Bursting through the doors to my gym, I head straight to the punch bags and see Beast pounding away. The damn bag looks like it’s about to fall from the ceiling with the force of each of his jabs. Thank God I make sure those things are sturdy every week.

“Beast!” I holler as I come closer. “Mate, I need your help.”

He stops what he’s doing, sweat dripping down his face as he turns to look at me. “What’s up?”

“It’s my mum.” The scowl on his face tells me how much he dislikes her. Maybe not as much as me, but damn close.

“Let’s go to your office. I’m going to shower so I’ll meet you in there.” He heads off to the locker room and I turn and storm off to my office. I ignore everyone’s stares, not giving a fuck right now if people heard that.

Walking down the short hallway to reach my office, I feel the need to punch the shit out of something but being that this is my place and I don’t want to ruin the walls, I just take a few deep breaths and carry on walking.

Once inside my office with the door closed, I growl as I think back the words my mother spewed. She’s chatting bollocks as she always does. But I haven’t met her new husband…so who the fuck knows?

I collapse into my office chair and bang my head on the desk as I wait for Beast. The annoying tick-tock of the wall mounted clock is the only sound, other than my breathing, that can be heard. If my thoughts made noise, it would fill this one room with complete chaos.

“So, fucker, what’s happening?” Beast comes barrelling into the room, making me jump back in my chair.

“Fuck, you made me jump!” I exclaim as I clutch my chest, my heart trying to beat out of my chest.

“Sorry not sorry.” He chuckles as he takes a seat in a chair opposite me. “Spit it out, Roofie, what’s happening? I ain’t asking again.”

I tell him all about the conversation I had with mum, about the Mexican drug cartel and about her threats toward Gemma. After spilling the details, I notice the anger etched on his face when I finally look up.

“Mexican drug cartel? Are you sure?” His frown deepens.

“I’m going by what she’s saying. Her husband is apparently a drug smuggler for the Mexicans, shipping it into the UK. No wonder he’s so fucking rich and works away a lot.” I scrub a hand down my face, noting to myself that I need a shave.

“I’ll speak with Dom and Luke, see if they can find anything out.” They’re Beast’s Mafia bosses but they have an amazing bond compared to Carlos. And I’m glad Beast has a better relationship with the higher up’s. Carlos made sure to blackmail Beast often, and in the end it went too far. The whole MMA circuit in London is better off without the man. I, for one, am relieved the fucker has gone.

“Thanks, man. I owe you.” I give him a small smile in gratitude.

“Nah, we’re even. You’ve done enough for me over the years. Trust me.” He gets up, takes his mobile from his gym bag and salutes me on his way out the door. Fuck, I hope to God that Beast can get to the bottom of this latest drama. The thought of my mother hurting Gemma has hives breaking out over my skin.

I sit there for well over an hour and contemplate everything that seems to be happening. When did my mother change? When did she become so cold hearted? Though she probably thought the same about me. I’m not exactly the warmest person toward her. But can you blame me? She’s so stuck up her own arse that she doesn’t care for others. Even her precious baby girl is becoming too much like her and mother hates it. My family are as demented as they come and they seem to be going down a broken path and I can just picture my mum getting hurt after all is said and done. Do I care? Not particularly. I’ve had to deal with her shit for too fucking long. It’s about time I did something for myself instead of everything revolving around them.

For years I’ve been the go to person with my sister and until about six months ago, I was happy to protect her, fight her battles. But now? She’s a whore, a broken messed up bitch who doesn’t deserve my love, my attention. If she hadn’t have changed she would be an amazing person. But she looks up to mother like she’s a pariah and that’s where she took the wrong road, and she’s gotten even worse since my mum remarried. Now she’s sleeping with the step-brother? Fuck no. She can eat shit, puke it up and eat it again. She’s disgusting in my eyes. Yeah, I don’t see her step-brother as mine also, I refer to him as ‘the’ because he’s the cockiest twat I’ve ever met.

“Roofie! Hello?” I shake my head to rid my thoughts and look at the doorway. “Gem is here.”

“She is?” A little slither of happiness seeps into me and I smile for the first time in what feels like hours. I can feel the smile trying to pull my lips up but I won’t let Jase see it.

“Cool. I need to change, Jase. Can you leave?” I raise a brow at him, silently asking him why he’s still stood there. “Please?”

He laughs and closes the door. I quickly change into my regular gym clothes and leave my office, locking the door behind me. I check-in at reception to see if there is anything that I need to take care of before I head into the main room of the gym.

I don’t see Gemma anywhere so I’m guessing she’s still changing. Heading to the ring set up in the middle of the room, I sit on the ledge and wait for her. I’m training her today, Jase can fuck off if he thinks he’s doing it like he usually does. Today is my day.

Jase frowns at me when he sees me sitting here, arms crossed over my broad chest. “What are you doing, Roofie?”

“Waiting for Gemma. I’m sparring with her today. Take a break or whatever.” I wave a dismissive hand at him and he cackles with laughter.

“Dude, you have it fucking bad.” I frown at him in question. What the fuck is he on about? “Don’t give me that look, you know exactly what I mean.” He waves at me as he saunters off, laughing hysterically. What a nutter.

“Hey,” Gemma says with a sly smile on her face. She walks over to me and looks at me quizzically. “Where’s Jase?”

“I’m training you today, babe,” I tell her, smirking at her as I eye the way her shorts hug the curves of her hips and shape her ass so well that I have to think of dead animals to keep my cock from tenting my shorts. The tank is black, sticking to her like second skin. Her tits look fantastic and I can’t keep my eyes from staring there for a little bit longer. Damn, this girl is hot.

“Um…okay?” She says this as a question and I have to chuckle at her. “Do you know what you’re doing?”

I snort before replying, “Of course I do, I own this place, remember? I was the one that trained Jase so yeah, I think I know what I’m doing, babe.” I moved the ropes of the rings apart so she can climb in and I follow close behind her.

“Come here. I need to wrap your hands.” She takes tentative steps toward me before I get impatient and grab her wrist to pull her to me. She’s flush against me and I can’t help the hiss that escapes my mouth. Her breath hitches and her beautiful eyes flutter.
Shit, not here, Roofie, get yourself together, man!
I shout at myself in my head.

Pushing her back a little, I grab her hands and start wrapping them with a strip of cloth on each hand. I hold her delicate hands and massage her fingers with mine a little too long to be professional but I couldn’t give a fuck. Her eyes are trained on our hands that are joined between us.

I clear my throat and drop her hands. “Okay, you ready?” I grab the hand pads and put them on, I don’t need to instruct her much, she knows what she’s doing. Lately, her coach hasn’t been here to, well, coach her, so Jase has stepped in and now I have.

Her jabs are quick, hard and strong and I admire her just that little bit more. She’s determined and that’s what any fighter needs to remember; always stay determined or you’ll get your arse handed to you on a silver platter.

After thirty-minutes, a shit load of sweat and aching arms, we take a breather. She does some stretches and I go to the mini fridge just on the outside of the ring to get two cool water bottles. I toss her one before chugging mine down in one. I was fucking tempted to chuck it over myself but that wouldn’t be appropriate. We have cold showers in the locker rooms for a reason after all

“You good?” I ask her as I sit beside her in the middle of the ring. Her breathing has almost returned back to normal but the red tint to her cheeks remains.

“Yeah.” She smiles at me nervously. “I’m great.”

“Why are you nervous? I’m pretty sure I remember working up a sweat with you this morning.” I wink at her, trying to ease her nervousness.

“You’re so damn funny I can hardly contain my laughter.” Sarcasm drips from her words but her smile lights up the room. That smile alone contradicts her words.

“I know I am, but that’s why I’m so popular.” I lean back on my elbows as I watch her move a loose strand of hair behind her ear. It’s so endearing, her shyness, and I find myself wanting to play with her hair while she cuddles up to me, but there is a time and place for that and it’s not here.

“Yeah, you have two friends… so popular,” she says, smirking at me over her shoulder

“Ooh, sassy. Am I not your friend?” I pout mockingly at her.

“Oh, shut up, you doofus.” She laughs and the sound hits my soul, making my heart miss a beat. It’s a sound I could listen to for the rest of my life. That thought shocks me and I sit there blinking like a twat.

“Come on. One more round and you’re done for the day, babe.” I get to my feet and help her up. “This time, harder.”

“Was it not hard enough last time?” The truth of her words in her eyes makes me chuckle and I walk up to her, much like a predator would to its prey.

I whisper in her ear, “It can be harder next time if you wish, baby. Just say the word…” I trail off and place a soft kiss behind her ear. Fuck, she’s irresistible. I feel her shiver and her quick breath.

Pulling away, albeit reluctantly, I smile at her before leaving the ring, second round completely forgotten. I don’t look over my shoulder at her because I know if I do, I won’t leave her alone. Gritting my teeth, I head to the showers in the men’s locker room. The cold showers I might add. A boner is not a good look in these fucking shorts. Luckily, no one looks my way when I walk past but if anyone has noticed, they don’t make a sound or comment. I’d fucking rip them a new one if they did and they know it.

Reaching the showers with no incidents, I strip and climb in to one of the stalls. I turn the knob to cold and hiss when the water crashes onto my skin, causing goosebumps to spread across my skin. Shit, that’s cold. My dick doesn’t go down and I don’t feel like beating one out in case someone walks in so I squeeze the base and hope to fuck it shrinks before I have to leave this shower.

I think of everything, cats, dogs, squirrels, dog shit, old women…. yeah, that last one did the trick. I grimace at the images that came to mind and shake it out of my head. Turning the shower to hot, I sigh as the hot water pelts on my shoulders, releasing the tension building from sparring with Gemma.
Do not fucking think about Gemma, you twat
, I tell myself. Finishing the shower because it’s just not getting me anywhere, I wrap one of the spare towels around my waist and exit.

I halt in the middle of the locker room and shake my head at myself. What a cock, I forgot I got changed in my office. Shit, shit, shit.

Taking a deep breath, I open the doors of the locker room to the gym and stride out with my shoulders back and my hand holding the towel closed around my assets. I can hear people snickering and give them a dirty look, essentially telling them to shut the fuck up. I look toward the ring to see Gemma and Jase talking. Jealousy courses through my system even though it’s not even warranted. Jase is my mate and he obviously know how into Gemma I am.

Gemma glances my way and freezes. Her expression turns from neutral to lust-filled within seconds and I give her one of those ‘I’ll fuck you with this body later’ and hurry out of the room. The silence in there was deafening and I could feel every fuckers eyes on me. Embarrassing doesn’t even cover how I felt then.

Thankfully, no one is out front but it doesn’t mean that people can’t see me through the glass windows that line the front of the building. I practically run to my fucking office, which is difficult considering I only have a towel hiding my bits. Fuck sake, this day is a mixture of shit rolled into one. This morning, fucking Gemma against her hallway wall was fucking awesome, then the shit with my mother putting a downer on it and then sparring, verbally and physically, with Gemma an hour ago and now embarrassment. Can I just go back to bed and try again?

I unlock my office door, thank God I remembered to pick up the key, and scramble in just as the towel starts dropping from my waist and slam the door shut, leaning against it to try and catch my breath.
