Jaycee lay down on his grave, and the tears fell from her eyes down to his place of rest.
I am so sorry I wasn't here earlier. They wouldn't let me come. They'll probably kill me for being here now, but I need to be here. I am so confused, Pierre. They won't talk to me or hold me. They don't know anything about me, and they don't want to know. I've tried!
Jaycee's mournful wail released some of her grief. The sun set behind the mountain.
Is this what it's going to be like for the rest of our lives, Pierre? Because if it is, the running hasn't stopped.

The wind howled in the distance. Gentle fingers caressed her fur.
Jaycee, you must remember that Dane, Mark, and Remi have both been trained to always put the pack ahead of anyone or anything else. Give them time. Show them what it's like to be loved unconditionally.

Slowly lifting her head, Jaycee stared at Pierre's ghostly body as he kneeled down next to her.

I'm not saying it's going to be easy. There will be times when you won't know what to do, but talk to them and make them listen. I'll be watching, and I'll always be in your heart. Just know you're not alone, my pet.

Pierre, please don't leave me.
Jaycee tried to move in closer, but he slowly vanished from her sight.

Remember, Jaycee. They all love you, as did I.
