In The Car

Kid drove down the road silent at first. I already slid in the street clothes they brought me and I couldn’t believe how flat my chest was under my t-shirts. No longer would I have to bind myself. The hospital gave me a fucked up cosmetic surgery to save my life and now I was breast-less and happy as shit.

“Ya’ll got my joint?” I asked.

“Yep. It’s in that bag.” Krazy replied. “Your father gave us your phone, too. All your stuff in there.”
“You talk to my pops?”
“Yeah…he said he’ll reach out when he can.”
I smiled.
“You got fat as shit!” Sugar said out of nowhere. “It looks good on you though.”
“Thanks. I think.”
“So who is this chick again?” Kid asked looking at Dynamite
“Why? Who you?” Dynamite said.
“Her name is Dynamite.” I told them. “And trust me when I say she’ll come in handy one day.”
Dynamite looked at them before focusing on the door. “Hey, Mad…You think I can pick this lock?”
“You talking about the door? From the inside?” I said.
“Yeah!”
“It opens by itself. You ain’t gotta pick it.”
“Oh…” She said softly.
My friends shook their heads.
“So you really gotta go back there?” Krazy asked. “To Concord Manor?”
“I just have to see about something.” I paused looking out the window. It felt good to be free. “I won’t be too long.”
“But we busted you out because you need to stay away from there.” Sugar said. “Not got back. If you do, your mother might tell them peoples on you. And they’ll come get you.”
“I’m never going back permenatenly. Just let me see what’s up. I have a few unanswered questions and I’ll get back up with ya’ll.”
“What we gonna do with her?” Sugar said frowning at Dynamite. “This your new girl or something?”
I shook my head. “No.”
“So what’s up?”
“Just keep her with ya’ll.” I paused. “Until you hear from me.”
“You don’t want us to wait when we drop you off?” Kid asked.
“No…But I got my phone. I’ma hit you when I’m ready.”
As we drove closer to my house I thought about something that bothered me. I missed Glitter’s funeral and always felt like shit about it. I didn’t plan on missing another friend’s funeral but it was out of my hands.
Wanting to know but not really I asked, “So how was it?”
“Wokie’s funeral?” Sugar said.
“Yeah.”
“We were in the drunk zone. If we remember we’ll let you know.”

JAYDEN
TWINTRAITOR

Jayden was in her room in Concord Manor, pacing the floor. She and Shaggy were an item ever since he came through for her by finding Passion, but lately she couldn’t get a hold of him on the phone. It had been two hours since she last spoke to him and it was driving her crazy. She needed to speak to him every hour and if she couldn’t she felt something was wrong with the relationship. Calling his phone again she was happy when he finally answered.

“Shaggy, why you ain’t answer the fucking phone? Don’t fuck with me!”
“Baby, I had something to do. I told you that.” “Are you sure?”
“Yes! What you think was happening?”

“Did I do something wrong, Shaggy? Say something wrong? Or anything like that?”
“No!” He sighed. “Why you always think you said something wrong because you don’t talk to me every hour? You know niggas after me and shit.”
“I know, and I want to help you.”
“But you can’t.”
“I can. But you gotta trust me.” Jayden cried. “I don’t want you to leave me. I want us to be together forever. Even if I gotta kill us to make that happen.”
Silence.
“I won’t leave you, Jayden. But you gotta give me my space, baby.”
“Space?” She frowned. “Since when do you need space?”
“Jayden, I been meaning to talk to you about this. I mean, you starting to crowd me, and I’m gonna need you to back off a little.”
“So you saying it’s over?”
“No! I’m not saying that! I’m just saying I need a little time. Please.”
After he said that he hung up in her face. She called him back immediately and said, “I’m gonna come over your house after my company leaves. You better be there when I knock on that door.”
“Don’t threaten me.” He said.
“NO! You don’t threaten me. You belong to me, Shaggy. That was our agreement.”
“We haven’t even fucked yet!”
“That’s not my fault. You afraid to be around me. And when we do see each other it’s rushed.”
“Jayden…”
“Jayden, shit!” She yelled. “Now you said you wanted to be with me, and I agreed. But now that you got my heart, nigga, you better act right.” She told him. “Like I said, I’ma be there when my company leaves. Don’t go nowhere.”
Shaggy had her fucked up if he thought he could just play with her heart. That wasn’t happening. He couldn’t believe the change in Jayden. She was obsessive, crazy and jealous. He never thought she could turn so quickly and now that she had, he wished they could go back. He didn’t understand that she purposely shielded her heart for fear it would be broken. She suffered much heartbreak in her day and the feeling of loss was hard for her to handle. So now that she opened up to him, in her mind it was for keeps and it couldn’t possibly be any other way. Unless she killed him.
When she hung up on him, she waited for Madjesty to call back. After a month finally they would see each other again.
Shit got crazy over the month that she hadn’t spoken to Madjesty. For starters, their aunts and mother were fighting over who owned the house. They had a future court date about whom the house belonged to. To make matters worse, Harmony had to register as a sex offender and wasn’t allowed near small children because of that boy she fucked in the bushes.
Then there was Passion. Although things were better in Jayden’s mind between them, Passion was scared out of her mind by Jayden’s erratic behavior. She told anyone who she could trust that Jayden was crazy. But there was nothing she could do. Jayden’s obsession with her couldn’t be fully explained but it was definitely strong.
About an hour later, Madjesty arrived and the only person home was Jayden. The moment Jayden opened the door, she wrapped her arms around Madjesty but the feeling of love wasn’t returned. Something in Madjesty’s eyes said she’d turned for the worse but Jayden couldn’t be sure.
“Still mad at me?” Jayden asked separating herself from her twin before closing the door.
“Naw. Been through a lot.” She said walking around her. “I see ya’ll really fucked up this house. Where’s all the furniture?”
“Aunt Ramona and Aunt Laura sold it. It’s a long story.” She paused. “Well come up to my room. So we can talk.”
Madjesty followed Jayden up the staircase and into her room. “Where is Harmony? I got to see her before I leave.”
“Why?”
“Don’t worry about all that,” Madjesty smiled. “Just know that before I leave, I got to see her. Cool?”
“Cool.” She said sitting on her bed. “Sit down next to me.”
“Naw. I’ll stand.” Madjesty said.
“So what you been up to?”
“You mean besides losing one of my best friends, getting raped, shot and being committed in a crazy house for a month?”
“What?” her eyes widened.
“Yeah. Life for me was fucked up!”
“I’m so sorry, twin.” She stood up to hug her and again Madjesty backed away. “Why didn’t you call me, Mad? I told ma, over and over I wanted to talk to you. I knew she knew where you were, but she was keeping that info top secret.”
“She never told you I wanted to talk to you?” Madjesty asked.
“Never.”
Mad didn’t believe her. “Where is your father? You guys still close?”
“We’re close but a lot of shit been happening between your father and mines so I’ve been seeing him less these days. I’ve been busy anyway. So it’s not too bad.”
“Shit going on with our fathers like what?”
“I don’t really want to talk about it.” Jayden said.
“See…that’s why we’ll never be like we use to be. Ever.”
“Don’t say that.” Jayden said wrapping her arm around Madjesty’s shoulder. When she shot her an evil look she removed it immediately. “We…we gonna be close like we use to. We just have to work on it.”
“You mean how we were working on it before I left?” She said in a condescending tone. “Because if I can recall, whenever I reached out to you, you never had the time. And then when you made the time you would take it back by standing me up.”
“That was then! I think we can be better now. I think we can be like the kids we were in Texas.”
“Never.” Madjesty said playing with the perfumes on her dresser. “Things will never be the same.”
“Okay…you want me to open up?” Jayden said. “And keep it real with you?”
“I want it if you want it. But I’m not pressing you no more.” “I want it. And if we gonna be close, we have to stay out of our fathers’ businesses. Their beef has torn us apart.”
“I don’t have a problem with staying out of their business.”
“Okay…tell me where you been?”
“Before I do that, answer my initial question.” Madjesty said holding her ground. “What kind of beef do our fathers have?”
“Okay…I’m gonna trust you first.” She paused. “My father is after yours because he thinks he kidnapped his friend. Antoinette.”
“Tell me something I don’t know already.”
“Okay…well your father has admitted to having her but now he’s changing the game. He’s saying if my father doesn’t pay him five hundred thousand and hand over Shaggy, Paco’s son, then he’s going to kill her.”
“So why doesn’t he do it?”
“He’s torn. Because Shaggy is my boyfriend and I love him. I don’t want to lose him and don’t even understand why Kali wants him.” Jayden said with wild eyes. “You see?”
“You know Shaggy like that?” Mad asked. “I mean, I know you knew him but when shit get there?”
“Why?” She paused looking at Madjesty sideways. “I just said he’s my boyfriend. Do you know him too?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“Well, let’s just say that he raped me. He raped me and sucked on my chest in front of my girlfriend before he took her away. And when he was done, he shot me in my arm, and left me for dead.” Madjesty laughed insanely.
“You were the boy/girl they were talking about?”
“I guess.” She paused. “I don’t know what story you were told. But then…check it…I get to the hospital, and I cut my breasts off.” She lifted her shirt to show her mutilated chest. Jayden was scared. “And they thought I was crazy so they committed me. Can you believe it? They thought I was crazy because I didn’t want any part of my body that he touched. They couldn’t understand that so they said I’m crazy!” She laughed harder. “Well maybe I am!”
“I…I don’t understand. You…you were Passion’s boyfriend?”
“Yes.”
“They said they killed some dude/girl but…but I didn’t know it was you.” She paused. “Had I known it was you I would’ve never told Shaggy to kill you.”
“Hold up.” she paused. “You gave the order for him to kill whoever she was with didn’t you?” Madjesty paused. “Because that’s what he said.”
“Yes. But I didn’t know it was you.” She paused. “I would’ve never given the order for some shit like that! Ever. Think, Mad, how would I know you were posing as a boy? And how would I know you were with Passion? I never saw you guys together at school.”
“That’s because I never went to school and neither did she.”
“More shit happened then I know about in that motel room.” Jayden paused. “So let me go make us something to drink so we can talk about all this shit and get it out in the open.” Jayden said. “Sit down, sis.” She did. “You still drink Henny?”
“That’s all I’ll ever drink.”
Jayden smiled and said, “I’ll be right back.”
As she went downstairs to get the drink, Madjesty looked around her room. She saw pictures of her and Shaggy everywhere now that she paid closer attention. When she first entered the room, Jayden was the apple of her eye, but with her gone she saw things for what they really were. Not trusting her sister anymore, she picked up the phone and pressed mute.
“Hi, Kreshon. When you talk to my father can you tell him to call me back? She’s here but I’m not sure how long I can keep her!” Madjesty’s heart broke as she listened to her sister’s deception. “I’m sure Kali will give Antoinette back now if my father kidnaps Mad. Then maybe Kali will leave my boyfriend alone too.”
“Okay, Jayden. I’ll tell him.” He said. “Just keep her there.”
Madjesty heard enough betrayal and hung up the phone. She realized that Jayden knew about the rape and chose Shaggy anyway. When Jayden came back upstairs, she handed her the Henny and she drank some. It felt good. She didn’t have a drink in months. “Thanks, sis.”
“No problem.” Jayden smiled. “I love you so much, Mad. I’m so glad you’re here.”
“I love you too.” Madjesty said stepping closer to her. When she was close enough to touch her, she crashed the glass against her face and knocked her to the floor. “Oh, I’m sorry.” Madjesty laughed. “Did I just cut your pretty little face?” Blood was everywhere. “The funny thing is, you really look like mama now.”
“Why did you do that?” She asked from the floor.
Madjesty dropped to the floor. “So what’s the plan? To get back at my father, you decided to sell your own sister instead? You love him that much more than me?”
“I don’t want Kali to kill Shaggy. And if Jace has you, he won’t do it.” She cried. “I love him and you know Jace would never hurt you.”
“Now he’s Jace, huh? Not daddy?” Madjesty’s stomach turned listening to her lies. “So you would trade me for Shaggy?”
“I really am sorry, Mad. Don’t hurt me anymore.”
Madjesty dropped down to the floor and got on top of her sister. “You know, Harmony told me not to trust you. But I didn’t believe her. Matter of fact, I don’t believe shit that bitch says. But what do you know, for the first time in her life she was right.”
Putting her weight on top of her sister she lifted her dress and pulled down her own jeans. Then she rammed the dildoe she wore inside of Jayden over and over.
“How does it feel, sis? How does it feel to be violated, huh?”
“Stop!!!” Jayden begged moving wildly. “Please stop, Madjesty!” She cried. “It hurts.”
“Does it? Because that’s how it felt to me. When your boyfriend took what he wanted. He didn’t give a fuck.” She continued pounding in and out of her. “I bet you were saving this pussy for him wasn’t you? He wanted to be the first to hit this, huh?” She laughed. “Well guess what; tell him an eye for an eye!” When Madjesty started feeling like she was going to cum, she raped her harder until she reached an orgasm. Then she kissed her passionately in the mouth before knocking her out. “Sneaky, bitch!”
With Jayden out cold on the floor, she ransacked her room. She found a gun she was sure Jace gave her for protection, along with four thousand dollars in cash. She took the money and the weapon and tried to get into Harmony’s room so she could approach her but it was locked. Twenty minutes later Harmony came through the front door only to see Madjesty waiting in the foyer.
“Madjesty,” she said stunned. She looked at her stomach. “You’re…you’re home.”
“Yes, mama. I am.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I live here.”
“I know but you…you not supposed to be here though.”
“I escaped, mama. I have nothing to live for but I don’t plan on spending any more of my days there.”
“So now you mad at me? Again?” She smiled. “Even though I’m the one who visited you once or twice a week?” When she said that Madjesty raised the weapon and aimed. “Baby, please put the gun down. I thought we had a connection.”
“Why didn’t you tell Jayden where I was?”
“I did tell her! She didn’t want to come! I promise you.” “I don’t believe you.”
“Well it’s true.” She looked into Madjesty’s eyes. “But I was right wasn’t I? She shouldn’t be trusted.” Harmony probed. “She stabbed you in the back just as I predicted.”
Having quarterbacked the end of their sisterhood made Harmony smile.
Just when she said that Madjesty’s phone rang. It was a new number. “Hello.”
“Baby…it’s me. Passion.”
Silence.
“Passion?” Madjesty repeated her heart thumping wildly in her chest. Was this a set up?
“I mean, it’s me. Denise. How are you, baby? I…I really miss you.”
Although she made the name clarification she knew who she was the moment she heard her voice. “I’m fine. I…I’m just surprised you called.”
“Baby, I heard you’re home. But you gotta get out of the house because Shaggy is coming to kidnap you. He has Jace and Kreshon with him. You gotta get out of town or something.”
“Where am I going to go?”
“Anywhere! Just get out of the house. Please!”
“Okay…I’ll do it. I miss you so much, Denise. I’m sorry about the lies. I really am.” She said looking at Harmony who was afraid to move for fear of being shot.
“I miss you too.” She paused. “You got a plan?”
“Yeah. I think I know where I’m going.”
“Can I go with you?”
The feeling Madjesty felt at that moment couldn’t be explained. At first she thought there was no chance they could ever be, and now she learned she was wrong.
“Yes, baby. You can.”
“Where you want me to meet you?”
Madjesty backed away and whispered quietly into the phone. “The New Carrolton metro station. I’m catching an AMTRAK train from there and then we can get on a plane to another state.” She said, not wanting to say which state with Harmony in the room. She didn’t trust her even if she was about to kill her.
“You got somebody to get the tickets for us? Since we under age?”
“I got a fake ID. We’ll be fine. Don’t worry about your clothes either. Just bring one bag and come on. I’ll buy you all new stuff when we get there. I promise.”
“Okay…I’m coming now. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
After Madjesty ended the call she pulled the trigger to fire at Harmony. But the gun didn’t go off. Reaching in her pocket she grabbed her knife and charged after Harmony. Leaving town or not, she couldn’t rest until she knew her mother was dead. She was just about to lunge the knife into her flesh when Ramona and Laura entered the house and grabbed her wrist.
