Chapter 4- The Great Struggle

Quin and Husky were just having relaxing day fishing. Quin was a bit of a jokester; he enjoyed messing around with his best friend Husky (who was the opposite of Quin). The duo were basking in the sun, and their already tanned skin from being mixed was getting darker. Husky was relieved that Quin had decided to ease up on his usual playful disposition because they had a long week working for a mining company.

"I'm so tired" Quin yawned and stretched out on his chair.

Husky agreed. His blue eyes were closed from being so content. "I almost wish that I could just be this lazy everyday" Husky added, still relaxed.

Quin didn't feel the need to reply, he just nodded even though Husky didn't see. What surprised Quin was that he could see a blonde girl bobbing in the river. She seemed to be struggling, and he instinctively knew that she needed saving. Without thinking he dashed into the water.

Husky became startled and opened his eyes to see his younger friend jump into the river.

Quin, however, was not the best swimmer; his strength was the only thing that made him reach the young girl. He grabbed onto her and helped her stay above the water.

"Hey, I got you" He gasped as he was also swept by the current. Sammi was too tired and focused to reply. Quin fought to stay above the water with the girl. He started yelling for Husky to save him.

Husky, who was still on shore, rolled his eyes and facepalmed. He quickly stood up and tied his long hair out of his face before making his way out the drowning victims. He rolled his eyes and expertly swam to catch up to them. He was surprised by how deep and strong the current was in this area. He quickly grabbed on to the two drowned rats.

"My hero!" Quin yelled before he accidentally swallowed a gulp of water and started choking.

"Can you help, instead of screw around?" Husky ground out. As he expected, the girl was barely able to stay afloat, but Husky was surprised to find that his friend was already weakening. The two were creating so much drag that Husky was having trouble breaking free from the current.

"Fuck" He sighed. Left with little choice, he did something that he would later regret doing. He shifted into his other form.

Chapter 5- Cannibals?

Sammi was so relieved that this guy was trying to save her. She was incredibly disappointed when the other guy had failed to do so. She was also a feeling a bit guilty because she was probably going to be the cause of two other deaths not including her own.

This new guy couldn't save both herself and her first savior. She almost told the long hair guy just to save his friend when she saw something that almost made her faint. The guy in front of her was now a giant grizzly bear. She must have been hallucinating from the lack of oxygen.

Her original savior grabbed on to the bear with one arm hooked around me, and the grizzly proceeded to drag us to the shore. I could feel the power behind each leg as it pushed through the water. Soon enough, I became limp as gravity became apparent when we reach the shore. I was gently laid on the dirt and immediately fell asleep exhausted.

I woke in an unfamiliar room and was annoyed trying to blink the blurriness from my eyes. It took a few moments for the events leading up to this caught up with me. I sighed heavily. It was just my luck that something like this would happen to me. I was so annoyed. Why couldn’t I just have a normal and relaxing vacation?

“Good to see that you’re up” A voice spoke to me from the shadows. I immediately thought that was creepy.

“Could you maybe not be so ominous” I deadpanned.

“Oh sorry,” An attractive tanned guy with short dark hair came out from the shadows. He was hot! Too bad he had to ruin our first conversation by being creepy.

“So I’m guessing you were the one who started drowning” I guessed. He seemed embarrassed and I couldn’t help but tease him.

“At least I tried” He mumbled.

“Yeah, thank you. I’m just teasing” I laughed. He smiled back.

We stared at each other for an awkward moment before looking away. It then dawned on me that I had seen a man turn into a bear and carry me out of danger. I had to have hallucinated that!

“Where’s the bear guy?” I pointed at the man in front of me accusingly. He looked panicked and cursed before he ran out of the room. That's such a guilty reaction!

What do I even do?! They're probably eating me because I'm pretty sure that's what bears do. Eat people. I caught myself making a horrified face and tried rolling off the couch to make my get away. I completely forgot that I hurt my leg and collapsed to the floor heavily. I groaned and rolled around. It was moments like these that I wished I was just a bit lighter. My eyes widened as the two guys entered the room. We all made awkward eye contact until the long haired man turned around. His shoulders shook in what I assumed to be laughter.

The other guy wasn't any better off. He had his mouth covered and desperately seemed to be fighting off laughter.

"Shut up" I snapped. They lost it. I watched as they broke out in heavy laughter. It was contagious, and I soon found myself laughing along with them.

This is so weird. Do people usually laugh with cannibals? Probably not.

"Here I'll help you up," The long haired guy told me, attempting to get me back to the couch. I eyed him suspiciously.

"Thanks" I finally told him. I was surprised that he got me to the couch so easily. He lifted me as if I weighed as much as a feather.

I wish that were the case!

"My name is Husky" He shook mine had once I was all situated. I shook it back and noticed he had a very firm handshake. The other guy waved at me.

"I'm Quin," He told me with a huge smile. I thought that these two guys were pretty cute. I just wish that they weren't complete freaks, especially of the monster kind.

"My names Sammi, so am I going to be eaten?" I got straight to the point.

Husky exchanged a look with Quin, and I rolled my eyes. "You obviously remember what happened" Husky stated carefully. I nodded glaring.

"Well, we're not going to eat you so you can settle down." Quin piped up.

"Okay, that great!" I sighed relieved.

"But-," Quin started, "You can't leave" Husky ended.

I stared at them, not quite comprehending what they meant.

"What?" I asked.

Chapter 6- Just My Luck

“Well, you’ve seen what we can do. In order to persevere, we can’t let you leave. I would put us in danger” Husky explained. I was trying not to have a complete mental breakdown, but I was having trouble. I had a blank expression on my face the entire time he was explaining this to me, I think I looked ready to stab someone.

The guys eyed me up wearily. Probably taking my psychotic look as proof that I was really going to end up stabbing someone.

Husky quickly ushered Quin out of the room telling me that I could have some time to let everything sink in. As soon as the door closed I took a deep breath. This was crazy. My mind was absolutely unable to comprehend the absurdity of all of this.

I attempted to calm down. I needed to figure out what I would do. I couldn’t just panic and cry. Okay, maybe a little bit of crying would help. But I need a real solution.

I looked around the messy living room, definitely a home that houses guys.

Maybe I could just run away… That would involve running though and my leg wasn’t in any shape to make a trek back to society. Considering that I wasn’t in any immediate danger, I’ll behave myself. Heal up and once they least expect it, I’ll make my get away. I gave myself an imaginary pat on the back.

Coming up with a plan was a lot easier than I had thought it would be. Now all that I had to do was attempt to relax and hopefully everything would work out.

I actually couldn’t believe that I was handling this so well. I must have been fooling myself that I was okay. I was pretty sure that any sane human would be having a break down. I contemplated everything and decided that I was probably just in shock.

It also began to dawn on me that I was probably looking like a drowned rat in front of two hot men. Not that my looks should be a priority at the moment…

About an hour later, Quin poked his head out from what I assumed to be his bedroom.

“You alright?” He asked. I nodded to him almost solemnly, not realizing that so much time had passed during my daydreaming.

“This is scary” I told him frowning.

“Hey, I’m sorry” He looked worried, probably hoping that I wouldn’t cry. He ended up walking up and sitting next to me. He reached out and gently gave my knee a squeeze. Heat shot through my core and I held back a squirm. He had ended up pausing, and looked at me intensely.

“It’s alright” I broke the tension. He seemed to snap out of whatever trance he was in and nodded.

“We aren’t horrible guys, just extra… Eccentric” He told me, still looking apologetic. I nodded, pretending that I understood. But really, how could I? I had practically been kidnapped!

Chapter 7- An Accident

The days passed by slowly and I spent most of my time hanging around Quin. He was actually a pretty good guy besides the whole, holding me hostage thing. We ended up chatting about our everyday lives and were slowly becoming good friends.

I didn’t want to be conceited, but I was getting a hunch that he was getting a crush for me. I feel like women just know these things.

Like one day, I swore that he was checking out my generous rear end when I bent down to pick up the television remote. I couldn’t help by smile to myself when it happened. I thought that it was a great confidence boost.

Husky walked by without even acknowledging my presence. There went my confidence boost. I tried not to frown.

Husky wasn’t as engaging as Quin. In fact he practically pretended that I don’t exist. I knew that I shouldn’t be irritated. But I suppose that my mind didn’t want to be logical.

Not that it mattered. My leg was almost healed and I would be attempting to make my get away soon enough. I smirked to myself. Looking forward to being free from this stuffy house.

One day something odd had happened. Quin was at work and Husky was the only one home. They had changed their entire schedule just so that they could keep an eye on me. Which they were smart to do. I probably should have acted a little less compliant to draw suspicion away from myself.

Husky was in the kitchen cooking food. I was washing the dishes. We politely tried our best to ignore each other’s presence. However, I ended up nicking my finger on a knife that was under the water. I cried out when I felt the sting. I was surprised to find Husky by my side within a second.

“Are you alright?” He asked seriously.

I nodded hissing from the pain, and went to run the alarmingly bloody finger under water. At least my hand was in soapy water.

Husky pulled my hand from the water and pressed a clean dry rag to the wound. It quickly became red in the places that touched the small cut. I was never really great around blood, so I tried to hold off the nauseous feeling going through my body.

I glanced up into Husky’s attractive concerned eyes and felt my cheeks heat up. Maybe all the blood would go to my face and save me from bleeding. I laughed. Which caused Husky to frown. He probably thought I was completely psychotic because of that awkward high pitch laugh I just gave off.

“Come on, lets sit and bandage everything up” Husky led me to the couch. He directed me to continue giving pressure to the wound before he went to get a first aid kit.

Once he came back he took his time bandaging my wound. I couldn’t help stare at how handsome he was as he focused on his task. Once he was satisfied, he smiled. He looked up at me and we both froze.

I held my breath. It seemed like we were both leaning in for a kiss. However, right before our lips touched. The door slammed open and we quickly pulled away from each other.

“I’m home!” Quin yelled.
