Chapter 5

Sandy had a buzz. Between the boos and the prescription, she was feeling no pain whatsoever. She had warmed up to Chris and though he was still dangerous looking, the longer she was around him, the more she became aware of how hard he was and how handsome he was when he smiled. He had a way about him that was easy to get along with and they drove around in her car for a while before going back to her place.

She leaned on his shoulder as they drove up to the small gate. “What is the number I have to put in here at the gate Sandy?”

“4, 2, 33, 8.”

He punched the numbers in and remembered them for later. Here he had thought that he was going to waste the day and get no information about Wade. A few hours later he was going right through the door with his daughter.

There had been a moment when he had first realized what her last name was, who Sandy was that he wanted to take her, but he knew that she wouldn’t forgive him and Chris just didn’t want her to fear him. He was enjoying their time together too much to let it all go bad. She felt good next to him as she snuggled against him. Chris was more used to a girl trying to give him head when he drove with one in a car, but he somehow liked her light touch even better. It was almost innocent in a way, just like the women beside him.

She navigated him to a large house that was several stories and there were several cars in the driveway. He saw them, but pulled in anyways behind one of the dark vehicles. There were a few bikes in the parking lot as well, but none of them were recognized. They weren’t his guys, so that was all that mattered.

Sandy grabbed his arm once he got out and tried to pull him to the house. “Come on, you should come in and meet everyone.” She didn’t want to be alone and figured that Chris could be the distraction, but he didn’t seem okay with that.

“Sorry Sandy I have a few places that I still have to go tonight. Give me your number and I will call you tomorrow if you are free.”

She reached down towards his pockets and pulled his phone out. Tapping a few numbers in the phone before she handed it back to him, she leaned in. “Call me if you really must go Chris.”

Sandy had went to her tiptoes and kissed him gently on his rough cheek before going into the house. He moved away from the light at the entrance and walked back down the driveway. He could feel eyes on him and Chris knew that it was going to be known who he was soon enough. If he could go a little longer without Wade knowing that was good, but now it didn’t matter because he just got the key in.

“Where have you been young lady?”

Sandy was not expecting the booming voice of her father behind her and she actually jumped a little bit. She was halfway up the stairs and she turned around. “I just went out.”

“You never answered your phone.”

“Sorry about that daddy. I think I messed up the battery of something. It keeps going out. Did you need something?”

Wade looked at her, unsure now of what he had said to his friend. Sandy had been spotted at the police station by one of his watchers, as well as at a bar with some man in a motorcycle vest. It made him think of Chris and since he knew that the man was coming, why was she with him?

“Yes, I need you to answer your phone when I call!”

He scared her now and the moment that he shot that unarmed man went through her head and she took a step away from him without realizing it. There was something to be said about the change in the way she felt about him, but she saw him now as many others must, frightening. He was scary to be around and she had never once feared him before. Before she had always seen him as stern, but her hero underneath it all.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal.”

“What are you on?”

“I got a prescription for my nerves.”

“Nerves?”

“Just school and testing, it’s a lot. I had a few drinks earlier to kind of shake it all off.”

“This is not how we act. You are a Westin and every time you leave this house, you are representing the family.”

She nodded her head, having heard the same speech before. It was why she was so proper, because it was demanded of her since as long as she could remember. He was always concerned about what other people thought of him, it was obsessive but maybe he needed that for what he did. Sandy didn’t even really know what her own father did for a living. There was so much that she didn’t know about him.

“I’m sorry.”

“Did you drive home?” He knew that she hadn’t, but he wanted to know if she would lie. Could he still trust her?

“No someone gave me a ride home.”

“Who?”

“A guy I met earlier in the day. He was really nice and I didn’t realize how much I had had to drink. Chris was real nice though and helped me get home. I offered to invite him in, but he said he had other things to do.”

Sandy was babbling and she finally stopped talking all together. She wanted to go upstairs and get away from her father, but it didn’t seem to be an option. Instead she stood there in front of him, waiting for him to say something.

“You really shouldn’t take something before you know the effects. I didn’t realize that school was bothering you that much.”

He felt bad in a way that it was his fault that she had to go get something at all. He knew then that it was going to be hard to get her to change her mind about him, but he had to try.

“It’s just a lot of things and I guess it is all just getting to me.”

“Is there anything you want to talk about?”

The air in the room became colder and moved her hands to her cold arms. “No, I just need to lay down I think.” She had her own reason for feeling guilty and there was an awkward silence that came over the two of them. While he wanted to believe that they could work it out, he didn’t know. Maybe he should just come out with it, but when their blue eyes met, he knew that he couldn’t. He didn’t want to push her into it anymore, but there was no other way to explain to her why it all happened. Wade had to believe that she would understand if she knew the whole story.

“I think we need to talk about last night Sandy…”

“Can we talk about it tomorrow daddy? I really have the worst headache and I just want to go lay down. Besides, by the look of the parking lot out front full of cars, it looks like you have a full house.”

Wade had forgotten about the partners in the library drinking and she was right, he needed to go back. Ever since he had been asked about her loyalty, he had doubted her, but it was clear that Chris now knew where he lived, his daughter and more. Wade was starting to feel a little vulnerable about it all and it wasn’t the first time that he felt the regret of it.. He regretted more though, that he hadn’t had the man taken care of in prison. It would have made his present life easier.

“You’re right. Why don’t we have lunch together tomorrow?”

“Yes father.” Relieved to finally be able to leave, Sandy kissed his cheek and went the rest of the way up the stairs. When she got in her room, she was breathing hard and all she could think about was how close that had felt. Her father knew something. He had asked far too many questions. Sandy was thankful that he hadn’t asked about why she was at the police station. That was one question that she would certainly not have an answer to.

Her mind went to Chris and she knew that she would have to choose between the two. She wanted to go see Chris again, far more than she wanted to talk to her dad. Her dad was now this stranger and though he felt the same and looked at her in the same loving way, it wasn’t the same for her. There were some things that couldn’t be unlearned and now Sandy finally understood the sentiment.

Chapter 6

“How did you get the code?”

Chris just shook his head. “You wouldn’t believe it if I told you Vin.”

“I have to know. You just gave us the code to just walk through the gates.”

“I took his daughter home a little while ago and she gave it to me.”

“Is that why I had to pick you up?”

He nodded. “That’s not even the kicker, Vin. It was that blonde that I was looking for at the diner. Drop dead gorgeous, my future wife and her father is my enemy. How is that for fucked up?”

Vin shook his head. “You’re right, I don’t believe you.”

“Well that is what it is. She helps and hinders. I am going to take her out tomorrow and get her away from there for the night.”

“I bet.”

“She’s not like that, though I wish she was.”

“So we are going to do this tomorrow night?”

“Yeah let it be done so we can get out of here. “

“I thought you were in love?”

“I’ve been thinking about Wade for a long time and I will be doing her a favor. How could anyone forgive that?”

“You are one cold hearted dude. That’s the man I am used to.”

“It’s just who I am now.”

Chris didn’t say anything, but it hurt to even say it out loud. But the truth of it was, he needed the revenge that he had been nurturing for the last three years in prison, more than he needed love.

***

Sandy got dressed and slipped out of the house before anyone else got up. Maria hadn’t been there in days and she wanted to call her, make sure she was okay. The house was strange, more of her father’s friends loitering around and she saw a couple of guns on holsters as she was leaving. It felt like something big was about to go down. There was, but it would not be what they expected.

When she got to her car, she had a small bag with her. Sandy had been advised to stay away from the house and though she wished that it all didn’t have to happen, she knew that it did. Pulling out of the driveway, she half expected someone to come running out to chase her. No one did though and Sandy was able to breathe after she was a little ways from her house. The morning was crisp and clear, it seemed like the wrong sort of day for the dread in her heart, for what was to come.

After trying to call Maria several times, she got a hold of her son and was told that she hadn’t been home in a couple of days. She hadn’t been seen since she seen her last. Sandy worried that she would never see her again. Wondered if her fate would have been the same if she wasn’t his daughter. Had Maria seen too much?

Sandy made a few more calls, relaying some information about the maid. Something had to be done and though she hated to do it, she knew it was the right thing to do. Not sure what she was going to do for the rest of the day, Sandy wanted to stay close, but not too close. She didn’t want to see it happen, but just know that it was done. It was a mix of emotions and she wasn’t taking it all well. When Chris called, it was like a relief. He had come out of nowhere, but knew how to make her feel better.

“Hey Chris. What are you doing?”

“Coming to pick you up.”

“I’m not at home. I am coming to you, where are you staying?”

There was a silence on the other side and he finally told her the address to the motel. If it was going to be a trap, at least it would be over. On the other side of things, he needed to get her away from the house, still not sure how he was going to get her to stay gone once he left. Chris could only think of one way that he wanted to do it.

“See you in a few minutes.”

She hung up with a smile, while Chris just stared at the phone. It was not the way he had imagined it being. Chris figured he would have to coax her into doing what he wanted. There was something off about it all, but there was also a sound in her voice, a need that he had heard before and had been sitting there wishing he had heard from her. It was the sign he needed to move forward.

When she got there, she was a little nervous, but the slight sound was now a tiny look in her eyes. They both said the same thing and the last thing he wanted to do was deal with anything else but her. There would be time soon, he told himself as he invited her in. “Good morning. You look stunning.”

“Thank you Chris. You as well. You look like you haven’t been up long.” Her blue eyes went to his rigid chest that was still bare. He was only wearing a pair of jeans that she suspected had just been thrown on by their rumpled state. As her gaze went up his body, her cheeks reddened as she took in all of him. He seemed excited and she was losing her nerve.

“Long enough.”

She nodded and looked away at the depressing surroundings. “It appears so.”

Sandy walked around the room and looked at the cheap wallpaper and the cracks in the ceiling. “It’s not much, but I just needed a bed.”

She nodded and sat down on the edge of it. Her body pressed down and bounced for a moment, hearing the rusty coils underneath her, groaning with her slight weight.

All Chris could think of when he heard the sound was taking her then, right then and seeing how loud he could make her and the bed scream.

“When do you leave?”

“Soon. Couple of days.”

“Will you be back?”

He shook his head and moved towards her and away from the closed door. There really wasn’t much that could be done about it, but Chris was all about mixing business with pleasure. Maybe something to whisper in the old man’s ear as he killed him.

“Not likely, but you never know.”

“I’m not asking if you would marry me, but I would like to see you again. After all of this.”

Chris stopped with her words and wondered what that meant. It was like she knew what was going to happen. Was she really a decoy?

He stopped being able to hold himself back as her fingertips brushed along his bare chest as they had in the bar. This time she wasn’t wasted, though still admittedly acting strange. But it didn’t matter why she was touching him, just that she was. As her hands moved down to his rippling stomach, he groaned with the feather light touch.

“Why did you want to come here?”

Her fingers stopped at the waistband of his jeans and slid one just underneath, feeling the dark, curly hair underneath. “Because, I never wanted to this so badly before, never knew I could want to feel some one’s lips so much.”

She went to her tiptoes and kissed him slowly on the mouth. Chris agreed, feeling the same way about her as soon as he had saw her. Now that she was there with him, he knew that he wasn’t going to feel this way again. Pushing her body down to the squeaky bed slowly, Chris knew that he would lose her after that day and it became just a need to savor her for the short moment that he had her. Sandy was the type of girl that he had dreamed about in prison, not the trashy type that he had had since he got out.

Her eyes were closed when he finally pulled up to look at her. Sandy was shaking underneath him as he covered her body. Pushing her blonde hair away from her face, he kissed her again more slowly until she was whimpering against him, her hips rising up underneath him to grind against his own need. Pushing her hips back down, his large hands moved up her skirt. “You’re shaking.”

Sandy couldn’t help the trembling. Being around him had been bad enough, but when he was on her, touching her, she found it harder to cope. The man had to know the way he affected women. He was huge and had this dark look in his eyes like he was going to eat her all up. Sandy couldn’t stop the shaking, even if she tried. “You are quite big.”

He chuckled as he pulled the skirt up to her waist, feeling the soft skin of her thighs. His hand covered most of it, the white skin contrasting with his tanned hand. “You haven’t even seen it yet.”

Her eyes flicked to the part where their bodies met and his grin got wider. Sandy could feel the hardness in the rough material as he slid down against her again. His words did not help her fears and it didn’t look like he was trying to. Moving up to her shirt, he pulled back long enough to lift it over her head. She heard him hiss at the view and then move back down to her body.

Chris was quick to take one of her hard tips into his mouth, biting it through the soft cloth. Sandy gasped and her hips lifted up again. She was shaking less as his mouth made her need him even more. He helped her to forget everything as he moved to the other side and then yanked her bra down to finally suckle in one nipple. Her nails bit into his shoulders and her body tensed at his direction. Everything was just happening too fast, her hands went to his chest to stop his descent.
