Kynthia looked at him. “You sing?” she asked, her eyebrows rose.
“Aye,” he replied enthusiastically and began an old folk song he had learned as a child.
Kynthia stared at him, amazed at his lack of talent. “No lyre,” she said beneath her breath. “Don’t you dare give him a lyre!”
And in her heaven, Morrigunia laughed. Gently she delved into the lovers’ minds to see what manner of book they would find interesting and conjured them to the island along with quills and paper, wood and carving tools, and a few other things the lovers had not asked for.
