Brenda scurried back a few steps out of her husband’s reach. Her face was pale and she looked shocked, her hands went to her mouth as she screamed when Kevin tried to swing at Iian. But Iian’s fist smashed into him again, this time taking Kevin to his knees. Just then Iian looked over as Robert’s cruiser drove up and parked right behind his bike.

Iian stood over Kevin “I told you I’d let you off easy.” Iian hauled Kevin up and waited for Robert to take him off his hands.

“Are you okay?” Robert asked him.

“I’m fine,” he looked over and watched Brenda rushed to Megan’s car and take Susie in her arms. Just then Tommy came running out with Bob, the boy went into his mother’s waiting arms as well.

“Is everyone alright?” Robert called over to the group.

“Yes, I think we’re fine,” Allison said and signed, smiling down at the family. She looked up at Robert and said, “He admitted to everything, running me off the road, slashing my tires, attacking my mother and starting the fire.”

“Damn it, Robert! I just wanted to see my kids. There’s no harm in that,” Kevin was saying as Robert lead him to the car, blood flowed from his nose and lips.

“Kevin, you’re under arrest,” Robert said and proceeded to give him his rights.

Iian walked over to Allison. “Are you okay?” he signed. He’d been so scared since getting the text message. Fear of losing her, images raced through his mind. He’d never been this scared in his life. He knew that his life would have no meaning with out her in it.

“Yes, thank you.” She went into his waiting arms. He noticed she was shaking and realized he was shaking as well. Bending his head down, he took her mouth for a kiss that would be etched in his memory for the rest of his life.

Epilogue

Iian stood on his cliff and looked out over the water. The winter weather was quickly coming. He could sense a large storm brewing and knew it would reach them later that night. Then there was a light tug on his hand and he looked over to his wife of two months.

They had just come back from their honeymoon. Spending a whole month in Paris at Megan and Todd’s chateau had been perfect. They’d enjoyed the city, country, food, and sights, but most of all, they’d enjoyed each other.

Allison looked beautiful. Her long blonde hair was flowing in the cold breeze. The salty spray from the water hit them both in the face. His old gray jacket was zipped up to shield her from the crisp wind.

Smiling over at her he said, “A storm’s coming.”

Allison smiled back at him. Thinking of all the changes that had happened to her over the last year, she was thankful that she’d returned home when she had. “I can’t wait for summer again.”

Why is that? It’s just ended.” He turned and held her other hand and looked into her face.

“Because that’s when our baby will be here.” She smiled at him.

He blinked a few times. “I’m sorry. Could you repeat that?” He looked dumb founded.

Pulling her hands free, she signed. “Our baby will be here next summer.” She smiled as she was being spun around in circles, listening to her husband laugh with joy.
