Mitchell rubbed his cheek against the side of her head, enjoying the feel of her against him. She was finally his and his alone. Despite all the shit they’d experienced in the last few days, she now belonged to him.

And he belonged to her.

Chapter Twenty

Mitchell should have awoken with a lush, sleepy mate in his arms. He should have stroked and petted her until she purred for him and then he would have tasted every inch of her—twice—before he filled her with his cock. Then he’d make her come again and again until she begged for mercy. Then he would have given her one more just because before he finally took his pleasure.

All that should have happened.

But it didn’t.

Instead, he woke alone in his massive king-sized bed. He reached toward the left to make sure she hadn’t simply rolled away, but the sheets were cool to the touch. So she’d been gone for a while.

Then came a screech. Followed by a squeal. Echoed by a growl. Then a snarl. Then a booming shout.

What did each and every sound have in common? They came from women. Even that last yell. That one he could identify—Tilly. The others were too garbled and unfamiliar, but he had a feeling that it was her sisters and he was pretty sure he heard Emma’s giggle. At the pack house. At… He lifted his head and looked at the bedside clock. At six a.m.

With a groan he flopped back against the pillow. Six in the morning on the day after his mating and his house was already being invaded.

By
women
.

“Stop yelling! You’re gonna wake up Mitchell!” His mate was sweet. Loud but sweet. And sexy. And delicious… His cock hardened as he remembered making love to her, claiming her, over and over again.

“I’m gonna wake up Mitchell?
Me?
” Okay, so Liv came over.

“Yes, you slutbag.” Phee, sweet as always.

“Don’t say slutbag, whorebitch.” Marcia. Of course, Marcia was in the middle of it, too. The pack house had turned into a home invaded by females.

“Look, cuntwaffle—” Phee had much too broad a curse vocabulary.

“You could do breakfast at Bless Your Tart. Fresh cuntwaffles in the perfect shape. You know.
That
shape.” And that was Emma.

“No cuntwaffles in the house!” He recognized the frustration and anger in his mate’s voice and it was enough to get him moving. It was all fun and games until it hurt Tilly’s feelings and he couldn’t miss the stress tinging her tone.

Mitchell rolled from the bed, groaning with the movement as his back cracked. He tilted his head from side to side, losing himself a bit. They’d hardly slept a wink and he’d spent all night pleasuring Tilly in every position he could imagine. Felt fucking good, but left him achy the next morning.

The chitter and chatter grew in volume, one sister picking up where the other left off and Marcia poking her nose into the middle of the argument here and there while Emma seemed to be stuck on waffles.

Shaking his head, he padded toward the bedroom door, scooping a pair of boxers from the ground and sliding them on as he neared the hallway. He slowly shuffled toward the massive stairway that’d lead him to the first floor.

Another door on the opposite end of the hallway opened and he watched as Kade slowly eased from his suite and slowly closed his door without making a sound. His beta shared the house with him and a few other wolves. It was
their
home too. So why the sneaking?

Mitchell ran a hand through his hair. “What are ya sneaking around for?”

Kade stiffened and then spun to face him, finger pressed to his lips. “Shh…”

“What gives?”

The women downstairs immediately fell silent. All five of ‘em. That shit was scary.

“Mitchell-baby? Is that you?” Tilly’s voice floated to him and he found his body reacting without thought. His blood rushed through his veins, heartbeat picking up, and his dick twitched.

Not good. Not good at all. Especially when he was standing in front of his best friend and beta. “Yeah, baby. I’ll be down in a sec.”

“Okay!” That was immediately followed by yet another argument, but at least this one was whispered.

“Well?” He raised his eyebrows and waited for Kade to reply.

His beta shrugged.

Mitchell remained in place, letting the relative quiet do his talking for him. They weren’t budging until he got to the true reason Kade was sneaking around.

“What’s going on?” Kade didn’t respond so he drew even closer and dropped his voice. His wolf was happy to trot forward, the animal anxious about what upset his friend as well. Thoughts of a naked Tilly were pushed back as concern rushed to the front of his mind. He dropped his voice, letting his wolf’s dominance flow into the air. He wouldn’t be denied. “Kade?”

Kade finally sighed and rolled his eyes. “Really? You’re gonna make me say it?”

“Yup.”

The male’s attention flicked to the bottom of the stairs, particularly toward the kitchen. And still he didn’t say anything, but did look as uncomfortable as hell.

Mitchell growled and stepped forward to block Kade’s view. “What’s going on? You got a problem with my mate?”

Because he was ready to end any and all problems now. His wolf was even
more
protective of Tilly now that he’d claimed her.

His beta snorted. “Really? You think I have a problem with
Tilly
?” He shook his head. “No, I’m happy you found your mate, but—”

The door down the hallway opened once more and a perky Darcy came bouncing toward them. She was put together from head-to-toe with light makeup, a wide smile, and clothes that said she was ready to begin her day.

At six a.m.

“Oh! Kade, baby, I thought you had to head out.” Darcy focused on him. “He said you needed him to handle something this morning so he couldn’t go with us today.”

Mitchell turned his attention back to Kade, to his friend’s pleading expression. He ignored it and spoke to Darcy. “Us?”

“Yup, the gals are heading to Bless Your Tart to help Tilly and then we’re going shopping.”

“Huh. Just you ladies? No males?” Mitchell enjoyed the hell out of Kade’s rapidly paling face.

“No, just us six. Tilly said we could borrow—”

“I’d feel better if you had at least one male with you. I’m assuming Phee is one of your six and she’s still recovering.” He smirked at his beta. “Kade, why don’t you spend the day with your mate and the other women?”

“Really?” Darcy’s excited squeak overlaid Kade’s snarl.

Really?

He turned his grin on Darcy. “If you’re really welcoming Tilly as your Alpha Bitch, then yes, really.”

Darcy nodded. “I swear I am. I know what happened…”

He shook his head. “You showed your dedication to the pack when you came to Tilly and me. If my mate can forgive you, then so can I.”

The female whimpered, her eyes softening, and he knew she was welcoming his forgiveness. Knew that saying the words relieved her wolf and Darcy relaxed and leaned against her mate. Kade’s glare vanished with his mate’s low sound and he tugged her close.

Kade lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss to her crown and murmured against her head. “I’ll go with you, but you’re taking me to that wing place where all the chicks dress in short shorts and bust outta their tops.”

Darcy’s face reddened and then the scents of her happiness and arousal permeated the air. Okay then, apparently Darcy appreciated the shorts and tops, too.

He wasn’t going there.

The voices drew closer and the group of females paused at the base of the stairs. “Mitchell?”

“Hey, baby.” He held out his hand while she padded up the stairs. “Did we wake you?”

“Of course not. My wolf got bitchy because you weren’t next to me.”

“Your wolf is a whiny baby.”

Mitchell snorted and was ready to tell her that he’d make
her
whine, but Darcy cut him off.

“Mitchell said Kade can go with us.”

“Ooh, awesome. He can carry packages.” Tilly smiled at Kade. “They’re stopping by Lush first. You can walk around and carry all their bras and panties while they shop.”

Mitchell tilted his head down. “Be nice to the poor guy, baby.”

Kade grimaced. “With all due respect, Alpha Bitch—”

Tilly’s gaze met Mitchell’s. “Did you ever notice that when someone says ‘with all due respect’ that they’re getting ready to be an asshole? Or is that just me.”

“Nah, it’s not just you.” Mitchell couldn’t hide his grin.

She wrinkled her nose. It was a damn cute nose. “We need to do something about the Alpha Bitch title. I’m thinking something revolutionary like… Tilly.” Kade cleared his throat. “Sorry, finish telling us why you’re gonna be a pussy. We’re listening. Promise.”

“Tilly,” Kade pushed out through gritted teeth. If Mitchell didn’t feel for the guy and understand his frustration with Tilly, he would have taken offense. But as much as he loved his mate, he had to admit she could be trying. “I’m not—”

She chuckled. “And yet you are. Admit that you’re beaten and then they can get going. I even promise not to tell everyone you’re scared of a half-dozen women.”

Damn she was sneaky. The only thing that kept Mitchell’s cock from going rock hard was the knowledge his friend stood not three feet from him. Getting a hard-on while talking to his beta was just fucking creepy.

“I’m the beta of the Wilder pack. I’m not scared of some females.” Kade focused on his mate. Darcy had apparently perfected Tilly’s pleading expression because then his shoulders slumped. “Fuck. I’m beaten.”

“As Phee would say:
boom
.” Tilly even pretended to drop a microphone, signaling she was a badass and done.

Kade grabbed Darcy’s hand and padded toward the steps. “I’ll see you later, Mitchell.” Kade’s attention swung to the lower level, to the women chattering—shouting—at each other. “If I don’t kill them all first.”

Liv bared her fangs. “I’d like to see you fucking try. I’ll have your ass for brunch.”

Dammit, he’d forgotten Liv had a tiny control problem. Maybe Kade was the wrong person to send along.

“That’s not very nice. How are you supposed to teach kids and get them to trust you if you keep threatening to eat them?” Phee sounded like she was trying to be nice, but the twinkle in her eye told him differently.

Marcia raised her hand. “To be clear, we’re talking in the bad way here, right? Because I doubt Liv’s a pedo waiting to happen. At least, I hope not.” Marcia curled her lip and scooted away from Liv.

“Bad way? There’s a good way to eat anyone?” Phee furrowed her brow.

Marcia eeked away from her. “You are obviously seriously uninformed or the guys you bang suck because they’re not going downtown.”

“I’ll have you know—”

Mitchell put two fingers in his mouth and whistled. When he had their attention, he spoke. “We agreed on no sex talk.”

Everyone’s wide eyes focused on him, but it was Phoebe who spoke. “We agreed on no dick or vagina talk and if I understand Marcia, we’re talking about clits.” She turned to face Marcia. “We’re talking about clits, right?”

“You can call them hot nubbins of pleasure, if you want.” Marcia’s tone said she was trying to be helpful.

Mitchell shook his head and laid it on Tilly’s. “Help me.” He wasn’t above begging. “Please.”

Tilly pulled away from him and he let her step out of his embrace. “Okay then, the pack house is a penis, vagina, and clit free zone.”

“Aw, Tilly…” Phee whined. “How am I supposed to learn about anything?”

Tilly propped her hands on her hips. “Seriously? You two haven’t shared every detail ever?”

Phee shook her head. “No, Marcia won’t tell me about anal—”

Marcia slapped a hand over her friend’s mouth. “No penises, vaginas or clits. Got it.”

Phee’s words were muffled, but he could still understand her. “Assholes aren’t vaginas.”

Mitchell wrapped his arms around Tilly’s waist and pulled her against him. “Here’s the deal. I’m going to take Tilly back to our room and introduce my penis to her vagina—” he ignored the chorus of
ew
. “—and you all are gonna be anywhere but here.”

“Heh, he said butt.”

Teenagers.

“Hundred bucks each if you stay out until dinner.” He needed to be alone with Tilly. Now. His dick was snug against her ass, his shaft nestled between her cheeks, and all he could think about was his penis inside her vagina over and over again.

Emma was the first to reply. “Make it two and you won’t see us until morning.”

Mitchell didn’t know Emma well, but he had to appreciate a tough negotiator.

“Two but you bring me pastries from the bakery before you head to the mall,” he countered. They’d worked things out so Liv and Phee would juggle the bakery with a couple other pack members while he celebrated his mating for a few days with Tilly. She’d go back to work—there was no question about that—but they needed time together.

“Done.” Liv snatched the two teens’ wrists and tugged them toward the front of the house with Emma, Darcy and Kade taking up the rear.

“Hey, I want a good faith deposit. What if he doesn’t deliver?” Phee objected.

Smart kid. “My wallet’s in the study. Grab a couple hundreds and then
get the fuck outta the house
.”

All right, that was a little louder than he intended, but Tilly was rubbing her ass back and forth and teasing his cock and…

“Talk about cranky.” Phoebe hadn’t seen cranky.

“It’s probably blue balls, though, I’ll be honest and say I’ve never seen them blue.” God love Marcia, but she needed to be taken under control.

“Would you two stop?” Emma sounded exasperated.

“Please,” Kade pleaded.

“Depends.” The front door groaned as it was yanked open and Phoebe’s voice slowly lowered. “Next time you guys do Babeless Boobs, you gonna let me put pearl necklaces on…”

Finally the door thudded closed and they were surrounded by… silence. Blessed silence.

* * *

Tilly leaned into Mitchell, letting him support her as she rested her head on his chest. Quiet reigned, wrapping around them in a soft blanket of silence. She loved her sisters and best friend—she really did—but she wanted to spend time with her mate. Her new mate.
