I moaned again, nuzzling his throat as he filled me up. Each pulse moved through me and into my heart. The reverberations calmed until it was just our ribs that swelled. Our breathing joined the same rhythm.

Brushing hair from my forehead, he looked down on me. "Some wedding, huh?" he asked.

I snorted, covering my mouth. That made him laugh, too. "Yeah. Some wedding, alright."

I didn't want him to leave. Deep down, I was worried he would. Sean slid free, taking a moment to clean up. I held my breath until he dropped back beside me on the bed, his arms creating a pillow. "What?" he asked, blinking at me.

"You're staying?"

His eyebrows went up. "You said I could sleep here."

"Oh, right." I'd forgotten all about that. Thrilling with delight, I wiggled under the blankets. He joined me, our legs touching but nothing else. "That was... really good."

Chuckling warmly, he turned so he could watch me. "Worth the wait?"

I got his meaning, blushing furiously. "Did you really have no clue that I liked you?"

"How could I?"

I opened my mouth—shut it, debating my next words. "Want to hear a funny story?" He nodded, motioning at me to go on. I fidgeted, the blanket under my chin. I treated it like it was armor, but my secret came from within where nothing could keep me safe. "Years ago, I saw you playing at some little hole in the wall club."

"Really?" Sitting up, he considered me. "What were you doing, crushing on me at first sight?"

I gave him a little elbow. He wasn't far off, though. "I was a brand new agent. I was looking for talent." His smile faded away. I had to look at the wall, seeing his blue eyes was too much. "That night, I was planning to sign you. But..."
But then I heard Drezden.
"It didn't work out. My company wanted another band, who was I to disagree?"

The bed springs creaked. I still didn't look at him. "You mean you were almost my manager?"

Biting my tongue did little to help my mood. "I was so excited when you auditioned for Four and a Half Headstones. I really pushed for you, Sean. It just wasn't meant to be."

A wall of heavy silence grew. I swear, I felt each stone being stacked.

His hand cradled my shoulder. Startled, I twisted to look at him. I expected sadness, or anger—not his private little smile. "I guess it worked out for the best."

"What?" I asked. "No, if I'd signed you years ago, you'd have gotten as big and famous as Drez and the rest. You'd have—"

"I'd have never ended up like this," he said, gesturing at the two of us. "If you think I was oblivious to your feelings before, I promise that if you were my manager, I'd have
never
taken a chance with you."

Slowly, my heart filled my throat.

His kiss on my cheek was like an electric butterfly. "So it worked out for the best. See?"

I did see. I wouldn't have before, but...

Now, it was all I
could
see.

Hugging him so violently he groaned, I buried my nose in the hollow of his neck and shoulder. Sean held me as I laughed, not commenting on when it shifted into emotional tears.

This morning, I'd looked in a mirror and thought,
When will it be my turn to find love?

And here it was.

Here it
had
been.

It was just waiting for me to step up and grab it.
