when the doorbell rang. That was odd since there were very few people who ever visited. She opened the door and found Haley, one of the blood donors from
Bloodlust
, standing there. She looked different; a little thinner than the last time she saw her.
“Haley?” she asked.
“Yeah. Can I come in, Mary?”
“Um, sure.”
Mary moved aside and Haley followed her to the couch. They both sat and Haley smiled a very familiar smile.
“You look a little different,” Mary said at once.
“Lipo; thought I might get more customers if I lost a few pounds. Don’t I look great?”
“You look thinner, but you always looked great.”
“Aww, thanks, Mary. You are always so kind. Listen, I came over to ask if you would like to go to a movie with my girlfriend and me. Enri suggested I invite you and gave me your address.”
Mary looked at Haley for a moment and considered what she said. She wanted more friends, but this seemed a little strange. She pushed the thought aside and said why not?
“Sure; I would like that.”
“Great,” Haley responded enthusiastically. “The movie starts in a half hour—are you ready?”
“Sure, let me get my purse.” Mary grabbed her purse and locked the door behind them as they left.
Haley led her over to a parked car where another woman was waiting in the driver’s seat. They got in and Haley introduced her to Jacquelyn. Jacquelyn spoke with a deep French accent, but seemed nice enough.
“You’re a Vampire,” Mary said suddenly, after an awkward silence.
“Yes, I am.” Jacquelyn laughed. “Haley and I have been friends for a while; we met at
Bloodlust
.”
Mary nodded but found this odd, since Vampires almost never socialized with the blood donors. Mary glanced at her watch and noted that they had been traveling almost forty minutes, which was strange since Haley said the movie started in thirty minutes. Mary looked at the girls and got a really bad feeling about the whole thing.
“Haley, where are we going?”
“Shut up!” Jacquelyn snapped suddenly.
Mary sank back into her seat, clutching her purse that held her cell phone. She slowly reached inside the purse, only to have it snatched by Haley.
“I don't think so! Behave and you won’t be hurt.”
“Why are you doing this? What have I done?” she asked in a panic.
“Maurice is our sire,” Jacquelyn answered.
Mary's face dropped as the realization hit that Maurice was going to do something horrible. Would he kill her? Would he drag her back to France? The possibilities were endless.
“When were you changed, Haley?”
Haley looked at Mary and shrugged. “A couple days ago. How did you know?”
“I can sense it. I couldn't at first because you’re so new, but now I can sense the difference. Did he force you?”
Haley looked at her lap, a little sad. Mary took that as confirmation she didn't choose the change. “I'm sorry; it's hard when the change is not wanted.”
Haley looked up at Mary angrily. “It doesn't matter now; what's done is done. Just shut up, okay?”
Mary noticed the area they were in was more isolated and rural. She saw many cornfields and farms. They turned off another road, and she could see what looked like a small airport ahead. As they got closer, she saw what looked like a corporate jet of some kind. Maurice was obviously planning on taking her somewhere far away.
The car stopped and Haley grabbed her and they got out of the car. They walked toward the plane and as they got closer, she spotted Maurice. This was it. If she didn't make a run for it, she wasn't going to be able to get away.
Mary wiggled free of Haley's grip and ran toward a farm in the distance, at least two miles away.
“Get her!” Maurice yelled.
Mary ran as fast as her Vampire speed would take her and stopped when she came face to face with Dakarai and another man.
“Get behind us and stay back,” Ebo shouted.
“Who are you?”
“Ebo; now get behind me.”
Mary complied, running past the men and staying behind them. Jacquelyn and Haley stopped when they came to the men.
Dakarai scowled at them. “I see Maurice is using women to fight his battles now. Why am I not surprised?” Dakarai laughed.
“I can fight my own battles just fine,” Maurice said, appearing behind the two women.
“I am exercising my right to an honor battle to the death,” Dakarai said to Maurice.
Maurice lifted on eyebrow and laughed. “Honor battle? On what grounds? She isn't anything to you.”
“On the grounds that I love her and she is mine,” Dakarai snarled.
Maurice looked at Dakarai with such hate. “You will die for this; she is mine.”
“No weapons—bare hand beheading,” Dakarai replied plainly, and then smiled in excitement at the thought of tearing Maurice’s head off.
D
akarai prepared for the battle, taking off his shirt and mentally deciding on his strategy. Maurice was much younger. It shouldn't be a problem, but he didn't want to become over confident. Maurice was cunning and devious and he didn't put it past the man to try and cheat his way to a win.
The men faced each other. Maurice was also bare-chested. They had agreed to let Ebo serve as a referee. Ebo signaled the men to begin. Dakarai slowly circled Maurice like a shark deciding when to make the kill. Maurice lunged at him, his fangs bared. Dakarai quickly moved to the side, avoiding his attack completely. Maurice hissed in frustration and Dakarai laughed at the younger Vampire.
“Is that how you intend to fight me; fangs bared, full speed ahead?” Dakarai challenged.
“You talk too much, Dakarai. Fight me like a man.”
“We are not men; we are Vampire,” Dakarai yelled. He took that opportunity to run at Maurice. He caught his throat with his fangs and took a chunk out and spit the flesh onto the pavement.
Maurice got away from Dakarai, but staggered as blood flowed down his chest. The wound started healing immediately, but the blood loss would affect Maurice, making it harder for him to fight back.
“Mary is mine; she loves me, not you,” Maurice sputtered out in a panic.
“I will kill you, and then I will go home with Mary. I will have the one thing you want most,” Dakarai taunted derisively.
Maurice lunged at him again; this time he leapt into the air over Dakarai's head, landing behind him.
Dakarai quickly spun around and leapt out of the way, but not quick enough. Maurice took a bite out of his shoulder. The gaping hole bled and quickly mended itself. Dakarai was done playing games; he used his vampire speed, running around Maurice in circles and confusing him. He stopped behind him and slammed him to the ground. Maurice howled in pain as his head cracked on the pavement. Maurice spit out blood; he was getting dizzy from the blood loss and the wound.
“Go ahead, kill me; I'll see you in hell,” Maurice spat and before he could say another word, Dakarai twisted his head and tore it from his body. The body disintegrated into an old dried up skeleton.
Haley and Jacquelyn screamed at the death of their sire. The death of a sire was a painful process for a fledgling. It felt like your heart was breaking, emotionally as well as physically. They sank to the ground and held each other through the pain. Once the pain finally subsided, they looked up and saw Dakarai glaring at them, and then they screamed again.
“Please, sir, don’t kill us,” Jacquelyn begged.
“I'm new. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to do it,” Haley cried
Mary jumped in front of the women and looked at Dakarai. “There has been enough death tonight. They are a product of their sire; they need guidance,” Mary said. She saw the look on his face soften to her touch as she held his hand. “You need to guide them.”
“No, no way!”
“Dakarai,” Ebo said as he approached. “I will take them if you can’t take the time out of your busy life,” he said sarcastically.
“Fine! It seems I have been ganged up on.” He laughed.
Ebo smiled and offered his hand to Dakarai. Dakarai took it and shook the hand of his once estranged child. “I hope we can build our relationship. You are the closest thing to family I have, other than Salihah. Go to her, Ebo; I am sure she misses you terribly.”
Ebo nodded and left.
“Okay girls, get up. Dakarai is your new sire. He will teach you how to be good Vampires. You can stay at my house until we figure out more permanent arrangements.”
“Thank you, Mary.”
“Don't thank me yet. They're still your problem. I expect you to give them instruction every evening.”
“I suppose I will need to get a more permanent residence other than the hotel.”
“That would be best.”
Dakarai walked Mary to the car. He gave Mary a sweet kiss on the cheek, with a promise to see Jacquelyn and Haley tomorrow night, and then he left.
Mary was at her apartment with Haley and Jacquelyn, her new roommates for the moment. She was relieved she had decided on the two-bedroom apartment. They would have to share a room but they were in no position to complain.
The spare room had one double bed, a small dresser, and nightstand. It was plain so they could decorate if they wanted.
“Here is your room; you will have to share. The blinds are already fitted with darkening blinds on a timer. If you’d rather have two single beds I can arrange that; if not, this is what you get.”
Both women nodded and Haley was the first to speak up. “I like it; it’s cute and cozy, and I love having a roomie. I've always lived alone. This will be a nice change and I want to say I'm sorry for everything I did.” She gave Mary a quick hug and sat on the bed. She lay down. “Comfy.”
Jacquelyn was silent, and then looked at Mary with hate in her eyes. “I loved him. He was my sire and I was in love with him. I won’t forgive you for this. It's your fault he's dead; you should have loved him back.”
