“Will you marry me, Molly?”
Molly sobbed and threw her arms around him. “Yes,” she managed between sobs. Ryder slid his arms around her waist and pulled her close. They hung on for a while, holding each other, Molly trying to get herself under control. Finally, she felt she could speak. She sat back and wiped her eyes.
“I love you, Ryder. I really, really love you so much.”
Ryder smiled and took her left hand in his. “I know you do. I love you, too.”
He slipped a beautiful ring on her finger. Molly gasped when she looked at the ring. A beautiful, radiant cut diamond, more than a carat. It had a double band with pave-set diamonds along each band and a halo around the radiant cut diamond. It was without a doubt the most beautiful ring Molly had ever seen.
“It’s official now. You’re going to be my wife.”
Molly looked Ryder in the eyes and stared in disbelief. He wanted to marry her and have a family? Un-friggin-real. She looked down at the ring and back up at Ryder and all she could say was, “Wow.”
“I was going to wait until Christmas, but I didn’t want to wait anymore. I know we haven’t been together very long, so we don’t have to get married right away. We can wait until summer or next year if you want. Just please don’t make me wait forever.”
“Ryder. I’m speechless. Your notebook…it’s beautiful. I don’t have words to express my thoughts on it. I had no idea you had feelings like that. I don’t feel deserving of you, of them. You’re amazing to me. You make me feel…so much, but mostly, you make me feel loved. I want to make you feel loved, Ryder. I promise you, I will love you for the rest of my life.”
“That’s all I ask for, Molly.”
Ryder leaned in and kissed her, softly, gently. He kissed her nose and her forehead. He looked at her and smiled. “Sealed with a kiss.”
Ryder reached over and pulled a beautiful white box with a purple butterfly off one of the chairs at the table. He smiled as he handed it to her.
“For special occasions. The only occasion that will be more special than this is the day you marry me. I’ll buy the whole store for you that day.”
Molly sobbed and wiped her eyes. She kissed his beautiful lips, cheeks, chin, and each eyelid as she gently took the box from his hands. She carefully lifted the lid of the beautiful ak Kreations box and as the aroma of sweet dark chocolate wafted out, her stomach growled. Ryder laughed at her as she lifted the first beautiful truffle from the box, unwrapped it, and held it to his lips.
“This is the most special, special occasion I have ever had in my life. I’m so happy I’m sharing it with you, Ryder Sheppard.”
Ryder bit into the smooth chocolate confection and watched as Molly ate the other half. He licked her lips and hummed his approval.
“Let’s go look at some houses and stop by my parents’ house and tell them we’re getting married. When we come home, I’m going to eat the rest of those off your body.”

I was born in Bridgeton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. During my time in Missouri, I explored the Ozarks, swam in the Mississippi River, played kickball and endless games of hide-and-seek with the neighborhood kids. Spending summers in Kentucky with my grandmother, Ruth, are among my fondest childhood memories.
When I was thirteen, my family moved to Wisconsin to learn to farm. Yes, learn to farm! Taking city kids and throwing them on a farm, with twenty-eight cows purchased from the Humane Society because they had been abused, was interesting, to say the least. I learned to milk cows, the ins and outs of a breeding schedule, feeding schedule, the never-ending haying in the summer, and trying to stay warm in the winter. During our first winter in Wisconsin, we had thirty-six inches of snow from one storm, and we were snowed in for three days! Needless to say, I wasn’t loving Wisconsin.
I’m married with four children and three grandchildren. I have learned to love Wisconsin, though I still hate snow. Wisconsin and the United States are beautiful and my husband and I travel around by motorcycle seeing new places and meeting new people. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are interested in where we are going and what we have seen along the way. At almost every stop we make, the locals will ask us where we’re headed and offer advice on which roads in the area are best for travel and seeing the sites. They are also more than willing to share what others before us have told them about great rides and the best scenic routes to take.
I come from a family of veterans. My grandfather, father, brother, two of my sons, and one daughter-in-law are all veterans. Needless to say, I am proud to be an American and proud of the service my amazing family has given.
