“PIKE,”
she crie
s
out through our bond.

I d
o
n’t even explain myself before I bolt from the room. I d
o
n’t have to look behind me to know that the rest of the men
a
re following me, they c
an
feel that something
i
s wrong
.

I bypass the elevators and head straight for the stairs taking them two at a time. Our suite
i
s on the top floor of
the seven
story building, it had once been a mountain resort, but the pack
took
it over 50 years ago and ha
s
kept it up to date since. The alphas suite ha
s
always been on the top floor, but at a time like this I wish I insisted on it being on the bottom.

I reach our suite and f
i
nd the door standing wide open. I kn
o
w she
i
sn’t there but that d
oes
n’t stop me from tearing through every room to double check. Her scent
i
s strongest in the kitchen from where she’
s
been in there cleaning and I c
a
n’t make myself leave th
e
room. I need her scent around me. I collapse against the island where she had stood hours before mixing up pancake batter and let loose a growl so loud that it sh
a
k
es
the cabinet doors, “
GRRRRAAAAHHH
.”

Tucker approache
s
me slowly and bare
s
his neck. I hadn’t realized till that time that my wolf
i
s in control. My nails ha
ve
turned into claws and I
’m
holding on to my human skin by a very thin thread that

s getting ready to snap. He t
a
k
es
in my appearance then sa
ys
, “Alpha, we found Kyran

s scent by t
he front door along with Bloom

s and someone else that we can’t recognize.”

“Show me,” I growl standing up and stomping back in the direction of the entrance to our suite.

The living room and hallway leading into our suite
i
s filled with shifters in differing levels of their change. The lesser wolves completely shifted into their wolf forms when I had let loose my anger. They c
a
n’t stop themselves from heeding the call of their alpha. The stronger wolves abstained mostly, some ha
ve
their claws and teeth extended, but the top wolves like Tucker
were
able to refrain from the shift all together.

I pass them by without a word. My shoulders
a
re back and my
determined
gait
t
a
k
es
me swiftly towards the door. I kn
o
w I
’m
pushing my dominance over everyone in the room I c
an
hear the weaker wolves whimpering as I pass, but I d
o
n’t have enough control o
f my emotions or my wolf to rein it in.

The scent of Bloom

s fear hit
s me
a few feet from the door
. It

s so strong that it wash
es
out the other scent that I c
an
tell
i
s mixed in with it. Kyran

s scent linger
s
just inside the door. I bypass it because I d
o
n’t need to identify him, I kn
o
w he helped and he

s on my list for retribution. His sister w
o
n’t be saving his ass after this foolish move. I lean in close to the door handle, where the unidentified scent
i
s
strongest
and inhale deeply.

Yanking the handle out of the door frame I thr
o
w it through the wall across from the entrance and growl, “TRACE!”

“The human from Ohio?” Tucker ask
s
from behind me.

I sp
i
n on him and
grab the front of his shirt, “Yes! Find him. Kill him.” Once my orders
a
re out I c
a
n’t control my shift any longer. I f
al
l on all fours in my wolf form and let out a howl calling my pack to action.

Chapter 34 – Bloom

~ You gave me life again and the darkness went away~

My head
i
s fuzzy and I
’m not
sure where I
am
. I c
an
feel a scratchy blanket against my bare legs and I kn
o
w my hands
a
re handcuffed above my head. Opening my eyes and looking around I f
i
nd myself in what ha
s
to be a rundown motel. There
a
re two full size beds, each with ugly gold and burgundy blankets on them. That explain
s
the scratchy material under my legs. Facing the bed
i
s an off white dresser with an older television on top. The paint
i
s chipped and some of the drawers
a
re hanging in their slots crooked. To my left
i
s
a bathroom
.
I c
an
tell by the light that ha
s
been left on that it

s in desperate need of a scrubbing. To my right
i
s a wall of curtains that hid
e
me from the world outside and the door. It w
ill
be my only way out if
I
c
an
find a way to get out of these handcuffs. I look up where my hands
a
re bound and f
i
nd the handcuffs
a
re hooked through a metal circle in the light fixture right above the headboard.

There
a
re voices right outside the door. Whatever
i
s being said
i
s heated, but I c
an’t
hear exactly what it
i
s. Though I c
an
tell
it is
Trace and Kyran. I ha
ve
to get out of here, I d
o
n’t know what Kyran
i
s planning to do with me, but I kn
o
w Trace
i
s going to follow through with what he started at the lake. And this time I d
o
n’t have Pike
here
to save me.
Shit Pike, I c
an
try to contact him through our bond. I’ve never done it with him being so far away and he
’s
never told me if there
a
re limitations, but right
now
it

s my only shot.

“Pike, please say you can hear me.”
I repeat th
e
same sentence over and over through our bond. My eyes
a
re closed and I
’m
doing everything I c
an
to concentrate on our connection.

Finally after what seem
s
like hours, but
i
s really just minutes, I hear his voice,
“Oh darlin’. Thank
the
lord.”

“Tennessee, Kyran and Trace have me
,

I start but
I’m
cut off by him.

“We know darlin’.
I’m tracking your scent.
Do you have any idea where you are? Are they there with you?”

“I’m in some run down motel, but I’m not sure where. They knocked me out before they to
ok me. They’re outside the door.
I think they’re fighting, but I can’t hear what about. Tennessee, please hurry.”

“I will baby. I think I may know the motel, we’ll be there soon.”

The sound of the door opening pull
s
me out of our connection and I turn to see my two captors standing there watching me.

Kyran look
s
me over th
e
n sa
ys
, “Shit she’s awake. I thought I told you to dose her again.”

Trace look
s
me over too, but his look s
hows
he clearly
i
sn’t upset about me being awake, “She’s more fun this way.”

“You moron, now she can contact him. She probably already has!” He scream
s
and pushe
s
the other man.

“Jesus calm down, it’s not like she has access to a phone. He
r
fucking hands are cuffed.” Trace pushe
s
him back.

“I told you she doesn’t need a phone. They are mates. They have a connection and can speak through it.” Kyran
step
s
back and beg
i
n
s
to furiously fist his hands through his blonde hair.

“Fuck not that shit again, man. You keep that shifter crap up and someone will lock you away. I’ve known my little flower all her life
.
I
f she’s a wolf then I’m a fucking fairy.” Trace laugh
s
at Kyran.

Kyran look
s
at Trace and me multiple times
then sa
ys
, “Fuck this! He’s probably already on his way. I’m out of here.” His eyes land back on Trace and he t
ells
him, “If you’re smart you’
ll
pack her ass up and high tail it out of here too. Take her far away from here and keep her drugged and maybe he won’t find you

maybe.”

He look
s back at me and I try
to hold out hope that he’
ll
finally see me as his sister and not his enemy, but his eyes
a
re cold and uncaring
and I kn
o
w he’
ll
never see me as anything other than the person who
’s
te
aring
apart his family. He grab
s
a black duffle bag by the door and t
a
k
es
off, leaving me alone with Trace.

He shut
s
the door and lock
s
it then advance
s
to the bed I
’m
trapped on. His eyes slither up my body, making me wish I had dressed in layers instead of the sundress I put on for the breakfast with the Elders. He stop
s
at the end of the bed and pull
s
off his dark green polo shirt. He kick
s
off his sneakers then drop
s
his hands to the button o
f
his khaki cargo shorts. He ma
k
e
s
quick work of the button and zipper and they drop to the floor around his ankles.
